Summary: Better than I'd anticipated
Review: When Ifirst saw the ads for this movie, my interest wans't piqued. However, when you have kids, as you may know, you end up watching almost every feature length animation out there as your only option for a family movie night out. "Ice Age" turned out to be a funny and pleasant surprise.

Just as bugs life is loosely based off the "Seven Samauri" theme, "Ice Age" gets it's main plot from the John Wayne and Ward Bond 1948 version of "Three Godfathers". Three ill-matched animals- Sid the Sloth (John Leguizamo), Manny the Mammoth (Ray Romano) and Diego the sabertooth tiger (Dennis Leary)- become temporary care takers of an infant who's mother has died. Sid and Manny plan to return the infant to his tribe, but Diego has been sent to kidnap the boy as revenge on his Father's tribe (who hunt sabertooth's for meat and skins). Sid describes their odd little group as "the weirdest herd I've ever seen". Of course, they meet with danger along the way, which is how "Ice Age" earned it's PG status ("For mild Peril", the description says). I think my favorites are Leguizamo and Leary, two of my favorite veteran comedians. Parents as well as kids will love this flick.

DVD offers wide or full screen options, and has a second DVD with tons of extras, including Sid the Sloth's comentary on several movie scenes, the Oscar winning animated short "Bunny", 3 interactive games, subtitles in french or spanish, "The Making of Ice Age" documentary, and more. Lots of stuff for a decent price.

Summary: Snow Day
Review: Ice Age is very cool. It's based on a true story on an Ice Age that happened long ago. My favorite part is when all the tigers died. Ice Age is about a wolly mammoth, a silly sloth, and a funny tiger return an adorable little baby to his herd. It was the Best Movie. I think it should win Best Animated Film instead of SPIRITED AWAY. (didn't see that one) If you like this movie. Maybe you should see Jonah A Veggietales Movie.

Summary: Cruel... and Boring!
Review: Alright, this review is for the people who don't care about animals. This movie is BORING. It was only made because everyone know movies animated that way get kids attention. HELLO! The mammoth is Shrek! The sloth is the donkey. The kid is "boo" from Monsters Inc!! This movie is not original and it's boring. I wanted to see this and was terribly disapointed... The story was horrible, plus stupid...

Summary: Funny Movie...so-so Bonus Features
Review: I saw this movie in the theater, and enjoyed it to a certain degree. It does lag in a few areas, but definatly worth seeing. Similar to 'Shrek', younger kids may/will enjoy it, but a lot of the laughs go to adults.
The bonus features are only so-so. Not as much fun as other films in this genre (such as 'Shrek'). The 'Scrat's Missing Adventure' short was overhyped. It is not as humorous as it was made out to be. Another short film 'Bunny', is interesting, to say the least. It is hard to understand, without the commentary. It makes you think, 'Wow, that's interesting', and at the same time 'What were they thinking?'.
The rest of the bonus features really are not anything worth mentioning, unless you really have too much time on your hands.
Overall, the film is good. The 2-disc DVD seems a little of a waste, but the film is still worth purchasing.

Summary: Not the best animated movie
Review: ...But its still worth a try. Don't you hate movies that give away everything in the commericials and promotions? Well, this was one of those. Basically every funny part was exposed before the audience even sat down to watch the movie. The story line isn't that great, but the end may catch a tear with the heartfelt few.

Summary: Loved it!!
Review: This movie was so cute...funny, and just plain loved it!! Scrat was hilarious to say the least...great family movie

Summary: Older Kids
Review: This caters more to older kids, say 7 years old and up. Although kids younger than that may enjoy it, they may not enjoy it as much. A lot of the movie is dialogue-based, more so than similar movies that are more action-based (e.g., "Lion King", "Hercules"). So, the older the kids are, the better they may like it. That may also explain why so many adults like it.

The plot is somewhat simple and a little predictable, but the good-guy / bad-guy lines and redemption of some bad-guys is uplifting. There are a variety of real-world personalities present, as opposed to many animated movies who have a limited set of personalities, but many of them.

The sound is good and animation is good. The overall presentation is excellent. A great movie for the family.

Summary: Exellent Film. Excellent Extras
Review: The short, extra film of the squirrel is worth the price of admission. What a great movie.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Funny, but...
Review: Sure, it has it's moments. It has some laughs, maybe a few tears, but overall isn't great. I didn't like it, it was cliche, and the characters were annoying. The best part was that squirrel thing. Also, it just wasn't memorable. The next day, I even forgot I saw it, it just didn't have the impact most Disney movies used to have. So, get it if you really want to, but rent it first.
