Summary: Another Music Video
Review: A very disappointing film. I am afraid that once again we are handed art direction and special effects instead of story and character developement. I really am begining to believe that there are no original ideas in Hollywood. Shades of Silence of the Lambs meets MTV with a pinch of Matrix thrown in. Just who told Jennifer Lopez she could act anyway?

Summary: Great Color, Great Costumes....Not much substance
Review: To put it simply..this movie didn't have just a real great plot. At best, it was quite weak. Most of the movie takes place inside of a serial killer's deranged, albeit very colorful mind. Actually, the film reminded me a lot of Silence of the Lambs, except you don't really care about what happens to the characters; and Jennifer Lopez is no Jodie Foster. Actually in this movie, Ms. Lopez's character acts more like Little Bo Peep, or Goldie Locks. She is just too sugary sweet. You want here to wake up and yell at someone. As for the visual aspects of the movie; the were awesome! The costumes, the terrific use of color, and all of the sets were spectacular. This will sound gross, but there is one really cool scene where a horse gets sliced like cheese between plates of glass. But, it is alive and you can see its organs moving! Really gross, and doesn't mean much to the film, but really cool, in a sick sort of way. Overall, I would buy it again....especially for the cheese slicer!

Summary: Too disturbing for me....
Review: Freaky. Disturbing. This guy is some kind of schizophrenic. His dad abused him. He has some obsession or fear with water. He's a serial killer. He kidnaps young women, locks them in this air-tight glass cage that has a toilet, food, etc., then has this automated timer to turn a shower on that makes them drown inside the cage. Then he soaks them in bleach, does something so that they are naked, covered in bleach, and he is suspended above him by chains that are in his back. And then, after that, he dumps them somewhere. Very disturbing. So he goes into a coma, and there is still this girl locked inside his glass cage, and the FBI doesn't know where that is. So Jennifer Lopez is this child therapist type person who goes into his mind to find out where she is. I'm not sure which is more disturbing, his mind or what he really does. And don't tell me I shouldn't have watched. I'm glad I did. Now I can warn you about it =)

Summary: Ouch!
Review: This movie is just plain bad. After entering Jennifer Lopez mind, it turns out she's as sick if not sicker than the schizophrenic (most overused mental disorder in Hollywood aside from autism) Apparently she fancys herself as some sort of self righteous virgin Mary. A total waste of time. This movie reminded me of a comic book, one with decent art but no story.

Summary: Twisted!
Review: How can you not love a movie as twisted as this? Jennifer Lopez (Catharine Deane), outstanding visual effects, and Vincent D'Onofrio(Yes, that is Gomer Pyle from Full Metal Jacket as Carl Stargher). WOW! EYE CANDY!! The story line does have its lulls (If you've watched it five times like myself), but Vincent D'Onofrio's creepy performance makes up for it. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET......you may not want the kids to see.....it gets a little messy....Enjoy, I did!

Summary: Dark and weird, but nothing new here.....
Review: Not a horrible movie, but it didn't really do anything for me. Basically some kind of machine is used that allows Lopez's character to see into the mind of a comatosed serial killer while she is in a dreamlike state. While inside her mission is to gain the trust of the killer's mind so that he will reveal the location where he stowes away his victims, before they are done away with. It's a pretty dark movie which I usually like and the effects are pretty cool when Lopez enters the mind of the serial killer, she runs into some really strange stuff in there, as expected. I guess my problem with this is that the story has been done so many times. So we find out that this serial killer was horribly abused as a child, big suprise. The killer also has his next victim stowed away in some secluded location, will the good guys make it in time before she suffocates? Also, I have nothing against Jennifer Lopez as an actress, but she didn't really fit here, her character has many flaws... nice to look at as always.

Summary: The cell wall
Review: Tarsem Singh was a music video director and it shows in this film. That isn't necessarily a bad thing since it gives the film an edge rarely seen. For example if this film was made by another director it would certainly not have had many of its most spectacular sequeces. The film, is a visual magnum opus. However the story lacks a little something, but again it is made up for by the visuals. Sometimes the visuals remind me of Stanley Kubrick's '2001: A space odyssey's' last sequence. The infinity sequence. Jennifer Lopez does well in the beautifully designed costumes and sets. Special effects are wonderous and so on. THe DVD definitely is the best way to experience this film. THis film is like a painting and the DVD version makes it look like a rembrandt.

Summary: The Cell: Explorations in Ideas and Images/Sex and Religion
Review: This movie stars Jennifer Lopez as a social worker who uses advanced technology to enter the mind of a child in order to coax the child out of his autistic state. Soon, police ask Lopez to enter the mind of a coma-ridden serial killer in order to discover the location of his last victim. From the description, you might think that this movie is a cheap copy of "The Matrix" but the movies are far different. "The Matrix", as much as I love it, is just an action flick. "The Cell" is different. "The Cell" is about Lopez' exploration of the killer's psyche and she unconvers his life story. The catch is that most of the movie takes place in the minds of the autistic boy and the killer. Thus, most of the film is about surreal images and fantastic dreamscapes. It is *very* symbolic. Regardless, if you take the time to figure it out, you'll find the killer's life story disturbing and fascinating. To sum it up, the movie works on two levels. First, it has lots of surreal scenes that will "blow your mind." Second, it's a movie about a twisted killer and his attempts to solve his religious and sexual problems through violence - but you have to work to get to that story. Highly recommended, but not for the kids.

Summary: Great effects, messy plot
Review: Is this a movie about the subconcious or about investigating murders? Funny, I couldnt tell. The reviews centered on the strange world of the subconcious, whereas the movie was taken up by a great number of investigatory scenes. About a reknowned child psychologist who can enter peoples subconcious through scientific suits, this movie puts this weak-seeming psychologist (Lopez) into the mind of a serial killer (Vincent D'Onofrio). Honestly, Lopez didnt fill the part. Any person who could survive the mental rigors of this killer's Marilyn Manson filled head would not be so submissive and weak seeming as Lopez. This movie is good, but not for all. I wouldn't reccomend this to anyone under 15 or over 60, because of the extreme violence toward women, and the mixed up sado-masochistic world that Lopez enters.

Summary: What's On His Mind?
Review: A very underappreciated and above average combination of science fiction and suspense. The idea of the movie is that Jennifer Lopez lives in the mind of a serial killer to find out what he did to his victim. The victim is in a cell that is gradually limiting it's oxygen supply, and the suspect is in a coma. The special effects are better than The Matrix and Hollow Man combined. THIS MOVIE WAS INTENSELY SCARY. She had to see the killer doing sick things, like abusing his children and there were many illusions in her mind involved, and that is where the special effects kicked in. VERY CREATIVE PLOT AND SCARY. Good acting, and a good movie.
