Rating: Summary: Cute, but could have had more laughs. Review: I am a big fan of romantic comedies, but nowadays, its more romance than comedy. I wish they made more movies like Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride. I'm not saying "Two Weeks Notice" is terrible, I just wish there was more funny for my money. Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant make a good movie couple but they are both known for having laugh filled movies. Sandra was hilarious in "Miss Congeniality" and Hugh was good in both "About a Boy" and "Bridget Jones' Diary". If you are looking for a romantic comedy for the entire family then I suggest you get this movie, because there was no sexual situations and most of the sexual humor will fly over the kids heads and there is like one or two mild bad words (I heard only one but it was only "hell" and there is no other language from what I heard). Anyway, check this comedy out because its likeable but lacks laugh-out-loud humor.
Rating: Summary: Predictable Fluff Review: Nothing worth seeing-- Grant has made some classics in this genre (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones's Diary)-- but "Two Weeks Notice" is not a classic. It isn't even an admirable effort. It is clear he enjoyed working with Sandra Bullock offscreen, but they share little onscreen chemistry. Bullock continues her title as the "poor man's Julia Roberts" -- it's not a harmful film-- it's just not very good.
Rating: Summary: A Far Cry From Notting Hill Review: I've always been a big fan of Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock and I was really looking forward to seeing the two of them together. I sincerely wanted to enjoy myself, but the one thing you heard ALL the critics agree upon about this film turned out to be absolutely true-- It's about as ordinary and unoriginal as a romantic comedy can be. The conflicting question among the critics was: Were Bullock and Grant able to turn a rather dull movie into something good? I didn't think so unfortunately. Heck, I don't even think the pairing of Superman and Wonder Woman could have saved this film. It certainly doesn't compare well to Grants previous picture, ABOUT A BOY. My recommendation is not to waste your money on this movie unless you're a fan of these two actors... My final review is two and a half stars... Just too average and not many laughs.
Rating: Summary: Bullock boring. Even Hugh Grant can't save this movie. Review: Hugh Grant does his enjoyable act to perfection in this movie but it is so lacking in story that it's rendered mind-numbing syrup even by romantic comedy standards. The schlock political message they attempt is embarrasing even to liberals. And let's face it, Sandra Bullock is just not a screen beauty, cute maybe, but that nasal voice that not will carry a movie.
Rating: Summary: Nothing special Review: Same story we've seen many times before. You know whats going to happen just by seeing the preview. Grant is great and charming. Bullock is her same old clumsy character. Supporting cast provides laughs as well. All right if you have nothing better to see.
Rating: Summary: Winning Duo Review: Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock star in TWO WEEKS NOTICE, a light hearted romantic comedy that's sure to please. Meet Lucy Kelson (played by Sandra Bullock). She is a lawyer who uses her powers to do good, often protesting for the preservation of old buildings and other worthy causes. Now meet George Wade (played by Hugh Grant). He's a rich business man who is looking for a new cheif counsel. He finds Lucy, who wants to talk to him about saving her local community center that is being torn down. She agrees to work for him on the condition that the building is not torn down. He promises her. She is against everything he is and stands for. You can imagine the sparks and comments that fly between these two! The movie is well acted by these two, there is obvious chemistry here and they play well on it. There is a lot of humor, and touching moments. It's a fun romantic comedy that fans of the genre will enjoy. They both shine!
Rating: Summary: a movie for all to see Review: don't listen to the critics. this is awesome.
Rating: Summary: The Pleasure of Their Company Review: Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock are two of the most charming and amusing actors working today. These same characteristics resonate through their movie, Two Weeks Notice. A throw back to the screwball comedies of the 1930's and 1940's, Two Weeks Notice is so much better than most of the movies being passed off today as romantic comedies. There is some very witty and intelligent banter between the characters. Effort is made by the writer/director Marc Lawrence to make the viewer understand why George (Grant) has never lived up to his potential and why Lucy (Bullock) the overachiever, still falls short in the eyes of her mother. As with any opposites attracts movie, the two are destined to collide and bring out the best in each other. This is not a groundbreaking movie, but in this day and age when movies seem to be increasingly reliant on special effects, it is a pleasure to be entertained by a movie that is instead carried by the chemistry between its two leads. The DVD version of Two Weeks Notice gives the viewer the opportunity to get a glimpse of the affection shared by Bullock, Grant, and Lawrence for each other and the fun they had making the movie. Much like the commentary Bullock and Lawrence did for Miss Congeniality, the Two Weeks Notice commentary, although not particularily insightful about the making of the movie, does offer a peek at how funny and engaging these individuals are in real life. The Two Bleeps Notice feature that can be enabled while watching the movie is wonderful as it allows the viewer to see some hilarious outtakes in the context of their placement in the movie. The DVD also contains a HBO Making Of promotional piece, the theatrical trailer, and two deleted scenes, one of which is the alternate ending (wedding). This may not be a movie and DVD for everyone. But, if you like romantic comedies or are a fan of either actor, you will find yourself enjoying the pleasure of their delightful company.
Rating: Summary: Witless Review: An absolute dud! This movie is poorly written, ineptly directed, and edited with no sense of comedy or continuity. I am a big fan of both Grant and Bullock, but I have to say that this is one of the WORST movies that I have ever seen!
Rating: Summary: worst movie I've ever seen.... Review: Even by chick flick standards this was bad. Probably the only good thing about it was Hugh Grant's performance, which wasn't too bad. Whoever wrote his character certainly didn't give him much to work with.. I almost was able to forget about his whole embarrassing prostitute scandal while I watched it. When one is watching this one asks themselves how a man who can't even pick out what clothes to wear for the day got to be so successful. Sandra Bullock plays the typical radical liberal, along with her parents, who warn her that Hugh Grant's character is just a "robber baron".. hm another one of those liberal catch-phrases.. if you happen to like those be excited because you'll hear plenty of them. The whole time you knew the story was leading up to them somehow "falling" for each other, you just kept wondering how it would be possible. If you want a good movie in this genre of "woman somehow falling for rich businessman" watch the Thomas Crown Affair.. it's not a comedy but much more entertaining and little more believable. At least enough where you get swept up into the movie instead of sitting there the whole time thinking when is this going to end so I can get out of here. I think I laughed once, although it was more like a chuckle.
