Summary: A wonderful, funny movie
Review: Elle Woods is a bubbly, blonde sorority girl in her senior year of college. Elle's main concern is finding the right outfit for her dinner date with Warner Huntington III, her boyfriend, who will probably be proposing to her on this special night. However, instead of a proposal, to Elle's horror, Warner insists that they break up. Warner needs someone "serious" if he wants to be a senator by the time he's thirty. To get Warner back, Elle enrolls in Harvard Law School, where Warner is enrolled, and heads off to law school, despite her friends and family's doubts about her intelligence and her seriousness. However, Elle proves to be far from a "dumb blonde" and shows that she is as good a lawyer as any other law student. In the end, she realizes that Warner never was the one for her. This is a hilarious movie, and it is refreshing to see Elle succeed in the end.

Summary: In The Pink
Review: Another cheer for the fast track method of success, in which self-esteem and formula tactics make up for inborn talent, this fun and refreshing comedy contains all the elements for an entertaining 2 hours. It begins with a light and lively isn't-it-great-to-be-young introduction, complete with plenty of the colorful materialism typical of yuppie films to dazzle the viewer and convince them they can actually buy this fantasy life for themselves. The characters are each interesting, realistic, and unique, and there's a delightful little dog, Breezer, whose name symbolizes much. Miss Witherspoon as Elle Woods is absolutely charming; personality plus and a warm heart. However, the story's attempt to mock male chauvinism with a reverse stereotype approach--you can be blonde, frivolous AND highly successful in the professions--fails because it quickly embraces the impossible super woman ideal, where you must be thin, beautiful, rich, young, and vivacious--to really get anywhere in the world (so why try otherwise, girls?). Perhaps proof of the pudding are Miss Wood's scathing public putdowns of her powerful opponents that, while an admirable stand for higher values, would burn your bridges before you start.

Summary: Fun, But Strictly For Girly-Girls
Review: The title tells it how it is. I, myself, not being the 'Oh my God I broke a nail!' kind of girl, found it good to a certain extent. I think that Legally Blonde 2 is better, but don't get me wrong, I would definitely recommend this movie!!

Summary: Barbie Girl
Review: The movie to prove to anyone that blondes, too can be intellegent humans. Here comes Elle Woods decked out in an all pink outfit with her long glorious blonde hair, president of her uber cool soriority. She has it all; a 4.0 GPA, a handsome droolworthy boyfriend, and the best friends any girl could have. One night, she swarms around her soriority estatic, for tonight is the night her boyfriend Warner will propose. She fantasizes over his proposal, accepting the ring, and dreaming of how the ring will look.

She arrives at dinner with Warner, and things don't go as expected. Warner tells her he needs to find a "more intellegent" women to meet up with his parents standards. Elle starts panicking in the resteraunt and her mascara drips from her blue eyes as she's faced with the worse nightmare ever!

Despite Elle's straight A's and major in Polka Dots, she applies to Harvard, passing a standarized test, and sending in a lengthy video. She moves to a new area, befriends a manicurist, and tries to find Warner.

Shockingly, Warner has found a chick of his own; someone totally opposite of Elle. Watch the rest of the movie to laugh over Elle and her very brilliant mind at court cases and in classrooms.

A truly "Barbie" girl movie.

Summary: LEGALLY blonde" 21st april 2004.
Review: Some of these types of comedies, you don't know what to expect. Some of them are completely boring, some of them are okay i guess, and some of them are brill. Especcially this, never really asked for it i just saw this set of 3 videos and the other 2 were what i wanted anyway. I watched it from begginning to end and still, i could watch it again and again. And in some parts of the film, it is quite funny too. The best bit is where she gets dressed up to go out to dinner with her boyfriend and she thinks he is going to propose to her but actually he is dumping her and that part of it is funniest. Haven't yet seen legally blonde2, but i am so dying to see it the first was BRILL!!!!!!!!

Review: Lisa Kushell was amazing as the saleswoman. I wish she had more parts in the film. Her character was way to smart for reeses character. She should bought the dress at the regular price.

Summary: LEGALLY BLONDE
Review: Lisa Kushell, as the boutique saleswoman was the best part of the movie. That dress she was wearing was amazing. I cant believe Reese Witherspoons character outsmarted her the way she did. Why was she not in the following movie/

Summary: Unbearably bad.
Review: Not to mention brazenly manipulative. Reese Witherspoon is game, and there are several other fine actors that do their best, but the movie manages to be profoundly unfunny, manipulative, and two-faced about its message (the rather trite self-empowerment theme being ultimately at the service of pushing the great goal of traditional marriage-the movie couldn't end without it). An utterly catastrophic attempt to capture the charm and intelligence of Clueless.

Summary: Legal Briefs
Review: Legally Blomde would have been just your average "fish out of water" mass appeal comedy, were it not for the spirited performance of Reese Witherspoon. This is a story that's been done many times in different forms over time, but it's all in the execution, and thankfully it works here.

Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) has everything a female college student could want. She was elected the president of her sorority, made a Hawaiian Tropic girl, and appeared as Miss June in her college calendar. She dates the cutest fraternity boy on campus, Warner Huntington III (Matthew Davis), and she wants nothing more than to be his adoring wife. If that were to become a reality for Elle, she would never have to worry about her social status, ever again. There's just one little wrinkle in that plan, Warner can't pop the question, because Elle is too blonde. Growing up in LA means very little to Warner's East Coast family. So when Warner packs up for Harvard Law School and reunites with an old sweetheart from prep school, Elle does whatever she has to, in order to win him over. Soon, she finds herself enrolling at Harvard. But, once there, she discovers that law school is harder than she thought--especially when she meets Emmett (Luke Wilson).

Director Robert Luketic may have been handed a predictible script, but he doesn't let that stop Witherspoon, from struttin' her stuff. She owns the role. With plenty of wit, style, and charm, she lights up the screen. Davis plays a typical snoot, while Wilson is great as "Ricky" to Witherspoon's "Lucy" American Pie's own Martha Coolidge is here as well as Elle's "sage".

The special edition DVD has two audio commentary tracks. The first features Luketic, producer Mark Platt and Witherspoon, while the second track assembles separate comments from various crew members edited together. I would have to say, while both tracks have a few problems, they are still entertaining and informative. There's also 2 making of featurettes: The 20 minute "Inside Legally Blonde" has everyone you'd expect, saying all the right things. Far more fun is the 8 minute tongue in cheek "The Hair That Ate Hollywood", looking at the work of stylist Joy Zapata, after all, good hair is important in a film like this. The trivia subtitle track can get a bit redundant at times--you've been warned. You can also watch 8 deleted scenes with video introductions from Luketic. Most of these were wisely cut, but still fun to see, nonetheless. Rounding out the extras on this double sided disc, is a music video of the group Hoku performing the song "Perfect Day", from the soundtrack (ho-hum) and the theatrical trailer. Viewers can watch the film in either the full-screen or widescreen formats.

Legally Blonde is a breezy comedy that steers clear of problems, thanks to its standout star and some solid support.
