Summary: so very very very very very very bad
Review: I had the unfortunate chance to see this movie and it was so horrible this is a movie that has little or no story and is so pitful that not only couldn't I finish it but I had to write a review for it. First of all it is pop garbage in which everything always endes up happy and has nothing to do with reality in any way. Besides this (because a movie can be good w/ these qualities if it is funny) is not a romantic comedy it is a romantic that's it it's not a drama it's nothing. Last itis w. richard here who left the thriller scene to do these horrible movies. Face it u got lucky w/ pretty woman that's all you'll ever get. Don't c this movie.

Summary: What a waste
Review: The cast line-up looked extremely promising, but this movie was a real waste of their abilities. I'm glad that I used a free rental coupon to see this instead of paying to see it...

Summary: A movie so bad it hurt my feelings
Review: This movie surpassed an eleven year old record for personal worst movie previously held by Bill Cosby's "Ghost Dad". Never more have I longed to be the recipient of an assasin's bullet than while sitting through this painful attempt at a motion picture. I would challenge anyone on the face of this planet to come up with one redeeming quality for this piece of cinematic trash.

Physicists may argue the validity of this next claim, but I swear this movie actually contained negative comedy. i.e. attempts at comedy so bad that they actually cancel out memories of good comedy that you've seen over the years.

Sure, you look at the empty box at Blockbuster and you see Richard Gere, Helen Hunt, Tara Reid, and a bunch of other namebrand actors....you think to yourself "Well, even if it is a chick flick, how bad could it possibly be with all that acting talent?" Bad enough to make you want to volunteer for a research study in euthanasia. Bad enough to make want to go swimming with a hairdryer. Bad enough to make you want to eat raw chicken past the expiration date.

It was like a swift kick to the soul and a full nelson to the mind.

Summary: Is there a way to give a -5 stars, it was a huge waste
Review: I beg of you, not to waste your dollars or time. I sat watching until the end thinking it is going to get better, it has to get better. But it went from bad to worse and then truly rotten. I love to watch all the actors in the movie, but first they need a good screenplay to follow. This was not it.

Summary: Another fine Altman movie
Review: I just read some of these one-star comments and realized that over all these years nothing has changed. There's a whole new generation complaining about this director's movies. They clearly have not seen (or understood) other movies of the Maestro. If they did they knew these movies are not about plot. They are more about human behaviour and therefore a bit strange to those who only watch a movie when there is popcorn around. Read these one-star reviews below, they are quite funny actually. They can tell you a lot about how public and critics have been misunderstanding Altman over the years!

Summary: Disappointing and offensive
Review: It would be fair to assume that a movie titled Dr. T & the Women would be one of three types: a cheap B movie about a washed up doctor and a bunch of showgirls, a tacky porn movie, or a lighthearted look at a man who loves and respects the many women in his life. I expected the third and was sadly mistaken.

Early in the movie, Dr. Travis describes women as angels who should be worshipped. His problems with the women in his life are supposed to result from his doing just that. His wife suffers from being loved too much, one daughter is spoiled because he gives her everything she needs, his office manager has a crush on him because he's a great boss, his patients love him because he tells them all they're beautiful... it goes on and on.

Those are the fictional problems of the character in this movie. Here are my problems . First, there is not a postive female role in the entire picture, with the possible exception of Liv Tyler's character. His wife is loony, his sister in law is a drunk, one daughter's a spoiled brat, the other's a tattletale obsessed with violence, the office manager tries to seduce him, the old bat in the waiting room regularly assaults the young, beautiful, rich, insecure woman who has bi-weekly appointments at the gynecologist because everyone there tells her how beautiful and perfect she is, and the golf pro, supposedly a strong, self-confident woman, is fooling around with a guy who she knows is married. Even Liv Tyler's character, a friend of his daughter in town for the daughter's wedding, is dubious. I mean, if you had to squeeze in a visit to the gynecologist while you were in town, would you really want your best friend's father at the other end of the stirrups?

Second, if Dr. T loves women so much, why does he treat them so poorly? He ignores his family, doesn't visit his wife in the mental hospital for six weeks, doesn't get a second opinion when her doctor diagnoses her with some ridiculous condition and recommends he not see her, cheats on his (beloved) wife during that six week period, constantly leaves women in his waiting room for hours on end and, although it doesn't actually say this in the movie, probably doesn't pay his office staff enough to put up with the garbage that they handle for him while he runs out to golf and shoot skeet.

Finally, the filmmaker seems to have taken Richard Gere playing a gynecologist as an opportunity to frame his face as often as possible with women's thighs. Do we really need to see him do a breast exam? Is this an integral part of the story? Was the birth scene, shot from the doctor's point of view, necessary? Oh don't worry - this movie couldn't care less about the women in it, so the birth only lasted 15 seconds and was as clean as Martha Stewart's kitchen. It was just an excuse to place Richard Gere between one more pair of female thighs.

Summary: This is easily one of the worst movies ever made
Review: HORRIBLE. My wife was anxious to see this movie when it was in the theatre, but I steered us away from it at the time. When we went to the video store this weekend, I figured I owed it to her for us to get this movie. We both hated it. We only got about halfway through. As you can see from the other reviews we were not alone in this opinion and I agree wholeheartedly that there wasn't any plot. Reading the other reviews however makes me glad that we didn't sit through it any longer. I can add this much more to the commmentary about how nauseating this movie was. Dr. T (Richard Gere)'s wife (Farrah Fawcett) goes thru a complete mental breakdown and is committed. The reason for her breakdown is the fact that Dr. T loves her too much. However, once she is in the ward, Dr. T quickly begins an affair with Helen Hunt. This movie however still portrays him as the good guy in all this. This made me want to vomit. Strong words, but I couldn't be more serious. Do not waste your time with this one. If your loved one wants to watch this movie, let her know that doing your taxes is more fun than that.

Summary: I've seen worse - but not often
Review: I expected this to be a "chick flick", but my wife and daughters agreed with me that Dr. T and the Women wasn't worth the cost of the rental. The story just drags on and on and the ending could only be described as a bizarre idea from the twisted mind of someone overly influenced by the beginning of the Wizard of Oz.

As bad as the movie was, the "making of" feature on the DVD is even worse. It appears that the director and actors are genuinely proud of this movie - or maybe they saved all their acting talent for the "making of" feature. They can't be serious and it's sad to see them gushing over how wonderful they think this poor excuse of a movie is. Remind me to skip anything else Robert Altman directs... I'll forgive Richard Gere and Helen Hunt for this one.

Summary: Worst movie I've ever seen!
Review: I can honestly say that I have never seen a worse movie! I just rented this movie for my fiance and my roommate. We wanted to have a nice relaxing evening with a fair movie. That's really not too much to expect. My roommate got up and left an hour into it after struggling to stay that long. I begged my fiance to continue watching it with me because I just knew that it had to get better. Well, I was wrong. I'm surpised she's not leaving me for somebody who has their head out of their... You see where I'm going here.

I beg you. Do not buy or rent this movie. If you do, please come back and write your own honest review. Heck, if you want to copy mine, feel free!

Great actor and actresses! Worthless storyline and plot! This movie is a general insult to anyone living. It starts off boring and goes VERY quickly downhill from there.

Summary: Discusting
Review: This has got to be the all time worst films ever produced. So bad in fact, I will take time to write a review so no one else wastes good money on such a lame storyline. The movie starts out in Dr T's office filled with yappydy yap women. I swear, its like listening to someone scratch their fingernails on the blackboard. I figured it had to get better. Well surprise surpise (come to think of it, Gomer Pyle would have done a better job of acting in this than RG). Well, it didn't get better. In fact much worse. The screeming women scene stopped. Thank God. But it was replaced with some pretty poorly devised scenes of Dr T and his buddy's. Of course there was the frequent reprise of the office scenes with all these women waiting for the good doc to peek up their shorts. Overall, the lines were so bad I think they must have drawn them from a first grade writing contest. Now I like HH and RG normally which is why I bought the film. But they both really rot in this film. The film was wearing on me but I forced myself to watch this piece of garbage all the way to the end. Why punish myself, right? I figured if I watch this all the way through then I would never ever be tempted to watch this again. Well I have to say I am glad I did because this discusting movie actually had it's worst scenes saved for the very end. And if I never stayed to the end, I would never know how such a horrible film could out-do itself with one of the most disjointed and uncalled for endings. It made no sense. I am sure that the "T" in Dr T stands for "Terrible". Positive of it. If anyone is intersetd in the last scene scenario, read below. I will skip a few lines here so that anyone who doesn't believe me and decides to watch this thing will have this last scene to look forward to. All you that like punishment too may want to se this thing so don't go any further.............

RG is driving along in a rainstorm. He and his ragtop with no top (in the poring rain) gets lifted off the ground by a tornado and ends up in the mexican desert. No kidding really. Well there is more. This scene is quickly followed by a scene where he helps some desert women deliver her baby. Now here we go through the entire movie with this childbirth stuff kept out of camera view. But this last scene is something taken right out of public television. Full birth scene from start to finish. I almost puked my guts out.
