Summary: So, I Laughed My Butt Off
Review: I admit I didn't like this movie at first; I've never been much a fan of watching Mike Myers mug his way through films. I dislike Wayne's World and despise Austin Powers.

This charming movie, however, Myers' fourth film outing, shows a subdued and sweet actor finding his way among a dozen equally-talented, incredible comedic actors. Other reviewers have focused on Myers' portrayal of the racy Scottish father, but to me that's just another example of him chewing up scenery like it was chocolate-covered graham crackers. Instead, take some time to watch him interact with Amanda Plummer or Anthony LaPaglia, his underappreciated costars. He is quiet, charming, vulnerable and funny, without being obnoxious.

The story is about Charlie McKenzie, a beat poet in San Francisco who has a history of dumping women for stupid reasons ("She smelled like soup...beef vegetable soup..." He meets Harriet, a lady butcher, with whom he falls in love. But wait! Is it possible she's the murderous Mrs. X, who marries men and kills them on their honeymoons? Charlie thinks so, and the ride is on from there.

Pay special attention to the hysterical interplay between Alan Arkin and LaPaglia who play a police captain and undercover detective, respectively. Also watch for the uncredited costar, the city of San Francisco, which is shot more beautifully here than I've seen in any other film.

This DVD deserves a lot of extras, commentaries, behind-the-scenes footage, outtakes, etc. With a stunning cast like this one, there must be treasures moldering in a vault somewhere, but you'll find none of them here. Aside from a soundtrack in Portuguese (? ) and subtitles in Korean, Thai and a host of other languages, you'll find none of that here. You'll just have to be satisfied with a wonderful movie.

Review: This is one of my all time favorite comedies. I love Mike Meyer's work in this film. The slapstick element is hillarious.

Summary: Woman....Whoa Man!
Review: I really enjoyed this video it had a bit of mystery, a bit of comedy, a bit of romance, a bit of action, and a bit of...... lots of everything else. I personally think this video is way better than Austin Powers. Which wears out after a while. You can also see this movie on Comedy Central. In fact. Its on right now!

Summary: Parody of everyday life
Review: After watching this movie more than 6 times - lost count already - we decided we enjoy it so much that we now own a copy.

Poking fun at everyday life in a hundred different ways, this movie keeps you chuckling throughout and leaves you with that "feel-good movie" feeling at the end. Great family entertainment, although the humour will be a bit above the heads of pre-teens. Casting for this movie was also very well done.

You can't help remembering classic lines, particularly those of Charlie's father, whose comments about the Colonel's chicken take the smoke and mirrors of marketing slogans head on. Charlie's mother's battle of the bulge with her "Juice Tiger" makes women bashfully cringe at the memories of fad diets - most of us have been down that road, haven't we? All in all, plenty of hearty laughs with a great blend of fun, humour, suspense and neatly "twisted" story line.

Summary: Some great laughs!
Review: This may not be the greatest comedy ever but it certainly beats some that have laid claim to that title. Mike Myers plays both Charlie Mackenzie and his father. He's a hoot as the Scottish father. The scene when Charlie and his friend Tony (Anthony LaPaglia)go to Charlie's parents' house for dinner is hilarious. We've almost worn out that part of the tape. Myers as the father steals the show in this scene, ranting about conspiracies involving the Queen, the Vatican, The Gettys, The Rothschilds, and "Colonel Sanders before he went teats up." The beautiful Nancy Travis is Charlie's latest love interest and his latest cause of paranoia. Brenda Fricker as Charlie's mother, May Mackenzie, is hilarious in the scene where she says goodnight to Tony in a very friendly way. The plot and the misadvnetures of Charlie and his suspicions of his latest love almost take a back seat to the scenes of Myers as his father.

Summary: So I Married An Axe Murderer....Mike Myers' funniest film
Review: I first saw this film many years ago, and laughed the whole way through. He lost a lot of his edge of Austin Powers 2, but this film is one of those great little sleeper hits. I own in on video and DVD, and it never gets old. Especially in the film when he portrays his father, Stuart Mackenzie. Classic. Highly recommended, especially for fans of Myers!
