Summary: Silly very Silly, Jim Carrey in my mind can't act
Review: Jim Carrey one of Hollywood's most annyoning players plays the ultimate loser in this rather chidish and yet another uninspired attempt to try to woo an audience. He plays Stanley, a bank clerk, a nice guy who is such pushover that one day he stumbles across a mask belonging to ancient god of who knows what and becomes a macho green guy who tries to imitate Clint Eastwood. The special effects alone is fanatastic but that's the only good thing worth mentioning in this lame film. If JimCarrey continues to go on this self indulgent path to make child like films that see him as an horse's behind he won't be around for a long time to come because people will get sick & tired of seeing his same old antics on the silver screen. Cameroen Diaz as Carrey's love intrest please! she must need the cash badly to take part in a comedy masscare like this. Is Jim Carrey worth $20 Millon per film after seeing this you won't think so anymore.

Summary: It's Party Time!
Review: For fun and visual humor, this film just can't be beat. Jim Carry is superbly cast as Stanley Ipkiss -- "Mr. Nice Guy" and one of life's loosers. That is, until he happens upon an old carved Norse mask (supposedly having belonged to the god of mischief, Loki). Once having donned the mask, Stanley is transformed from a meek introvert into a hip "man about the town" who turns every situation to his advantage -- and this occurs in the most comical fashion imaginable. Heavily based on cartoon-like animation (which the character, Stanley, has a passion for), the mask performs astonishing feats that will have you grinning from ear to ear. It's a cartoon show come to real life. The special effects in the movie are very well done. The Mask's first experience on the town (as he leaves the rooming house) with an animated clock and his unsuspecting land-lady, Mrs Peenman; his encounter with a rude motorist ("I think he wants to communicate"); and the scene with a couple of overcharging mechanics ("Hold onto your lugnuts, it's time for an overhaul!") are very well done -- and only the prelude to even better sequences later. One of the most priceless parts is where the Mask is cornered by every police officer (including SWAT) in the neighborhood, then turns the situation into a song and dance fest with a Cuban flavor. It's hilarious. (great music too!) Jim Carry is a natural straight comic - rivaling Robin Williams. His talents come across full-force in this film. And don't forget, sexy star Cameron Diaz also plays a prominate part opposite Mr. Carry. This one's a treat for everyone. If you haven't seen it yet, rent a copy today. Only the most dour will fail to find something to like about the film. As the tagline says, it's fantastic fun. ~P~

Review: I have seen this movie many times. Jim Carrey is at his best playing two different characters. The dancing sequences are very well done. The animation is so well done that you sometimes take it for granted. The DVD exhibits awesome sound just from the TV speakers alone. The images are crystal clear and show brilliant colors. You have the option of listening to the director's commentary throughout the entire movie. He gives a wonderful personal perspective of how he shot the film. There is never a boring moment in this movie.

Summary: An Insanely Comedic Romp.
Review: This is the God's truth right off the bat...this is not your average comedy. This is a wild, cartoony movie. It's about your average work-a-day bank teller, Stanley Ipkiss, who finds a strange mask in a small chest that was buried there a mess of years ago. But when he first puts it on (which is kind of an intense scene for kids; parental discretion advised), he becomes a man with a green face and a snazzy suit; a "love-crazy wild man" with the combined personality of Bugs Bunny and Alfred E. Neuman. Ssssmokin'! And this movie has bang-up special effects, including the scene where he bounces off the walls (literally) and comes crashing through a window, and the scene where his jaw drops (also literally) at first sight of Cameron Diaz, who also fits this movie well. If you love to watch crazy and totally unpredictable movies, see The Mask. It will blow you away.

Review: If you haven't seen this movie it, buy it. Carrey rocks and it's even fun for kids! No tacky scenes or bad language. Our 2-1/2 year old really likes it, too.

Review: I really liked this film and it was one of Carrey's first triumphs. I heard stories of a sequel (revenge of the mask) but yet I havent heard anymore on the subject, but then in one of Carrey's filmographies I saw it printed there.

Review: This is a perfect vehicle for the zany talents of Jim Carrey loosly based upon a Tex Avery cartoon. Carrey puts a twist on the Hero's journey as everyday man possessed by his Trickster Shadow. The action never ends, and the music is infectious. Cameron Diaz gives one her best performances to date. The climax is non-stop fun action that moves briskly along. Robert O'Reilly's physical acting when hunting down the bemasked pooch is hilarious. This film is a better treatment for depression than Prozac.
