Rating: Summary: This is an excellent way of first perceiving the story. Review: I really liked this television series. I have a lousy copy (I taped it off of the BBC), so I decided to order a new copy. This is a must-see for any hitchhiker fan. If you have already read the books, seen the plays, heard the radio series, or have already witnessed the story in another form, you might be dissapointed by it, but I was introduced to the GUIDE story with this series. So, Isuggest this to anyone and everyone who want a good laugh.
Rating: Summary: Hoopy! Review: Perhaps it's because I saw this show before I read the book... But despite the low budget and cheesy effects (hey, it's BBC... and it was made in 1981, fer cryin' out loud) I thought that this was a great adaptation. The books are hilarious, and the TV show is almost as funny. I'm afraid of the upcoming film, though...
Rating: Summary: Cool it brings back memories Review: cool movie i can remember watching it on ABC channel 2 in Australia with my big bro. thanks joe its the best birth day present
Rating: Summary: great movie. very funny Review: if you are into a british sci-fi commedy then this is the movie for you. originaly a book by Douglas Adams
Rating: Summary: Terrible! Review: I've read the books a dozen times and listened to the play a lot. All marvelous. And I bought this video. It made my heart sink actually, and now I don't want to watch it again. Actually I'd rather forget I ever saw it. But for newbies I suppose it's ok, although the budget is REALLY low. Of course it's the story that matters most, but the costumes are really awful, and Zaphod's head is by far the worst. I'm afraid people are not going to laugh at the jokes but at the costumes and props. So long and thanks for nothing.
Rating: Summary: DON'T PANIC!! This is a great purchase!! Review: The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy is one of those books that you would think there is no way that it could be done right as a movie. Well guess what? IT HAS BE DONE!!!! This is a must have for EVERY "Hitchhiker's" fan. Even if you never heard of the book, radio series, etc, and are a fan of british humor in the vein of Monty Python's Flying Circus, you will love this. The movie isn't actually just based on the book, Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, but is based on the 1st 3 books; The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy,The Resturant At The End Of The Universe, and Life The Universe And Everything. Sure the effects are low budget as hell, but that is all part of it's charm. This is a comedy based on story not effects. I actually think that the effects add to the humor. This is a classic and will always be a permanent part of my movie collection.I just have one question, WHEN WILL THIS COME OUT ON DVD?!?!?
Rating: Summary: This is an excellent cult classic that I recommend you see! Review: Its, Fun, interesting, and you'll want to own it
Rating: Summary: Pro's And Con's Review: This is a must-have for all major Hitchiker fans, however if you're the kind of person that picked up the book once or twice-don't get it. The video is full of over-acting and poor special effects. But, if you are a huge fan the excitement of seeing your favorite characters on TV is too good to pass up. So if you're a fan, the pro's outweigh the con's. But if you're not it's vice-versa.
Rating: Summary: Excellent adaptation from book to video. Review: This is a classic! Its dated look does not diminish the satire. I read the book and the characters live in my head. Sometimes one becomes disappointed with the movie's interpretation...but, Marvin, at his whinning best is exactly how I perceived him.
Rating: Summary: One of the best videos ever! A must see! Review: I've been a big fan of THHGTTG for many years. I've read all the books (including the fifth, Mostly Harmless), played the old Infocom game, heard the radio program, and seen the TV series from BBC on PBS many times. It was funny the first time I saw it, and it's still funny the millionth time. This, IMHO, is a definate cult classic. Sure, it can get confusing at times the way it jumps around a lot, but that adds to the charm of the whole thing. It's a shame that the series didn't go all the way through the whole series of books, but we'll just have to wait and see what the rumored movie will have in store. In the meantime, if you read the book or heard the radio show, you absolutely MUST see this video. It's the hoopiest thing since Vogon poetry!
