Review: I love Jennifer Lopez's music, and with "The Wedding Planner" she just proved how really multi-talented she is. I thought this movie about knowing your destiny, and finding your one true love was so romantic. Jennifer Lopez proves that she certainly can do it all.

Summary: Great... here we go again
Review: You've seen one, you've seen them all. The Wedding Planner painstakingly follows pursuit of every other run-of-the-mill romance movie ever made. It's predictable to the very bottom. In fact, I knew how it was going to end so clearly, I would have done anything to see that changed. The movie was also long. If it had ended a half hour earlier, not only would it end on a better note anyway, but also cut down on the waste of time I was feeling. There were times when I laughed, but it couldn't make up for the rest of the (...) I was being dished. The plot continually runs dry and the script is wonderously slow at times. Lopez's acting is not even the greatest of par, even if she is cute. Bottom line: There's no real reason to see this because it's just a re-make of all those other silly movies out there. It does present some clever irony, but not much is left to get excited about. Bleh.

Summary: It's no "Sabrina" or "While You Were Sleeping" movie....
Review: I rented this film because the T.V. previews didn't catch me enough to want to chance [money] at the local movie theater and what a wise choice it was. Before 1994's "While You Were Sleeping" and the 1995 remake of "Sabrina", I would have never admitted to enjoying a lighthearted romance/comedy but those two movies were classic in acting, circumstances, plots, climax, etc. I somewhat expected "The Wedding Planner" to be the same. However, you have a guy who cheats on his fiance, a wedding planner who stays irritable throughout the whole movie after finding out she was lied to, making the flick itself, a 'ho-hum' comedy. When one is trying to be romantic or optomistic, the other is quite the opposite. The acting in everybody's characters tended to be overly dramatized, adding to the chaos of it all. Quarantine yourself from this flick.

Summary: Regrettably weak
Review: The biggest disappointment in this sparkling romantic comedy is that the story starts off with such a lively step and good humour, then gives in to sappy sentimentalism and weak plot movements in its conclusion. Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez couldn't be better as star-crossed lovers who click on their first meeting. The trouble is that Lopez is a high-anxiety wedding planner with a utility belt strapped on her that would make Batman look unprepared, and her newest client (Bridgitte Wilson-Sampras) is engaged to McConaughey. Choreographer Adam Shankman makes an ill-advised directorial debut that is rife with technical errors (extras that stare right into the camera, sloppy editing among the many) and is completely unaware as to how uneven the apparantly unfinished script really is. That said, his talents as a dance director are obvious considering that the tango scene between the two leads is the film's best moment and one of the most enjoyable dance scenes in a Hollywood film of recent years. Wilson-Sampras and Judy Greer, two consistently working character actresses, are given their very best roles to date in this film and subsequently give excellent performances. Star power is the real winner here though, and the two gorgeous headliners will keep you wanting more until the very end. Not as good as My Best Friend's Wedding and yet oddly enough I enjoyed it more.

Review: I'm sitting here and I just finished watching the Wedding Planner. it was so well planned it was predictable.It was a typical .Of course, what do you expect from a Hollywood movie? There was You've got Mail, She's all That ....all those chick flicks.Typical, typical, typical. The most hallarious thing was J.Lo 's father's best friend. He and Matthew M. made the movie. It was a cutsie little movie that you would watch while doing the ironing.

Summary: Atrocious Acting Kills Good Idea
Review: On the surface, this was a cute idea. Wedding planner falls in live with one of her clients. But this idea is quickly killed by a combination of a weak script and terrible acting. Most of the blame falls squarely on the beautiful shoulders of gorgeous Jennifer Lopez.Lopez has an acting range that can best be described as non-existent. She plays every scene with the same vacant-eyed look. She emits virtually no emotion and recites her lines as if they were written on cue cards. Her total lack of involvement in her character is appaling. Matthey McConaughey does not escape blame either. He gives essentially the same monosyballic performance that he did in EdTV - another good idea killed by his inept acting. The plot is mostly formula - Jennifer Lopez plays Mary Fiore, wedding planner falls in love with the groom she is supposed to be helping planning a wedding for. And the bride, played by beautiful but colorless Bridget Wilson-Sampras, practically throws her fiance at the Lopez. Talk about a case of being blind to the situation. I should add that the plot device used to bring Lopez and McConaughey together - she gets her shoe stuck in a manhole - is incredibly contrived. There a a number of other plot lines tossed in. Lopez supposedly is a member of a Scrabble club with her father (yeah, right), but this is not explored very much. It is hard to fathom a reason as to why the filmakers chose this plot device. Loez also suposedly has to nail this big client so that she can become a partner in the company. This plot device is also not utlized for any particular purpose. Mary's dad, played by the usually decent Alex Roccco, tries to fix her up with this Italian fellow, who seems to have come right out of central casting from the files of "Obnoxious Foreigner". It is yet another degrading sterotype. And why is he hanging around a bunch of old people? This is also not explained. One other unbelievable plot device is that Mary has not had a date in two years? Like who would believe that? This woman is absolutley stunning and she doesn't date? Maybe it's her personality. But a less pretty actress could have been more believable. But most of the problem with this movie is the attempt to craft a movie around someone who can't act. Lopez might work well in a lessor role where she doesn't have to carry the load and the success of the film doesn't depend on her role. This could have been a much better movie, had it starred actors with more ability. And had it been given a better script.

Summary: Up there with the best of the wedding flicks
Review: Over the last few years, the subject of a wedding has been winning formula for some of the most enjoyable and successful romantic comedies. We had Hugh Grant and Andie McDowell in "Four Weddings and a Funeral", Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in "The Wedding Singer" and Julia Roberts in "My Best Friends Wedding". And now add to the list Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey in the delightful, "The Wedding Planner". The story sees San Francisco's premier wedding planner Mary Fiore (Lopez, in an enjoyable performance) landing an account to head up the wedding for internet heiress Francine Donnelly (Bridgette Wilson - Sampras), and if this goes through, Mary will recieve a partner position in the business. Things are looking up, until she is literally bowled over by handsome Dr. Steve Edison (McConaughey, definitely establishing himself in romantic comedy lead male status). As she believes her romantic life is on the rise, thanks to Dr. Steve, Mary faces the horrible truth, and one we know is coming, Steve is Fran's fiance. Now the tow are fighting their attraction for each other, resulting in an enjoyable, fluffy, often hilarious and cute romantic comedy. All the players are suited to their roles, and the two leads, Lopez and McConaughey, share believable chemistry. The secondary cast provide plenty of humourous support, in the form of Judy Greer (As Lopez's assistant), Justin Chambers (As a possible romantic contender for Lopez, despite her growing unattraction for him) and Charles Kimbrough and Joanna Gleeson as Fran's parents. The DVD also holds interesting extras. Apart from the usual trailer and behind the scenes segment, we have the featurette entitled "The Dancer and the Cowboy", which talks about how Lopez helped McConaughey out with the dancing scenes, and McConaughey gave it back by assisting Lopez with the horse riding. There is also commentary from director Adam Shankman, who was also the dance choreographer for such films as Boogie Nights and She's All That, and a series of deleted scenes, one which female viewers might enjoy as McConaughey pops up showing his bare chest. Although predictable, the film is immensely enjoyable and should be seen, if not owned, by all.

Summary: A Classic Love Story That Deserved More Praise
Review: I can't believe this movie didn't get better reviews from critics, Runaway Bride has practically the same plot line and got loads of praise, but this one got[pardon the pun] run over by a dumpster. It shouldn't have. The storyline is typical, but so what? They all are. Jennifer Lopez is fabulous as Mary, I loved the character she played. Matthew McConaughey, while not because of his looks, is definitely leading-man material, he has a such charm and grace that isn't found in most movies lately. It's a cute story that is definitely humerous at times, a must-see if you like comedies like Runaway Bride.
