Summary: and to do it with only $60,000...
Review: This movie, in my opinion, was one of the greatest... great acting, great plot, great score. It makes you think, but you do not have to have a PHD in math to understand it. It amazes me that such a movie can be made with such a small budget. I highly recommend this movie.

Summary: Show me a BETTER film done for $60,000 and I will
Review: give you my eyes in a jar. This is, by far, one of the best films of 1998, and, dare I say it, the latter part of this century. It blows the doors off just about everything coming out of Hollywood lately. Sure there are influences of other films, books, stories-whatever-but EVERYTHING in this world is influenced by one thing or another. Otherwise we would have no homes, no boats, no planes, etc. This is a SMART film. This is a BEAUTIFULLY shot film. The sountrack is excellent. And the acting is pretty first-rate. The ending is a little much, but that is not the point. This is visionary cinema, pure and simple. Again, show me a better film done for $60,000 or six million dollars, for that matter, and I will give you my eyes in a jar. My hat is off to Aronofsky, cast and crew. Can't wait for the next one. Thanks for the good time!

Summary: pi is a masterpiece
Review: Pi was a beautiful movie. I loved the aspect of it being all in black and white, and how interesting the characters were. The soundtrack was beautifully done- to match the character's actions.. and the math part of the movie was really interesting. I heard it was made for around $20,000.. thats amazing because you really can't tell at all. Rent it or buy it now and you'll be doing yourself a great favor.

Summary: try to be cool but still just so-so
Review: I can't stand the math part. It's so stupid and it doesn't make any sense. Good will huntin also has a stupid math part, but at least the movie isn't about that. I still give it 3 stars 'cause it's not quite painful to watch it and I sort of like the paranoid part

Summary: Wonderfull pacing , completely engaging
Review: This is one fabulous movie. I don't remember being so completely engaged in a movie. Abrupt pacing throughout makes the protagonist's "spells" more agonizingly intense. If you love paranoia, obsession and the decay into insanity this is "the" movie for you. When the price comes down this will be the first movie I buy.

Summary: Unbelievable
Review: This movie costs only $60,000 to make yet beats just about every other movie ever made. Unbelievably clever, never corny, one never ever gets the impression of money saving. And yet it was done. Warning: this movie is for intellectuals only, a class in higher math should be a prerequisite.

Summary: Fair cinematography, interesting actors, but superb sound.
Review: This film was surely backed by some serious hype, yet I left my little home theatre unsure whether or not it was as excellent as I had heard. The dialogue, especially Cohen's internal, was interesting. Number theory was backed intelligently: "Personal note; restate my assumptions ..." The soundtrack definitely worked perfectly, and, in my opinion, was the greatest asset of this piece.

Summary: 216
Review: Imagine Eco's "Foucault's Pendulum" done by David Lynch circa "Eraserhead". That's "Pi". While some of the story and some of the visuals are old and overused in the independent film circuit, the movie is still brilliant, and very consuming. The paranoid concept of the mathematical pattern of everything, brought together by this mysterious number is very well portrayed, and much of the cinematography and editing are spectacular. Also, the score by PWEI's Clint Mansell is perfect.

Summary: An excellent movie that makes you question your reality.
Review: After watching a movie that makes you stay up all night thinking about everything you have ever known, the only thing you can do is tell other people about it. The first excellent thing about this movie is the incredible cinematography. The grainy black and white film that creates extreme emotion in every scene. The high pitch sounds and fast electronic music that is in cue with the movements of the film. The director of this film is a genius. He takes a very bizaar story and makes it seem like a documentary. Ofcourse, the best part of this film is the story. A movie based on facts and theorems found centuries ago, that are then applied to the structure of society, religion and nature. The facts presented in this film twist your thoughts and emotions, because you will never be able to picture reality the same way ever again.

Summary: Brilliant
Review: I had the privilege of seeing this film on the big screen. It's very commen that dedicated mathematicians are skeptical of portrayal in movies involving the drive and validity of mathematicians. This film primarily concentrates on madness; driving human thinking to the very edge of comfort--something common to genius (Pythagoras, Archimedes, Newton). Nevertheless, I found the mathematics to be accurate and compelling. The film beautifully intertwines the revitilization of spirituality and science. I recommend anyone that is interested in human thinking to see this movie immediately. The soundtrack embeds itself into the movie very well playing with your senses and appropriately sends you places with the protagonist, Max Cohen.
