Summary: So you already love this movie?
Review: Then do not hesitate to buy this Miramax Collector's edition. I have watched this DVD multiple times - with each of the two commentary tracks as well as the original documentary "Making it in Hollywood". I cannot overstate the effect of hearing all of the behind-the-scene details of making this picture. The dedication of everyone involved is reflected in these stories told. There was the constant looming constraint of limited time and small budget as well as the usual problems that arise in the day-to-day shooting, and yet every crisis encountered seemed to lead them on a trajectory to the end result which is this simple, funny story about friends and real life - made by friends in real life. You come away feeling that it was nothing short of a miracle, which makes you love these characters and this story even more. A Classic.

Summary: hey! help me with my collector's edition!
Review: i bought the collector's edition as soon as it came out. well, i pre-ordered it from here. the movie is great, the new transfer is better, the telecaster commentary is cool, and swing blade's funny, but here's my dilemna. it says on the box that there is an intro by the director, an alternate golfing scene, and an outtakes reel. i have none of these on my dvd. instead i have a walking to the club scene, pink dot scene, and another one i just can't remember right now. i still have drunken diners and the kiss, but i dont think they have commentary. are they easter eggs? somebody help me.

Summary: Great movie, great DVD with a minor problem
Review: One of my favorite movies is finally on a respectable DVD. Swingers is one of the best movies for the young adult male and is just so real about the struggles of dating, as well as the joy of friendship. Some interesting commentaries, including one with Favreau and Vaughn with a telecaster, and some good featurettes and deleted scenes. The one problem (and I hope I'm not the only one) is with the chapter selection menu. The icons that indicate where you are on the menu don't seem to work on everything, so you'll have to do a little guesswork to figure out how to skip right to the chapter you want from that menu. But otherwise a great purchase and also a good value at its current price point.

Summary: SO MONEY!!
Review: Quite simply - my second favorite movie of all-time. This movie is brilliantly written and has made me a Vince Vaughn fan for life.

Guys will relate to every seen - from trying to pick-up women in bars to classic sceens of the guys playing EA Sports hockey. For example:

Trent: There's nothing wrong with letting a woman know that you're money and that you're looking to party.

Sue (a guy):I won the Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings. Trent: Yeah but that was against the computer with the offsides turned off!"

The first time I saw this movie I almost took it out of the VCR half-way through. It's brilliance all comes together at the end and watching it over and over will make you appreciate it's greatness and may actually change the way you speak.

Summary: You mean you haven't SEEN Swingers?!!
Review: Have you ever been afraid to talk to a member of the opposite sex? Have you ever been nervous about your career or future? Have you ever just wanted a drink to wash it all away? Then check out this film, which centers around two best buds: Vince Vaughn's Trent, the smooth-talking L.A. ladies' man and Jon Favreau's Mike, the broken-hearted nice-guy.

Mike, six months out of a serious long-term relationship and not making any progress in the recovery process, is a struggling comedian/actor in Los Angeles and he's hating it. The savior of his sanity is Trent, who likes to think of himself as a big brother type mentor to the girl-shy Mike. They and their friends eek out an existence in day jobs, trying to score acting gigs. At night, they hit the swingin' 1990's L.A. lounge scene--with a stint in VEGAS, BABY, VEGAS! as well.

Trent's glassy smooth player schtick will make women giggle with delight and make the guys high five while Mike's romantic misadventure will make everyone cringe as he sulks over his loss, wallows in self-pity, and gets shot down when he does try to move on. If you want to laugh, if you want to care about a movie character, and if you want to be inspired by HOW MONEY YOU ARE, then GET THIS MOVIE!

Summary: You¿re So Money And You Don¿t Even Know It
Review: What can be said about this movie that hasn't been said? This is easily one of my favorite movies, it has comedy and drama, but it's done with a very realistic style. The dialogue is heavily influenced by movies since these characters are all trying to be actors in L.A., and this film really makes the viewer want to live this kind of life. It's understood that this is a guy's movie since it features a bunch of guys going to casinos, chatting in diners, playing cards and video games, etc. The way this movie looks at dating is very much a guy's perspective, but in my opinion, it is a welcome change. With all the "chick flicks" out there these days that use nothing but a woman's perspective when it comes to dating, Swingers is sort of a rarity. Needless to say, this movie also launched the career of a lot of actors..... mainly Vince Vaughn. Swingers is highly recommended... easily one of the best independent movies of all time.

Summary: The 'Waiting to Exhale' for Men!
Review: Swingers, the movie written by Jon Favreau and made for $250,000, is one of the "coolest" movies of all time. An underground sensation upon its release in 1995, Swingers has launched a career for not only Favreau, but his good buddy Vince Vaughn as well (who landed his part in Jurassic Park: The Lost World after Speilberg saw "Swingers").

The movie is so much fun. Following the lives of wanna-be actors living in crummy LA apartments (that cost much more than I could afford, however) and basically living their life from callback to callback and partying night to night. Favreau catches many forms of male bonding-ness, from the late night pre-party video games, to the spur of the moment Vegas trips, all of it. Guys who watch this movie want to be the guys on the screen. This is my favorite movie and I think if you watch it, it could be your favorite, too.

Summary: Meaningless, and annoying
Review: Hmm...I don't get what was so great about this movie. I saw this once because my friend was begging me to see it. So, I went and rented it. You can go rent any "guy" movie and get more substance than this movie. I got really sick of hearing "You're so money" (okay, funny the first time, that's it). It's basically good cop-bad cop at a nightclub, Vince Vaughn being the "bad cop" trying to get his buddy over a bad relationship by giving him the "rules" of women and the night scene. There is nothing refreshing or unique about this movie; this premise has been covered before. Just a stereotypical depiction of single guys. I know that some who rated this movie think that all guys act this way, but I think that is kind of a misrepresentation. If you want to go see a better movie, go rent Animal House.
