Summary: Beautifully drawn, but where's the rest?
Review: Blood was one that I picked up as my first anime purchase in over three years, and it has returned me to the fold. In my time away I had began to think of my collection as something from my childhood. Then I watched Blood and remembered why I used to like anime so much. The film feels like only half of one at 40 minutes long, and during the documentary I swear I saw extra sequences and bits that just aren't in the film. Which is a shame because the battle among the rafters looks cool.
The animation is superb, it looks beautiful and the CGI does not make a horrible contrast with the traditional cell paintings.

Blood is one dvd that every true anime fan should own.

Summary: Excellent-For what it is.
Review: Blood-The Last Vampire is a short story about a mysterious girl named Saya. In Blood, Saya (the last vampire of her kind) hunts down other vampire like creatures with the aid from a secret organization.

Made by the production company that created Ghost in the Shell. Blood-The Last Vampire offers the viewer traditional animation in combination with computer generated imagery, in one of the best animated films of the year.

For anyone interested in gothic anime, or who wants to see the best in modern animation-I recommend this film.

Summary: too short
Review: This movie had a lot of potential, manga movies always have gr8 art, good storylines/plots, action..everything, however even though this movie was 83 mins long, it did not explain much and it leaves u with an unfullfilled desire 2 watch more. it is a gr8 movie, however it should have more 2 it (2 explain the character saya, and the other demons in the movie, and her involvement with the military). There could have been so much more put in2 this movie, but it was just a let down.

Summary: This isn't for the mindless...or is it?
Review: When I first saw this movie I saw veiled references to a certain anti-American sentiment, especially regarding the US bases in Okinawa, but others may differ in their opinion. I kind of interpreted it in that fashion because of the attitudes certain scenes depicted in regards to the Japanese versus the Americans.

The plot itself, however, leaves you wanting for more (I was a bit unsatisfied at least), especially since there isn't much more from the storyline that you can draw from. Certainly, this movie was an advancement in the fact that they used 3D animation (shown clearly by the first few scenes in the train) for the background, and this is something revolutionary for its period. But much has changed, and better series have been made since its production.

I would suggest the Hellsing series as something better if you want better vampire plot, much smoother animation, and something to talk about.

Summary: Blood the Last Vampire
Review: Wonderfully done graphics, really good shading and so forth.
As far as the plot goes it might as well be a situation of, Plot? Oops, did we need one of those?

Your more or less dropped into the middle of the story and then bounced from scene to scene so quickly you're still trying to figure out what was happening in the last one. Unfortunately, you never do. The only piece of evidence that even corresponds with the title "Blood the Last Vampire" is a little folder thingy but even that's pretty sketchy. Mostly you just run into some pretty fun slice and dice scenes with Saya *the supposed last vampire, or "origanal" as she is referred to all the time (I kept saying, the origanal of WHAT??)* kicking some...creature ass. That's another problem, you never find out exactly what she's killing and why and then combine all this along with Saya 's last scene and it turns out to be one of those movies that will leave you with a "Huh? Did I miss something here?" kinda feeling.
The only reason to buy this movie is for the graphics, but otherwise don't bother. Go buy Princess Mononoke or something with a halfway decent plot!

Summary: tons of show, little tell
Review: manga has done it again, they've made another leep into the future of animation. Blood is a mixture of high definition animation and computer generated animation. The movie is a dark tale of a girl who is the last of the origanal vampires that, with the help of a secret orginazation, kills other vampires. Blood's strong points make this movie effective but its weak points really hurt the overall presentation.
Pros: great animation style, solid soundtrack, a good mix of english and japanese dialogue with good voice over acting, a lot of extras for an anime dvd.
Cons: zero story line, zero character development, the movements are a touch slow (not a big problem but it is noticeable), very short movie (50 minutes).
In conclusion Blood is basically a show off movie. Its manga's way of showing (or trying to show) that they're ahead of the pack. The movie has so little to it that its almost sad. I do like the film on the overall and it is definitely a film that anime fans should at least rent. The behind the scenes feature is a nice addition to go along with several other extras. The biggist problem the fans of the movie might want to worry about is that I bet manga will continue this series in servel more (50 minute) pieces. O well I guess if it worked for the end of evangelion (great movie) then maybe it can work for this.

Summary: Wonderful Animation, Characthers, Now what about the story?
Review: As mentioned above, Blood has a very high animation quality, and I found the characthers all very appealing, but there seems to be a large storyline hole. We need to learn more! I loved it, but it would be better if we knew something more about it! I'm hoping for a sequel. SEQUEL!! And indeed, their is blood and violence and the like, but it's not half as bad as you'll see in other mangas. Another thing I liked, was there wasn't any nudity..and that's rare now a day's really....

Anyhow, you'll be angry when the credits roll by, it ended much too quickly, but that leaves time for a sequel...and whatever this says about missing plot..RENT IT!

Summary: Visually Stunning Anime
Review: This is a wonderfully done Anime with ONE small problem. Storyline. It seems like you come in at the middle of the movie and gain no sort of character background at all...that and you're left with a very disturbing ending of "Where's the rest?" The movie is said to be around 80 some minutes long...but the movie itself is about 40-45 minutes...the rest is dedicated to the movie's development as well as theatrical trailers. Kudos to the design and 3D work...it's one of the more visually stunning anime that I've seen but if you're going to make them that short, there REALLY has to be a series!

Summary: Style over Content
Review: I had read that this title was supposed to be fantastic, so when I saw it in my local video store, I grabbed the DVD version and headed home. Many of the other reviews here hit it on the head; the art of this title is not my favorite style, but it did develop a nice dark mood. The work at lighting and textures was also quite excellent solely in the light of artistic expression and achievement. A pity that it was used in conjunction with the plot/script for Blood. The script and plot are useless. There was absolutely no character development, no discernible plot of any kind, and theshort run time leaves you annoyed and wanting a whole lot more, both in terms of length and quality. This movie quite simply is not up to par. It actually feels like this may have been made as a promotional item by a studio as an example of their artistic abilities, in the hopes of earning a much larger project based on what was shown here. If the art/layout were removed, it would be easy to recognize this as a sub-standard addition to the genre. It MIGHT be worth renting for the art, but you'll be annoyed when the credits roll.

Summary: SWORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Movie Summary: Enter Saya with braid, sword and dripping with attitude. She kicks [...butt] and breaks her sword. She kicks some more [...butt] with a shovel and saves a teacher. She gets a new sword and finishes kicking [...butt]. Exit Saya with braid, new sword and still dripping with attitude.

My Opinion: I liked Blood a lot. I was surprised at its length, but that didn't ruin it for me. I found it to be a great story but then I have never been one that needs to have every little detail explained. Blood is the story of one episode in the life of Saya the slayer. This episode takes place on an American military base in Japan. Saya is working with an American agent to track down a cell of vampire demons that feed on humans. She is quite mysterious and we don't learn a lot about her. Some viewers won't do well with this. I liked it. She reminded me a lot of the child vampire Claudia in Interview with the Vampire. I love both characters. I liked having to use my imagination to fill in the back-story. I also liked coming in during the middle of the action. Blood is very much what you would get if you took a good 90-minute anime movie and cut out everything that wasn't absolutely necessary. It does require the viewer to work a little by both using his imagination and paying attention to the story. A lot of viewers aren't up for this. They want everything explained and all the blanks filled in. For them, Blood will come up short. I found the animation to be awesome. The blend of digital and normal animation worked well. I wouldn't mind seeing more of this type. The combination of Japanese and English worked well also. Overall I found Blood to be a fun an entertaining movie that with a little imagination is something great.

DVD Quality: The Feature is 48 minutes long. Video: Widescreen anamorphic - 1.85:1 with crystal clear amazing animation. Sound: English DD 5.1, English DD 2.0, Japanese DD 2.0. The English DD 5.1 is excellent. Extras: "The Making of Blood", Trailers, Image Gallery, Manga DVD catalog. Menus: The menus are average.

What You Should Do: Check it out if you are an anime fan that can handle a story that does not explain every little thing to you. Blood is quite short clocking in at only 48 minutes so it might be a good idea to see if you like it before buying it.
