Summary: A must for those who love (or hate) "Star Trek"
Review: "Galaxy Quest" is one of the funniest recent comedies. It is not only a parody of "Star Trek", it also makes fun of those who worship the series beyond belief. Yet, the film laughs with them, not about them.

The film is not a spoof in the style of "Airplane". The difference is that from the halfway mark on, "Galaxy Quest" could almost pass for a real episode of "Star Trek". The spoof is not too obvious which makes it all the more funny. The cast is really fantastic, especially Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver are bearly recognizeable in their roles. Tim Allen is perfect as the Kirk-like commander. The special effects by ILM are always as convincing as they should be (watch out for the brilliant effects of the old "Glaxy Quest"-episodes).

If you like the "Star Trek" series and films (like me), it is extremly unlikely that you don't like "Galaxy Quest". If you don't like "Star Trek", you will probably enjoy it, too?

Summary: Best spoof ever!
Review: This has to be the best parody of Star Trek (and all the other 60/70's space shows) ever. I am a big Star Trek fan and can see the funny side having been to many ST Cons. It not only has a good poke at the shows but also the fanz. It has a great cast, a comedy routine to rival Abbot & Costello and unlike a lot of other spoofs has its own sub plot as well. It is a must see for all Star Trek and Sci Fi fans alike.

Summary: REALLY FUN! A MUST OWN MOVIE
Review: I was having a really down day when some of my friends suggested they take me to some movie called Galaxy Quest. In less then two hours I walked out cheerful, laughing and transformed.

This is the type of movie that is a real pick me up. Within minutes you are laughing out loud (especially if you have even vague familiarity to Star Trek.) The concept of out of work science fiction series actors being mistaken by aliens as the real McCoy is brilliant. Tim Allen and Alan Rickman pull off this farce brilliantly. Even crazed Star Trek fans are portrayed lovingly.

This is a must own Movie, I have preordered the DVD

Summary: galaxy quest.
Review: we have just finished watching this film and we thought it was very funny as we are star trek fans we saw the lighter side of this sort of sci-fi. we look forward to a sequel in due cource but we thought tim allen was his usual funny self as we have never seen him in a bad film yet. and my sister loves alan rickman..

Summary: Fantastic, but a little bit gross
Review: I really enjoyed this movie. It realistically parodies nearly every aspect of Star Trek without demeaning the series. The main problem is that at one point, an alien creature is teleported on to the ship inside-out and it explodes in a grusome display of gore. If it had to happen, they really didn't have to show it completely. Nevertheless, an extremely funny film.

Summary: Never give up... never surrender!
Review: David Howard, the writer of "Galaxy Quest", has been a friend of mine for years. So, I had an opportunity to see one of the original drafts... "Captain Starshine".

I was wary when they cast Tim Allen. I laughed when they cast Sigourney Weaver. I cheered when they cast Alan Rickman. And after the years of waiting for this movie, it was all worth it. The cast and director brought together a movie with heart, spirit and a lot of laughs. Tony Shaloub and Sam Rockwell nearly steal the show from their better-known co-stars.

A great comedy classic. Yes, a Trekkie/Trekker will probably get more out of it. But that is not a pre-requisite to enjoying this film.

Summary: They've got us here!
Review: All I can say is WOW! When I saw this movie with a friend, I was prepared for a pathetic parody of Star Trek (ST:TOS and ST:TNG), but this movie completely destroyed my previous thoughts. Tim Allen was great in the role of Taggert, as was the guy who played Alexander Dane, the Brit who impersonated the "emotionless Spock."

The movie started off with a BANG, as we see the five actors sitting in a lounge, waiting for their turn to get on stage. Their show has been canceled, but they are still hired to do many boring conventions. I loved the scene where they were advertising that new computer store, with an audience that totaled ten people. I also enjoyed the actor who played Mathesar, the alien commander who set his people to impersonate the Galaxy Quest "historical documents." Even if you're not a sci-fi fan, BUY THIS DVD--it'll be worth it!

Summary: Fun and funny
Review: I didn't really want to see this movie, but ended up going on New Year's Eve 1999 with my family. To my surprise, this is a very funny and sweet adventure. I highly recommend it!

Summary: The movie that almost gave my friend a concussion...
Review: My wife and I went with another couple to see this film on the eve of a terrible snow storm. Concequently, we were the only people in the theater. We had a blast laughing ourselves hoarse and no one could tell us to shut up. At one point my friend laughed so hard he almost headed himself on the chair in front of him.

This film was a terrific send-up of Trek and its fan base. Poking fun without skewering, it takes a very satirical look at sci-fi and our fascination with it. (Being a trekker myself, my friends pointed to the screen about every three minutes and said, "There you are!")

Buy it. Definitely buy it. You won't regret it.

Final note: the most memorable scene is only on screen for a second but it's great. Barbarians at the Gate? No... Klingons at the urinals!
