Summary: Groundhog Day an original retelling of Beauty and the Beast
Review: Groundhog Day is a refreshing retelling of the classic "Beauty and the Beast" Bill Murray is the Beast and Andie McDowell is Beauty. Bill Murray, a self centered, sarcastic weatherman (Phil Connors) is sent to Punxsatawney, PA to cover Groundhog Day festivities, finds himself trapped living the same day, over and over again. Andie McDowell plays his beautiful, sensitive and intelligent producer. What do you do when you have to live the same day forever? Harold Ramis spun a very original, funny and enlightening tale around this premise. Bill Murray is the center and this is perhaps one of the best casting choices and performances I have seen from Bill Murray. It was like the script/story was made for him. It is also a more "faithful" telling of the story of "Beauty and the Beast" than Disney's telling a few years back, with some real insight into the nature of what a beast could be. And like Disney's telling, Groundhog Day is full of magic, mystery and comedy and some important life experiences. From a technical point of view, the editing is smack on, never seemingly intrusive, great camera work. The sound is great.

Summary: Don't hide from the shadow...
Review: The idea of Groundhog's day is an excellent one. The question is raised, "What if you had a second chance." To make things right, to clear your conscience, or even to say I love you. But, what if you were given not only one chance, but three then four. Slightly drastic?

What if you lived every day over and over again until you had achieved the mission of that day. Confusing? (I always say that when I get jumbled.) Well, don't be confused. If I was in the position to relive my life, knowing what I know now, by jove I think I would be a tad more towards the bright side. (As Monty said) It is true that this is a comedy, because you wonder as time goes by, "When will it all end!"

The character Murray plays is a perfect one for him. Someone who thinks they have it all together, then when they take a second look, then a fourth, realizes he is really more in the dark than he ever expected. But there is a deeper, and very serious side to the story (As there should be in atleast one out of ten comedies)...when you love someone, and don't tell them, what is the result?

Time after time He bumfundles his days trying to learn the every waking fact about the girl he's fallen in love with. I liked this stuff, and if you ever wondered what the same day twice looks like, see this baby. (Plus, if you have the kinda crush I have on Andie Macdowell {next to her being Geena Davis} then your gonna like it.) 5 stars for good questions, answers and a great story...

Summary: Great Movie for everyone! Will be a Classic!
Review: I saw this at the theater, on TV, and I plan to get the DVD soon because I'm wearing out the VHS version. It's very funny! The message behind it shows that even a jerk can change; only Phil Conners didn't have a choice in this movie! It's great to watch anytime, but fun in the winter, especially after the Christmas hubbub is overwith.

Review: 93 glowing reviews with one lone dissenter. Scroll down, you'll find him. Giving this film a 'one-star' review is like standing on a mountaintop and screaming "I have no taste!" Also, anyone who uses the word "dilly" in a review is not to be trusted.

This film marked a major turning point in Murray's already interesting career. It's funny, profound and touching without digressing into any of the baser attributes associated with those narrative qualities: funny not crass, profound but not pretentious and touching without being sappy. This is a high-concept comedy that explores every avenue of its absurd premise and finds something new at every turn.

Excellent writing, wonderful acting and tight, controlled direction.

Summary: One of Murray's best
Review: Groundhog Day is a very good romantic comedy. Bill Murray is a guy who has the worst day of his life, and then finds he is trapped in it and must relive Groundhog Day until he makes everything the best it can possibly be. Even though the plot depends on similar scenes occuring numerous times, it never gets dull. By the way, I actually counted the number of times Murray relives Groundhog Day, and it comes to six weeks! I don't know if this was intentional, but it's a nice touch.

Review: I bought this for my husband, who absolutely loves it. Each time you see it, you catch more humor. A definite classic.

Summary: Awesome movie
Review: Ok...what the director did was take an already-existing and already-done premis and took it farther in its idea, and quite well. Some other reviewer on here said "When I saw this movie in the 80's, I loved it!"...what?? This movie came out in 1993, so they obviously didn't know what they were talking about. But yes, Bill Murray is a funny man, but it just seems he keeps taking these screwball, b movie scripts, so he never has a chance to show off his real talent. This movie just exemplifies his talent and comedy...and his character transitions through the movie very well...I give it my seal of approval.

Summary: You can't go wrong with this one.
Review: I have to admit I do not own this particular DVD. Why? I have no idea. I should, because I stop and watch it whenever it's on TV. Then again, maybe that's why I don't own it. Well, whatever the reason, I can assure you of this, it is not because this is a bad movie. When this movie first came out I saw it twice. It has so many elements that are so perfectly suited for Murray and his comedic style. Since it's release it has been copied many, many times, but it has never been duplicated. What would you so if you had to relive the same day over and over. Would you use your knowledge to take advantage of the situation? Would you eventually go crazy? Or would you use the time to better yourself? Well, pick up this movie and see what Bill Murray did with it. You won't be sorry.

Summary: All in a day
Review: This has got to be one of the funniest movies ever! Bill Murray at his best. Witty and sarcastic remarks fly as MacDowell gradually converts mean-spirited Murray to look on the bright side of life. I've seen it several times and it's still hillarious!

Summary: Mini-Course in Buddhism!
Review: I loved this movie which was, in my opinion, a mini-course in Buddhism. For "day" read "lifetimes" as Phil is reincarnated again and again until he has learned his lessons and, through the giving and receiving of healing love, is freed from further incarnations. Great acting, great screenplay, great fun!
