Summary: A requirement for all true Star Wars fans
Review: To paraphrase Princess Vespa, "This is my industrial-sized Spaceballs video and I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT!" This is a great movie for anyone who has seen Planet of the Apes, Transformers, Alien, Star Trek, The Wizard of Oz, and of course the Star Wars movies. Hey, it even parodies the merchandise! From the opening scene, you know you're in for a lot of laughs. The plot unfolds as picky Princess Vespa and her raspy-voiced robot Dot Matrix escape in their space Mercedes to avoid marriage to a wimpy prince. Colonel Sandurz, President Skrood, and the hilarious Dark Helmet decide to capture Vespa- which leads the King to request the hot Lone Star and his sidekick Barf the Mog ("Barf, Puke, Whatevah!") to rescue the princess for a million Spacebucks. They accept since they have to pay off their drippy, slimy foe Pizza the Hut. Taking off in their Millenium Fal- er, their Space Winnebago, Lone Star, Vespa, Dot, and Barf embark on the greatest adventure in their "galaxy very, very, VERY far away" to the beat of 80s music and many great one-liners and gags. The showdown scene was awesomely funny and I loved the ending! Any Star Wars fan HAS to see this!

Review: Lone Star: I said, Take only what you need to survive while we wait for Star Wars Episode Two!Princess Vespa: But this is my industrial sized comedy and I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT!!! This is one of the best sci-fi parodies ever! It has elements from Transformers, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, Alien, and even The Wizard of Oz, but it is mainly a take-off of Star Wars. Hey, it even makes fun of the merchandise. The characters and acting were great! Bill Pullman was cute as Lone Star, and of course Mel Brooks himself is part of the cast, playing two characters. From the first scene, you know you're in for a lot of laughs. The story unfolds as, once upon a time, in a galaxy very very VERY far away, the king of the Druids sends Lone Star and his sidekick Puke ("Or Barf, Whatever!") to rescue Princess Vespa from Dark Helmet, with a million spacebucks as a reward so they can pay off Pizza the Hut. (Oh, yeah, Pizza is really tasty, but Lone Star is still the hottie.) The showdown scene with (lightsabers?) was totally hilarious. The ending was REALLY SWEET! Don't miss this awesome movie!

Summary: Too many funny one liners
Review: When I look back at this movie, several hillarious one liners come back to me. "I'm the bearded lady, who are you one of the freaks?" "I've lost the bleeps the sweeps, and the creeps". "Say good bye to your two best friends lonestar, and I don't mean the ones on the winnabego" "I can't breathe in this thing!" "It's mega maid! She's gone from.." never mind. Anyways, at 24 I still find this movie as amusing when I was 11 and perhaps even more so. This was Rick Moranis's best movie by far. Michael Winslow makes a cameo in the movie. I don't understand why he didn't recieve a lead role. This movie makes fun of every big space movie ever produced, which include Star Wars, Star Trek, Aliens, Planet of the Apes, Transformers the Movie (a cartoon), and many others. I feel this was Mel Brooks's finest movie.

Summary: great satire from the late eighties
Review: Mel Brooks definitely lives up to expectations with Spaceballs. This parody of the Star Wars movies will deliver laughs whether you are a sci fi fan or not. The cast of characters (including Bill Pullman, John Candy, and Rick Moranis...and of course Mel Brooks) closely parallels the familiar cast of Star Wars, but Rick Moranis takes the cake as Dark Helmet, the Darth Vader-like figure. ("And now you see that evil will always triumph, because good is dumb.") Personally, I found this movie amusing at 10, and now at 22 I still think it's wonderful. Most of the other reviews give you an idea of what the movie contains, so I won't get into a long explanation, but I have to recommend this one pretty highly as a great comedy.

Summary: Mel Brooks's last great movie.
Review: The great Mr. Brooks has, unfortunately, been on a decline with his last several movies. "Spaceballs" is the last one to have the same hilarity as "The Producers" and "Young Frankenstein." All of the reviewers before me have said most of what I wish to say, so let me just draw attention to one point. As in many of the best movies, the villains really steal the show. George Wyner is an extremely underrated actor who, as Colonel Sandurz, goes just over-the-top enough to endear himself to the audience without being annoying. He has some of the best scenes. Mel Brooks is a delight as President Skroob. "I can't make decisions! I'm a President!" And Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet...whoever cast him should be praised. Casting one of the most harmless actors in screen history (just watch him in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS) as an evil planet-destroying villain is the icing on the cake. He really makes this film.

Review: I absolutly love this movie. It is halarious. Mel Brooks could very well be one of the funiest movie makers of all time. Funny, he doesn't look Druish! (movie pun). It has parodies of some of the best sci-fi movies (an alien pops out of a guy's stomach (Alien) and starts to sing and dance). They also in a way interact with the audience(they accidently turn off the movie with a remote and when the movie plot goes by kind of quickly, they ask the audience if they got all of it). You should definnately buy this movie and watch it over and over again until you have cought every single joke.

Summary: A hilarious take on Star Wars
Review: "Spaceballs" is another movie that makes me laugh until tears starts streaming down my face. The late John Candy is hilarious as Barf, half-man, half dog, as he says in the film "I'm my own best friend". Joan Rivers is just as funny as the voice for the robot Spot, a female take on C-3PO. I loved the virgin alarm. Daphne Zuniga (pre-Melrose Place) and Bill Pullman are just as great to watch in this hysterical spoof on "Star Wars" however Rick Moranis is my favorite as Dark Helmet. His character is such a dork it is too funny. Not the brightest light bulb in the group of morons. I can't really pick a favorite scene because I think every scene is truly memorable even if the film is a bit schlocky at times. I can only enjoy this movie on tape as opposed to on tv, since tv censors a couple of hilarious lines which annoys the heck out of me. "Spaceballs" is certainly no satire like "Spinal Tap" was but it is a spoof and an enjoyable spoof it is.

Review: Ok its not mel brooks best films (Blazing Saddles , The Producers and Young Frankenstein) are far better, but I give 4 stars for a great film (entertaining, and better visual effects than the original star trek/wars) and for Bill Pullman wearing the indiana jones jacket !

Summary: All-Around Great Spoof
Review: Spaceballs is perhaps the best Sci-fi spoof of all time. It has already been mentioned that it spoofs Star Wars, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, but it really spoofs nearly every big Sci-fi movie ever. Star Wars, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, Alien, 2001: A Space Odyssey ("...they've gone to plaid!") and many more. Some of the best sequences are the "ludicruous speed" scene, the "instant video" scene, and the whole Yogurt part. Mel Brooks plays the spoof of Star Wars' Yoda who is the guardian of the Schwartz and is also heavily into Spaceballs Merchandising, including the Spaceballs flamethrower. ("The kids love this one.") Rick Moranis, of course, is the Darth Vader spoof, and I have to congradulate the casting department, because Rick Moranis and Darth Vader have to be as close to being polar opposites as you can come. Although I have heard it called unfunny and lame by others, I think it is a very funny movie and deserves to be watched not only by Sci-fi fans, but by anybody looking for a good laugh.

Review: I've seen literally thousands and thousands of amazing movies in my time and I still have yet to see one that is more memorable and utterly hilarious than this one. This is a masterpiece. If you like the movie "The Princess Bride" you'll love this one. I'd say it's the best of the best of the spoof movies.
