Rating: Summary: One of Steve Martin's best Review: This is one of Martin's best and one of the greatest comedies ever made. The writing and acting are perfect. Especially Sarah Jessica Parker as SanDeE, she is a classic character. Martin is very good too. The signboard is the best I think though. If you like steve martin or just comedies this movie is for you. I love this movie and always will.
Rating: Summary: This and "Moonstruck" tie for my Number One spot :P Review: For those of you who are wondering, the Soundtrack is mostly Enya from "Watermark" and "The Celts".. and terribly romantic! Steve Martin just shows off his genius (in real life, does he have a PhD in Literature?) referring to "Hamlet", and creating intriguing poetry ("Oh, pointy bird/oh pointy, pointy/ Let me annoint thee/ nointy, nointy." BWHAH-HAH-AHHA!!). There is almost nothing wrong with this movie as far as I can see... and who didn't get chills when the masonry lions bowed to the two kids in the garden? Beautiful movie!!!
Rating: Summary: A magical, romantic LA love story; humorous LA "culture" Review: I just have to watch this again and again. The plot is pure magic, lighter than air, and so much fun! I get to feel like I'm in California without ever leaving home. There's some great comedy here and so much I can't even begin to decide what I like best. The music is awesome, there'some great cameos, and the story line is inspiring. It's a fun spin through LA in the 90's. Any one for a "half-double decaffinated half-caff"?
Rating: Summary: A very lighthearted look at life in Southern California Review: Our favorite movie! We saw it before moving to Southern California... since, we have concluded that it should be required viewing for all newcomers to this region. Seems that everyday we see something here that is depicted in the movie.
Rating: Summary: Steve and Sarah and the electronic freeway sign Review: Steve Martin shares the spotlight with show-stealers Sarah Jessica Parker and the most interactive electronic freeway sign I've ever seen in L.A. STORY. People who live in Los Angeles or at least know a lot about the city probably got more jokes than I did, but L.A. STORY was worth seeing.
Rating: Summary: The Classic Steve Martin Comedy Review: Steve Martin demonstartes his true strenghts both as an actor and a writer in this hilariously accurate portrayal of life in L.A. in the nineties. With an outstanding supporting cast, Martin makes life in hectic, smoggy Los Angeles seem fun and whimsical, while at the same time painting an true-to life portrait of the Angeleno urban experience. This is definitely a movie to watch over and over again, as viewers definitely won't catch all of the laughs and subtlties the first time around.
Rating: Summary: Loved this video and the music even more Review: I agree with the one reviewer who asked "Why hasn't there been a sound track for this movie?" Would love to be able to find the music. Any ideas?
Rating: Summary: Steve MARTIN at his wackiest best Review: A funny poignant movie with delicious music [[why is there no commercial sound track? It took me two years to locate all the music to make my own!] I watch this movie every two or three months...and always find something new to laugh at. I listen to the tape I made everyday.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious. Perhaps the most quotable movie of the 90's. Review: Steve Martin at his best. LA Story is the perfect blend of an endearing love story and an on-the-floor-laughng comedy. New discoveries each and every time you watch it keep the movie fresh, while the outstanding cinematography and off-beat story line make the movie an instant classic.
Rating: Summary: It pokes fun at everything about L.A., yet is less than 2 hr Review: L.A. Story is funny, stylish and romantic. I've seen it a few times now and I still laugh out loud. It's a wonderful parody of life in L.A., including driving (not walking) in L.A., banking in L.A., L.A. men, L.A. women and L.A. weather etc. If not for any other reason, see the movie rather than the city.
