Summary: Thought Provoking and Meaningful
Review: K-PAX was an excellent movie! A little confusing at times, but if you take the time to truly understand this movie, you'll be pleasantly surprised! Kevin Spacey is phenomenal as Prot, a sweet and gentle man who apparently comes from the planet K-PAX. Prot is such a wonderful character. You really get to relate to him and love him as the story progresses. I predict an Oscar nomination for Spacey! Jeff Bridges was convincing as the psychiatrist who is supposed to evaluate Prot (they think that Prot is crazy) and eventually ends up wanting to help Prot.

The plot was very interesting and the script was witty and heartfelt. My favorite line was from Prot, "You know doctor, for a well-educated man, you seem to repeat things a lot." This is not the exact quote (I don't remember it exactly), but it is something like that. The rest of the script is filled with funny moments that really make you love Prot. You get a great view of the mental patients in the psychiatric center. You feel for them. You start to realize how fragile and lonely these people are. It's really quite and eye opener.

My reason for the four stars and not five is that everything seems to come out all at once. A lot of information is thrown at you in a very short period of time and it is very difficult to absorb it all! My favorite part of this movie is the beginning, which focuses primarily on Prot and his abnormal behavior!

Summary: Not entirely what I expected... half a thumb up.
Review: There is something that one expects when they go to see an alien movie. We expect to find something fun and exciting. Not so much in K-Pax. If you're the type that doesn't like movies of all diaologe and no action then this movie is definately not for you. All but 15 minutes of the movie takes place in a psychological hospital. Good: You get a movie that's well written and very well acted. Bad: You have to stay awake to see the acting.

Summary: What really happened?
Review: While providing escapist science fiction, this movie keeps adding layers of mystery. Viewers can interpret many aspects of the film in different ways. Even the day after seeing it, I kept wondering what really happened. Even if you know the ending and you think you've figured out the truth, you'll want to enjoy this sometimes troubling, sometimes tender, and often hilarious movie again and again. Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges make the film's multiple levels work smoothly. Spacey's casual delivery of miracles and one-liners strengthens an already solid performance, while Bridges impresses as a failing husband and father who wants to solve everyone else's problems.

Summary: boring and dull!!!
Review: Though I really enjoy these types of movies, I found this one to be very boring and reeking with worn out characters, cliches and melodrama. The characters in the hospital, the dedicated doctor and the misunderstood "alien" all combine to make this movie a "sleeper", one where you sleep thru. Don't waste your time nor money.

Summary: Spacey and Bridges are both good
Review: This was one of the better movies of the year, and I found I liked it better than I was expecting. Spacey is excellent as usual, and Jeff Bridges as his therapist also does his usual great job. Spacey almost had me convinced that he really was from another planet, expecially after the great scene where he confounds the astronomers with his knowledge of the distant solar system.

The movie is somewhat schizoid because of the contrast between the first and second halves of the movie, but I really didn't mind that too much. The first half of the movie has a much lighter tone and is the most fun, as we learn about Prot, Spacey's otherworldly (literally) character from the planet K-PAX, and the relationship between Bridges, the psychiatrist, and Spacey, is developed.

But the movie takes on a distinctly dark and sinister tone in the second half, as Dr. Powell becomes convinced that Spacey could turn violent and sets out to discover the true nature of Spacey's past, which leads him to an abandoned farm in New Mexico.

My only complaint is that they could have found a better ending. By the end of the movie, you've come to like and sympathize with the unworldly, eccentric but likable Prot character, but then he basiclly turns into a vegetable at the end of the film. But except for that, overall I enjoyed the movie. I like both Bridges and Spacey as actors, and this time Bridges plays the earthling instead of the alien visitor, as he did in the 80's movie, Starman. Big Steve says go see it and don't Bogart the popcorn.

Summary: Seeing isn't believing
Review: Touching, moving, and exquisit symbolism play a major role in Z-PAX. The incorporation of allein life and human life are portrayed as pain vs. no pain. Prot escapes his fear, his pain, his love and his emotions for nothing. he shows that seeing isn't believing and that believing is seeing. Prot believed and convinces others to believe in a world all alone, where anything is posible. See, and see, and see this movie again. The first time you do NOT catch all the symbolism, but every time you see it, it gets better and better and you understand more. THis is truely one of my favorite movies!!!!:)

Summary: Hollywood version of "Man Facing South East"
Review: Mediocre, cliched version of a very good argentinian film called "Man Facing South East". The story plots are the same, besides some minor differences. Huge rip-off, with bad results -something that Hollywood is used to do.

Summary: Sad, movie is a big downer!
Review: I found the movie very sad. If you are looking to see an uplifting movie don't go. We were hoping Kevin would have really been from KPAX.

Summary: Meet Prot
Review: K-PAX, the most refreshing vision into our social system of what is and should be. A break from the norm that makes one want to leave the planet and become a visitor on another planet, just to have the opportunity to be, without the rigid social structure already established to make everyone try to be the same. Outstanding performances by Spacey and Bridges and, of course, all the supposedly disturbed people, that you swear you have met somewhere before, someone that acts just like them. A must see!!

Summary: cheers & tears!
Review: This movie was as fascinating as the preview portrayed it to be. It made us joyful, curious & tearful too at times. Kevin Spacey plays a wonderful role. Unfortunately the ending leaves many questions & was not the ending we had hoped for.
