Summary: Be careful what you wish for...
Review: This is not the original, so get over it. It is however a fast paced, mostly cleaver little film that is always amusing and often laugh-out-loud funny. Elliot's (Fraser) not well thought out wishes give the devil (Hurley) plenty of room to maneuver, which she does with hilarious results. All of the main characters are entertaining and well acted but once again Brendan Fraser shows what a really great comedic actor he is. Unfortunately the ending feels a little rushed and I suspect it was reshot after a negative screening or two, and at least one of the wishes (the rock star) hit the floor, but even so this is a fun movie and worth the ticket price. In a world of movie screens oozing blood and guts with body counts and expletives too numerous to mention, Bedazzled is like a breath of fresh air.

Summary: Entertaining Piffle
Review: Given the track record of the big names on this film (Ramis, Fraser, Hurley), plus the fact that it was based on a film originally starring Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, I expected better.It's hard to sympathize with Fraser's character. He often plays the loveable doofus well, but in this case the character isn't constructed to be as sympathetic as just plain pathetic. I will say that Liz Hurley was very delicious as the Devil... sexy, naughty... the kind of woman you know is going to hurt you but makes you wonder if it might not just be worth it. It's also nice to note that Liz is 35... not 25. Overall, for a matinee ticket price, I didn't feel gypped. I found it entertaining, but it was not laugh-out-loud funny. It may not be the best value for your money given the current crop, but it's a definite rental possibility for the Spring.

Review: I just saw this movie about 30 mins. ago. So let me gather my thoughts...The devil in a thong...A near 8 foot tall basket ball star with a small "wee-wee"...Satan having her own night club...amoung others. What a plot, huh? No really, this remake of a classic does fairly well. I have not seen it but I here they match well. This is a movie about a guy named Eliott, who for all of his life has not been a popular person. He tries to hard to be a nice guy, a little to hard. His "friends" disrespect him because he gets annoying. It is a pretty funny movie, DULL in the beginning but picks it up later on. Brendan Fraser shines in this movie. He pretty much plays 7 different characters. 6 of them are done by the always lovely Liz Hurley. Elliot sells his soul to the Devil for 7 wishes, for the girl of his dreams. {Do not read if you do not want spoiled}---His first wish is to be POWERFUL and RICH, so she makes him a DRUG LORD, his other wishes include being AHTLETIC, and EXTREMLY SENCITIVE amoung others. Like before, it is pretty boring for the first quarter. Eliott is supposed to be this nice guy who you are to like, but he is played off as being just dreadful. I personaly did not understand why the actress, Ashely or whomever was choosen, she does not compare to Ms. Hurley. Ashely was so annoying. Her characters were pitiful. I think they could have had a better actress to play her. One thing I liked was the three guys that were in all of the parts. Orlando Jones and Toby Huss with the other guy were just to funny. Orlando Jones of MadTV and Replacement fame and Toby Huss who played Artie: The Strongest Man, In The World!. {Side note, yes quailty tv, only in my house LoL}. That is all I can really say right now exept do not give up hope for the first half. The ending is pretty good, it will let you have a good nights sleep. The chess thing was a good idea, to me at least. Bye Ryan

Summary: an enjoyable little film
Review: who wouldn't want to see what life would be like as someone rich, famous, popular, etc? be careful what you wish for . . . this remake of the dudley moore/peter cooke provides an hour and a half of giggles, chuckles and out and out laughs. harold ramis has once again proven he is at the top of his game with this film. brendan fraser, always underrated, finally has a chance to show his range as an actor. frances o'connor, brilliant in mansfield park, breaks into the mainstream market with a big splash. you're probably familiar with the plot, and don't be afraid that the movie has been spoiled for you after reading countless reviews and seeing the trailers. there are plenty of little surprises in this film (watch for the nod to moore and cook). go see it on the big screen, don't wait for the video!

Summary: Some funny parts, but overall not that great
Review: This is one of those movies where you got to see all the main funny parts in the trailers. Sure there are some other laughs, but overall the movie isn't that great. Between all the comedy is just stupid, lame, annoying filler. They are trying to be funny in these scenes, but it just doesn't work. I was expecting more on the lines of A Blast from the Past, but this really is as well done. Loved the black Diablo though! Anyways, I would suggest to wait for this one to come out on video and dvd, and just rent it, either that or see it on a cheap Tuesday/Matinee.

Review: First, he directed, "Analyze This", now it's "Bedazzled". I saw a special screening of it a few weeks ago. It's about a man with no life who finds the devil who is a woman. He can make 7 wishes for his soul. It's a funny movie. A definate must-see!

Review: Very few movies have i been to sea in theatres and wanted to walk out on, I ended up staying till the end of this one, but I wish I hadnt... This DVD isnt at a cheap price for any other reason then it beeing a pretty bad movie. Most people who didnt like the movie wouldnt even bother to reveiw it, but I got time to kill... Read someone elses reveiw for the plot, I'm sure it's been explained a thousand times already. The most annoying thing about the film was Liz Hurly. Her constand bobbing around as she walked was irratating, I dunno what she was thinking, but that was one of the worst performance's i've ever seen by anyone. ... I suppose if your one of her loyal fans who would go to see her do anything for a perv on her, you probably will be distracted by somthing else other then your mind to come to the conclusion shes is doing a terrible job of acting.. I hoep they didnt pay her for that role... and probably the fans of Brendan Frasier are giving out good reveiws because theyd give there right arms to watch him on screen... but for me, sex images dont sell a movie at all. Therefor, the thought that having 2 actors both men and women would go to see for some kind of attraction thing going on, just dosent cut if, espeiclly when it's not funny, the acting is terrible, and again, that annoying bobbing up and down as Liz Hurly walks... what is that??? was it supposed to be funny? well, underline "supposed to be" then. Horrible film, only fans of these actors, or people looking at the movie for the wrong reasons will absolutly love this film. Horrible acting

Summary: A good ol' time at the movies.
Review: Elizabeth Hurley was an ideal choice for the role of Satan in "Bedazzled," opposite Brendan Fraser, who is also well cast as a misfit who offers his soul in return for seven wishes. The movie is a remake of an original film, and while it may tend to drag down a bit in its final acts, the result is a comedy tour-de-force which had me laughing and feeling pleased throughout. What more pathetic character could we ask for in Elliott, the computer technician with no life? Elliott has no friends, but that doesn't stop him from conversing with his coworkers whom he thinks are actually listening. When his attention becomes snagged by fellow coworker Allison, her rejection brings him to the attention of a mysterious woman in red who reveals herself to be the Princess of Darkness. Her plan: to offer him seven wishes in return for his soul, and while he remains skeptical, the thought of being with Allison (with the help of Satan's television screens) drives him to accept the offer. This is where the movie gets good, as we follow him on his many adventures accompanying each of his wishes. His first wish, to be rich and have Allison for his wife, lands him as a Spanish cocaine dealer whose wife is cheating on him with her English teacher, followed by his second wish to be emotionally sensitive, which drives Allison into the arms of a shallow man ("I just want someone who wants to get in my pants"). Elliott soon catches on to Satan's tricks, yet still keeps taking his wishes, with hilarious results. First and foremost, the performances from Hurley and Fraser are what make the movie worthwhile. Brendan Fraser looks like he's having so much fun playing his role, segueing from a fast-talking Mexican who speaks multiple languages, to the overtly sensitive red-haired boy who bursts into tears at the glance of the sunset. Hurley gives a smashing performance as a female Satan, her accent adding wit and charisma to a role that is being dealt with in a new way. In watching "Bedazzled," I could see how much fun the two actors were having in playing their roles, which made the movie more enjoyable and the comedy more comfortable. That comedy arises from many different things: first, there's the relationship between the two characters. Satan knows that she's not going to live up to her promises entirely without flaw, which leads to some very funny results as Elliott discovers each wish's put-off. I also found a great many laughs during the opening sequence, which singles people out in the frantic pace of life and labels them with a certain flaw. Add a bit of witty dialogue and a goofy character on his way to his dreams, and what you've got is a reasonably successful film which delivers what it was intended to: laughs. Which is why the ending, for me, doesn't quite live up to the rest of the material. The laughs seem to fizzle out a bit: they're still a couple of chuckle-worthy moments at hand, but not on par with the hysterics of the first two thirds of the movie. I originally intended to dispute the way in which the movie "cops out" by taking the approach it does in the end, but once I thought about it (and you'll understand me when you watch it yourself), there really was no other way for it to end and still retain a certain lightheartedness. On a slightly off-the-subject opinion, I also felt that the film had a good advertising plan going for it. The preview trailers don't give away all the laughs, and the movie takes certain turns that we don't get to see in the ads. All-in-all, "Bedazzled" is a regular comedy made just a touch better by the bright and vivacious performances of its leads. The fun they have in creating their characters' body and verbal language is laugh-out-loud funny, while the situations they find themselves in aren't original, but still have comedic charm.
