Summary: Smallville is Awesome
Review: The title says it all. I don't really need to say anything else. I've been an avid fan of Smallville ever since it came out a couple years ago. I still remember the first time I saw the commercial for it. It was in a movie theater, but I forget what movie I was seeing at the time. See, it's that good! LOL Anyway, I've tried not to miss any episodes, but I know I've missed one here or there. I was actually able to see an episode I never saw before after I bought this 1st season. And here I thought I never missed an episode in the 1st season. I can't wait till I get the 2nd season which is released on May 18. I already pre-ordered it. One more thing, I think the guy they picked to play Lex Luthor is perfect for the part. I love his character, but I am a guy, so I don't like him that way. LOL Also, the actress who plays Lana is HOT, and the one who plays Chloe is pretty cute. All in all they have an awesome storyline, and it's a good wholesome family show. The only thing I'm sad about is he hasn't been able to learn how to fly, and he hasn't created his suit yet, but the great stories they have more than make up for it. I give Smallville an A+++++!

Summary: Holy Kryptonite Supie
Review: The entire first season is such that I watch each episode with earphones on and a bowl of cereal. I do this over and over again. I grew up with Superboy and his superdog Krypto. By the way, what ever happened to Krypto? Anyways, the script answers many questions as to what Clark was going through growing up as a teenager in a small town. I can sense his wanting to grow up now, attitude. His frustration over hiding his powers, and his covering his tracks when he had to do something super to save someone. Lex Luthor, I can now see, how he developed his totally dimented personality. He shows us that he is not only bad, but will become totally EVIL (The apple doen't fall far from the tree). This is a great series.

Summary: The first season was, well, SUPER...
Review: "No tights, no flights" was the watchword to the writers of this "Superman the Prequel" TV show. Tom Welling is a handsome Clark Kent, wrestling with teenage angst and hormones as well as the added issues of concealing his super powers from a curious and dangerous world. No, he can't fly (yet.)

The parents, ably played by Annette O'Toole (yes, Lana Lang of the Superman films) and John Schneider (Dukes of Hazard) and a very attractive supporting cast make this drama worth watching if you like sci-fi, graphic novel fiction or fantasy.

The really big bright spot is Michael Rosenbaum, who plays the not-yet-evil-genius rich boy Lex Luthor. His acting is absolutely amazing, and he pulls the best out of his fellow cast members in every scene together. Kristin Kreuk is the pretty prom princess Lana Lang, Alison Mack is the too-smart-for-her-own-good Chloe Sullivan, girl reporter. John Glover plays the smarmiest of smarms, Lionel Luthor, nasty father to Lex. Look up "dysfunctional family father" and his face is there in the dictionary.

The stories tend, first season, to be a kind of "freak-of-the-week", with various odd powers conferred by the meteor rocks that bombarded Smallville in the first, thrilling episode. Never mind the physics that a rock smaller than a softball can create a crater the size of Tunguska, and that there is so much meteor rock distributed around Smallville that the mass of all of it, converted to energy, would have vaporized the planet. The meteor rocks (yes, it's Kryptonite, what else) play a big role in the first season, but the interaction and conflict between the Luthors and the Kents is also played to the hilt. Just forget physics and enjoy (not a difficulty for most people!)

We watched this show with utter delight--for us, there hasn't been so much fun in a TV series since Star Trek Next Generation.

Summary: It's A Bird! It's A Plane! It's Tom Welling!
Review: Smallville is an excellent rendition of the Man of Steel's humble beginnings. The show is groundbreaking, truly a new genre. F/X notwithstanding, the show's true greatness comes from its character development. Clark, Lana, Pete, Chloe, Lex, and an all-star ensemble, make the show what it truly is . The show does grow campy as the seaason progresses though, what with its kryptonite infused villain-of-the-week growing somewhat tiresome. However the show is truly great, and its cliffhanger season finale leads excellently into the second season, which improves upon the short comings of the first.

Summary: Smallville is the Greatest
Review: If you liked the series a few years back (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) then you will love this even more. The special effects start off a little corny, but by the third or fourth episode they get a little more professional and risky. Tom Welling is one of the better actors in the beginning, but the others seem to be taking acting lessons and catch up with his performance. Since this is a WB series, the love plots get a little carried away and complicated. This series will make girls melt at the love stories and guys grunt at the action. A car gets blown up every few episodes, and nice ones roll out with a 20-somethings Lex Luther behind the wheel. This series shows his relationship with his father as a possible contributing factor to his future evil life. In the mean time, he is Clark's best friend.
This series is all about Clark developing his powers and finding out the real story of what happens before little Clarkie-boy grows up to become SUPERMAN!!!

Summary: Smallville- its about time
Review: What a great series, as a middle aged adult I have grown up with the Superman Legend an have enjoyed this show immensely. The writers and creators have maintained and remained true to that legend. Tom Welling is the perfect Clark Kent (Superman) and I am looking forward to future seasons (can't wait to see him fly!) as every episode tops it's predecessor.

Summary: A little SMALL on bonus stuff, but still a "must-have"
Review: Having been a HUGE Superman fan since I was a li'l tyke, I had very high expectations of this "Smallville" show when it first aired. And the amazing thing about this show, is that it was NOTHING like I expected, and THAT was a good thing! No tights, no flight, no actual Superman....yet. This is a very well written drama, that has some nice "X-Files" elements to it, and tells the story of a teenage Clark Kent who is just beginning to learn who and what he is...and what he is destined to become. No matter if you are a Superman fan or not, you WILL enjoy this show! Just be sure to pay attention as you watch each episode, because something that was subtly mentioned or seen, tends to pop up on a bigger scale episodes later. Get this complete first season, and enjoy one of the few shows on television that I personally feel is worth watching.
My only gripe, is this collection has very little bonus stuff. There's a commentary track for the first 2 episodes, and deleted scenes (with optional commentary) for these 2 episodes as well. The interactive tour of "Smallville" is just okay, but if you are interested in storyboarding, there's a very good one done with the pilot, with storyboard/screen comparison. And if you have a DVD-ROM, there are some cool bonus things to enjoy (which I won't ruin for you) All in all, I would have enjoyed commentary tracks on all the episodes, with some of the cast. And maybe it's just me, but I am never fully impressed with a DVD unless it has a gag reel/bloopers (Apparently they are adding a gag reel to the second season set that comes out in May...Whoo-Hoo!!)
But, overall, this series will satisfy you, even if the bonus stuff doesn't. Oh, and be prepared to get a little misty-eyed in at least ONE episode (Not gonna ruin it, but the one that got me, was the one that has the song "true colors" playing in the background)
Now GO! BUY THIS FIRST SEASON SET!

That's My Opinion, But You're Welcome To It.

Summary: Every episode is an adventure...
Review: I have watched Smallville for a year, and have anticipated the release of the DvD series pack. I must say, Smallvile is the best television drama I have ever seen. Emphasis on the word "drama." The acting is constructed in a way to give the feeling of seriousness, while still remaining a good form of escapism. Even on days when I'm just exhausted, I still try to watch Smallville. It is the best form of entertainment for young people that I have seen in years. Believe it or not, I can remember about 10 yrs. into the past. Nothing compares to it. The special effects are good, the writing excellent. Every episode plays out like a movie. If you need something interesting, romantic, adventurous, or science fiction-related, get Smallville today.
