Review: Really enjoyable comedy. Brendon Fraser was very amusing in his multiple roles and Liz Hurley made a good seductress, she's very attractive, not a great actress though. Good message in this film as well, the devil will promise you the world but deliver nothing but misery in your life. One of the devils main weapons is sex these days as well so appropriatly he was portrayed as an object of lust.

Nothing too offensive in this one either. Lot's of laughs to be had.

Review: I really like this movie. I also like the special features. This movie is real cheap to buy so I suggest you buy this. This is a great remake of the 1967 movie. Its like the same thing but the devil is a dude,not a women. This really great and so is this dvd. Theres just something about this movie that is cool. I dont know but you know, its cool. This movie is really funny. If you havent seen this movie you definatley have to see this movie. Elizabeth Hurley is real hot, shes kind of freaky sometimes but you know she is real hot. She was hot in Austin Powers and now this. Brendan Frasier is good in this movie too. He's also good in Monkeybone...you need to watch that too. I know it looks stupid, but seriously its funny. If its not, I dont know but ya..

Summary: Disappointing for Brendan Fraser fans
Review: OK, so maybe I don't like to see a cute guy playing a geek. And a really, really geeky er, geek! But Brendan Fraser just didn't do anything for me in this movie. So I think I'll stick to The Mummy etc.

This film isn't funny. If you like really cringe-worthy humour, then yeah, you'll be laughing so much, you'll be crying. But it just wasn't funny.

Elizabeth (or Liz, as she'll always be known) Hurley was great in this film. That is, until she opened her mouth, and that English accent was like nails going down a blackboard. Bet the Americans went nuts for the accent though, but I just couldn't look at her and hear the voice.

The finale is a tiny bit strange, and you have to look at the cast listing to understand what the hell is going on. But its understandable - eventually.

A good film. Just not funny.

Summary: Meh.
Review: In a modern update of the 1960s film of the same name (starring Dudley Moore and Peter Cook), Brendan Frasier plays a dork (Elliot Richards) who wishes he were more popular at work and loved by the woman of his dreams. Enter the Devil herself (played by Elizabeth Hurley) who hears Elliot's cries for help and decides to answer them. There's one catch: in exchange for seven wishes that she grants him, he must give her his soul. Dumb as a rock, Elliott consents, only to find that his dream come true becomes a nightmare, as he blunders his way through his wishes in one disastrous outcome after another. There are some genuinely funny moments here, but after awhile the film just runs out of steam to the point where the outcome is anti-climactic. Besides, we've seen this "be careful what you wish for theme" done before-- and so much better. Faults aside, it's still cute, harmless fun and perfect for a boring Saturday afternoon when you just want to pass the time. Strictly for fans of Brendan Frasier or those love-stricken fellas who want to ogle Elizabeth Hurley in all her supermodel glory.

Summary: NO SNAKE SCENE
Review: This was a pretty funny movie, Branden Fraser does his multi-part role with plenty of laughs, and Elizabeth Hurley plays the she devil part well, and she looks great as always...my main gripe about this movie is the misrepresentation given on the box, especially to those who might buy or rent the movie with the presumption that you are gonna see sexy Elizabeth Hurley in a red bikini w/ a snake. A snipet of the scene is even shown in the movies trailer, but it was deleted from the movie. Hurley herself mentions the scene in an interview, and they told her what snake scene?, it's not in the movie. Why it is'nt in the movie, but on the box and was in the commercial for the movie is absurd....still a good movie, just be aware you ain't gonna get that snake scene.

Summary: The great message hidden in this movie
Review: I love how this movie has a good underlying message but it is not pushy. Whith the black guy as an angel and his little conversation with Elliot. The only thing I didn't like was the fact the angel was smoking and swore, but it brought him more down to earth. Bredon Fraser is perfect for the part with his boyish good looks and ability to be dashingly good looking or a bashful underdog.

Summary: Seven Wishes? Right now I know my 1st.
Review: Elliot, the walking cliche otherwise known as annoying, finds himself wanting everything and understandably having nothing. Friends loathe interaction with him, women find him lacking, and life seems to frown on him whenever it decides to shine elsewhere, opting to instead rain on that poor tech's parade. Luckily for him, the stunningly clad devil decides that his soul has some worth and that he, for some reason, won't go to hell without her help. So, he is given seven wishes for that miserable burden he carries around somewhere inside of him, and then the nightmare proceeds.

While I'd like to commit an armada of words to sinking this ship and making myself feel a little better after seeing what I saw, I find that I can't bear to entertain those thoughts. For some reason, the notion of wasting even more time with this movie, building a basis around it to explain all of its faults, seems like a nightmare. So, I'll instead pick at the scabs left from remembering just a little, showcasing my main problems within the image that it gave the viewer. Hopefully, that will caution you.

First, Elliot has a little problem and, through experience, he somehow changes over the movie's vast 90 minutes, and that's supposedly buyable. He becomes confident in some rights, not as annoying toward the end of the movie, and that would have been something acceptable but, for some reason, the end of the movie reverts him yet again. It makes him the same him from the beginning, not allowing a mold to be struck. And that would have been great and all, but, in some scenes - you see the problem.
Secondly, the devil is way too soft and gets played in the end. We all know its going to happen, that the end in a movie like this is going to be loathesomely happy, but the way that comes about is supposed to be interesting. In this movie, however, it doesn't find that place and instead relies on faults within the evil in evil - of all things, allowing Elliot pity in some rights. A little Catch 22 here, the escape for the soul there, and boom - its over. Yeah, whatever.
Third, the wish sequences weren't all that funny. They were touted as being great, keeping one "in stitches," but sitting there was more like bondage to me. I kept wondering how stupid someone could be, not learning by the second try that Evil might somehow play tricks with the wording, but apparently that doesn't dawn on the wisher. No, with your soul on the line, its trust for the devil that you decide to court. Nevermind the fact that he didn't trust the devil in the beginning. Lay a chip on the table and trust the house when it comes down to playing for stakes. Yeah.
And, lastly, there was the ending's true ending. While I can understand many things that happen, the happiness in that garbage, giving him something he truly wanted, is sickening. While I can't say anything on it, really, I can say that I hoped for the process of breaking, of maiming something, and I seem to have gotten it. Unfortunately, the suffering was done by me and Elliot walked away unscathed.

If you like movies of this sort, knowing the end at the beginning and think that situations like the ones described are funny, then play here. Be warned, however, that it might have an aftereffect and that you might be driven, in your madness, to try and sell your soul to make it all go away. Still, when dealing with devils like this one, there are worse things than losing your soul. Yes, try the retention of a memory.

Summary: The Devil Speaks
Review: I have watched this comedy numerous times, and have always felt that the Devil was speaking to me instead! In reality, however, the Devil doesn't look the least like sexy Elizabeth Hurley and possesses masculine traits intead of female ones.

This comedy explores the wiles of the Devil (played by Elizabeth Hurley) who tempts a lonely man (Branden Fraser) with 7 wishes. As Fraser wasn't legalistic enough with his wishes, the Devil gave him a hell of a ride with a play on the wording of his wishes, finally exhausting him in frustration. Supreme Good and Fraser's inner virtues triumph in the end with all things ended happily when Fraser got to find the love of his life in the least expected places.

Is it worth selling one's soul for love? I personally would say "YES" as Fraser did at the start of the movie, but as the saying goes "Be careful what you wish for, it just might come true!".

Those who enjoy watching "Bedazzled" would also enjoy "The Devil's Advocate" which I highly recommend.

Review: I loved this movie. I had never heard of it and bought it in DVD because it was cheap and starred Brendan Fraser. I was going to watch it bit by bit as I excercised on the treadmill (I only do 30 minute segments, I'm just starting). I about killed myself. I couldn't stop walking and watching. It was really funny. Brendan Fraser is soooo talented. He was a hoot playing all those characters as was the rest of the cast who played many parts in his "fanasty". Very little bad language, no nudity or steamy sex scenes, no bathroom humor, some sexual inuendos - OK, I understand now why it wasn't a huge hit. It's a family movie and really, really funny.
