Rating: Summary: An absolute must buy for any Babyln 5 fan. Review: This set is, indeed, an absolute must buy for any Babylon 5 fan. Even if you are among those who feel B5's first season is the weakest, you still must buy Season 1 in order to assure the release of Season 2 and so on. Sales rule the day. This box set exists because The Gathering/In The Beginning DVD sold so well. If it had not, then this set would not now be available to fans. Buy season one to ensure the release of the amazing seasons 2, 3, and 4, not to mention the sometimes spectacular season 5. There's not a single episode of Babylon 5 that any true fan would not gladly sit through. Buy them all and enjoy.
Rating: Summary: It is about time... Review: A great series should be on DVD. Babylon 5's first season is an interesting one. There are very few throw away episodes in the entire Babylon 5 series, and season 1 holds to this pretty well. Beyond simply introducing the characters, the first season introduces the backstory in a way that moves the plot along. Many sci-fi series are great at coming up with a backstory and spend the first season throwing details at you. Babylon 5 has its own complicated universe, but it prefers to give its details out while getting things done. The Deathwalker episode gives details from a backstory (the Dilgar War, VCRs, Windswords, etc.) while at the same time showing how the major empires and their ambassadors have their own agendas and interests. Little details from the first season continue to be important later in the series, confirming it is a story with a clear start, middle, and end. This makes the series rewarding. Conspiracies are actually solved, and wars actually have battles. Unlike the X-Files which added layer upon layer to its conspiracy, B5's plot is actually worth keeping track of. While I am an X-Files fan, I always felt like the series was going in circles. I never felt that way with B5. B5's first season is actually more fun to watch when you've seen some later seasons (you notice little details), but its an easier starting point than the second or third season (what's this earth-mimbari war they are talking about? what do you mean "what do you want?" Huh?)

Rating: Summary: Thank the great Maker! Review: This series is a much needed boost for Sci Fi fans. Now with release of the DVDs I can free up some space on my TIVO! Great writing, acting and staying true to the "arc". Watch it and you will get "hooked".
Rating: Summary: An epic tale that never disappoints Review: I remembered watching Babylon 5 from the beginning, which started out as a casual interest. The best thing about the first season is watching the remaining seasons, reflecting back upon many of the themes within the first season. I was spoiled by many other sci-fi series into expecting to be disappointed by episodes that captured my imagination. Not true with Babylon 5. My imagination soared, and the plot twists never ceased to amaze me. Imagining what a Vorlon looked like, and then finding out what they were in the second season, to find out their true colours in the fourth season. The concept of the Shadows, truly amazing! Slowly introduced in the first season as Morden's associates, then as the ancient enemy! I kept expecting to be let down by this series, then I learned there finally was a tv series that kept fuelling wonder and excitement since the original Star Trek series. The first season sets the stage...
Rating: Summary: Best Sci-Fi Ever Written, Period Review: I am a life long Star Trek fan and even more so Star Wars fan. When B5 came out, I was a snob and ignored it. I thought the costumes were silly and the show wouldn't last, so I didn't watch it. Then TBS took the series and aired "Into the Fire" which was simply a brilliant hook for the B5 newbie. I then watched seasons 1-4 in order during the 7pm est dinner slot and was just stunned speechless at how good it was. To be honest, I feel I was lucky to have found B5 just before season 5 as I got to see the the first 4 seasons in 88 days instead of 4 years. I then lived and died with season 5 as the series wound up. The series is basically a 4 year story and a fifth year fill, which still has some very good episodes. "Day of the Dead" in season 5 is one of the single best episodes of any show I have ever seen, but you need to have seen the first 4 years to really appreciate it. If you can watch the first 109 episodes and not be utterly emotionally spent and blown away after watching "sleeping in light" you are, well... As a fan, I can't wait to get my hands on these DVDs. I have VHS of the series, WB retail and Sci-Fi for teh rest. More than that, to get my hands on teh second half of season 2, all of season 3 and most of season 4 that never made it into stores. Lets go WB, get this right and as always a big thanks to JMS for the best TV show I have ever seen.
Rating: Summary: It's not Star Trek, and that is good Review: After teasing us with a very funky video release (what genius thought it was a good idea to release the seasons out or order?) we finaly get the DVD's many fans have been craving! The best sci-fi series so far, it showed that a Sci-fi series can have better character developement and a compelling story than a 'regular' show. I've laughed harder at scenes on Bab5 than during some sitcoms, felt worse for the characters than during 'poignant' moments on dramas, and been stunned by plot twists. A must buy. No other show ever did it as well as Bab5, and now I see other shows incorporating Bab5 themes and ideas (Andromeda, late DS9, Firefly). Incidently, 'In the Beginning' is a TV movie set before the pilot episode. If you haven't seen season 4 episode "Atonement" I recommend waiting until you do, or else the episode won't have the impact it should.
Rating: Summary: The greatest Sci-Fi story that has yet been written Review: This is a must have for any person. Who loves a story told from the begininng the middle and the end!It ties together so well! Even if your not a sci-fi fan. Just watch it and enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Two thumbs way way up !!! Review: I consider myself a real expert on the Babylon 5 universe and story. I have watched this series for over 7 years and even if i alrealdy know the story, i still love watching the episodes. I own the whole collection in videos : it's good but the ultimate thing is the DVD. Finally, this series got what it deserved : a real DVD quality. As for the story, greatly inspired from the Lord of the Rings, Babylon 5 is a real epic story with complex characters such as Londo, G'Kar, ........ Even if there is an obvious hero (sheridan who only appears in the 2nd season), Babylon 5 is not about him : it is about a place, Babylon 5 (a sort of United Nations of the stars), and how it changed everybody. JMS (the author) has become a real master of the science fiction genre. Each episode should be watched several times in order to understand the whole thing. And yet again, that won't be enough if you do not read the books. A conclusion : if you are a fan, you already know that you should buy it. If you are new at this, go for it and BUY IT !!!
