Rating: Summary: Quirky Fun Review: Good French comedy, if you like French comedy. Silly, and it asks a bit much of the audience in terms of patience and suspension of you know what, but fun.
Rating: Summary: fun fun and clever Review: Hey, this movie has got it all: comic of situation, words and characters ! I just saw the recent US version of it (with, of all people, Christina Applegate) , and , oopps, what were they thinking? It just does not compare with the original! I particularly enjoyed the performance of the French actress playing Beatrice de Montmirail: the reviewer who said before me that the movie lampoons the French upper-class, nouveau or old upper, and that the medieval lexicon used throughout by the medieval escapees is part of the fun ( I am not sure it is truly medieval: it seems pretty manipulated to me to sound Rabelaisian but it actually reeks of modern obscene sonorities...) is right on the money. It is lost in the sub-titled translation as well as in the US version, but it is hilarious in the original : this poor provincial-conventional Beatrice always grasping for the hippest most vacant slang to show her relevance to this modern world, is one of the funniest thing in the plot. Non-French speakers should not shy from the film either: the plot is still full of highly original comic touches throughout and beautifully paced. I laughed my head off!
Rating: Summary: The Most Pathetically Terrible Movie I Have EVER Seen Review: I am a terrible movie afficianado, and this one was the creme de la creme of terrible movies. The 'plot' centers on a count and his vassal from 1076 who are magically transported into 1996 by a senile sorcerer. As you can imagine, wackiness ensues. Unfortunately, nowhere in the entire movie does an actual story line emerge, and the characters are completely obnoxius. This is unfortunate, as there are some very skilled actors and actresses in the movie. If you like garbage, then watch this movie. Otherwise, save your money to buy something worth watching.
Rating: Summary: The Best! Review: I can't imagine anyone being able to keep from laughing throughout this film! If you hate subtitles, watch this anyway. Believe me, you'll soon forget they're there. The facial expressions alone are priceless! I can't recommend a better comedy than this.
Rating: Summary: monty-pythonish with plot Review: I generally don't like movies with subtitles, but this one kept me laughing so much that I didn't notice! It starts out like a Monty Python movie, but it follows an interesting, if unbelievable, storyline. The actors added a lot of situational comedy that I believe is lacking in most other movies.
Rating: Summary: This is great Review: I started to admire Jean Reno after watching this movie. Also I think Christian Clavier's character building is worth seeing. What happened to the Visitor 2000?? I cannot wait to see. However, I cannot wait to see the Visitor III as well.
Rating: Summary: Tres, tres, bien!! Review: I watched this video in Fench with Eglish sub titles in my french class. It is a very funny movie about 1 midevil knight and his servant. They go forward in time on accident when they drink a potion that is supposed to make the knight able to change the corse of an aarow that kills his belovede's father. His love won't marry him then and all he ever wanted was to have a family and decendents. Once they show up in the present day, everyone thinks the kningt is the long lost cousin of this one girl, who is really the knigt's decendant. It is hallarious the way the midevil knight and servant react to modern things. They don't realize what time they are in. This movie has a twist and a problem at the end, which I guess is fixed in the second movie. We are in the middle of watching it (it is Les Visiteurs 2 I think), but it's no as easy to understand for me because there are not English subtitles in the version we are watching. The only reason this movie is rated R is because there is a lot of bad words. In France (where it is origionally from), i think it was only rated PG, but i'm not that sure, so don't take my word for it. Have a fun time watching Les Visiteurs!!!!!!!

Rating: Summary: One of the best french comedies of the 90's Review: If you are just a little bit into French Humour or just want to give it a try, just buy this movie. The Visistors and The Dinner Game (also available in zone 1) are by far the best comedies of the 10 past years. Not full of finesse maybe, but just plain simple laugh... Enjoy !
Rating: Summary: Close to a cult movie !!! Review: It amazes me how can a comedy deal with a thema that has been for quite a while already explored, but still bring hard laughs and so much fun ! It's the authentic "Don Quixote" from France ! It does change your way of seeing euro comedy, and can make you become a true fan of it, just like I became !
