Summary: Another French movie copied into Hollywood style.
Review: Not bad actually, buy John Cusack looks pretty old, skinny and tired in this movie, I almost thought he got early stage of AIDS symptons. I just wish him well, because he is a really good actor.

Summary: If your a sap for romance you'll love this movie
Review: I love this movie because it actually makes you feel like things happen for a reason and it lets you dream that everyone will find that one special person out there. If you like movies that let you escape from everyday life then you'll love this one. Not to mention that John Cusak just gets better looking with age! :)

Summary: A Fun Movie
Review: This movie is wonderful. I went to the theater to see it and fell absolutely in love with it. The movie stars John Cusack as a hopeless romantic in the wonderful New York City. He meets a girl, Sara (Kate Beckinsale- "Pearl Harbor") and falls for her during a romantic night on the town. One problem- she thinks that fate doesn't want them to be together, but tells him she will write her name and number in a book, sell it to used bookstore, and if he finds it, fate wants them to be together. Years pass. He's getting married, she's engaged. Since this is a romantic comedy, it's predictable, but that doesn't matter. The actors are great, the movie is funny, Cusack is adorable, and this movie should NOT be passed up! Rent it, buy it, whatever. You must see this movie!

Summary: The nicest piece of romantic fluff in years.
Review: Sure, it stretches credibility some, but it's sort of supposed to. All the talk of Fate and Destiny at work in a movie that demonstrates that there is no such thing as a coincidence. It's supposed to be far-fetched, and you're supposed to go along with it.

Assuming you do, you'll have a wonderful time, because this one's put together very, very well. Fine performances from Cusack and Beckinsale in the leads are nearly lost amid the excellent performance by the supporting cast: Jeremy Piven as the loquacious obituary-writer-best-man, Molly Shannon as the oddly "earthbound" new-ager, Eugene Levy as the obstinate store clerk, John Corbett as the free-spirited musician boyfriend, and even a small, uncredited cameo appearance from Buck Henry.

To describe the plot at all is to do this film a disservice. Take it from me: if you like romantic comedies and you can play along with the premise (which isn't that big a stretch, really), you'll enjoy this film very much.

Summary: Sweet, Funny, Delightfult
Review: This movie is a delightful surprise! It is sweet, funny, romantic, charming - and accompishes all that without any blatant sex scenes or foul language - whatta concept... John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale are marvelous and totally believable as the two protagonists... I heartily recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys romantic comedy and would like for once not to be assaulted with the usual garbage Hollywood so often wraps a movie around...

Summary: A gem of a movie!
Review: This movie was wonderful! The characters were played perfectly by John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. I saw and immediately liked it. The characters made the movie so real, it was unbelievable!
I give it an A+! Don't hesitate to see this movie! Go out and see it ASAP!

Summary: Overrated on Amazon
Review: You know there is something wrong with the movie, when you came back from restroom and ask "what did I miss?" and your friend tell you "nothing".

The idea that two persons met by accident and the girl let the fate decide what happens next is very interesting, but the execution of the movie is just not up to standard. This 91-min. movie is too slow, the time spent on transistion is meaningless, and the inital scene between the main characters are too short.

I give it one star for the idea, another one for the delete scenes (which shows what movie could have been, makes you wonder why director cut some of them), and another one for the occasional romantic atmosphere it creates.

Summary: Extremely Predictible, almost Annoying
Review: I found it almost annoying that the premise of a movie would be that two people come together with great promise but the woman gets this feather headed idea to leave their whole future up to fate. She is writing her name and address in a book she is going to sell to a New York City used books store so he can find her if the book ever finds its way into his hands. His name is on currency that, if fate speaks, will find its way into her hands. I like John Cusack a lot and Kate Beckinsale is a very good ingenue type. However, this is very... and I recommend watching it only if you've run out of other things to put on your player. I can't believe that some people are actually comparing this to Grant and Kerr in the classic "An Affair to Remember." I wish.

Summary: (4-1/2 stars) Invigorating
Review: I don't remember exactly why I went to see this movie, but I'm glad I did. John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale do a tremendous job portraying people who meet one night but then part ways (half-intentionally) to see if fate will bring then back together years later. Sure it sounds like a boring, played-out plot on paper, but it all depends on the details and actions that define the movie, and overall everything works well. It's also interesting to see Molly Shannon not playing an "idiot". In fact, her character was one of the few people that had common sense. Anyway, this movie is great. Check it out.

Summary: Slightly better than average
Review: GENERAL: While predictible, Serendipity makes a good rental that will leave with a happy feeling.
ACTING: Good, especially from John Cusack as a man yearning for a woman he met and fell in love with one evening. Heck, even Kate Beckinsdale and Molly Shannon hold their own.
PLOT: Like I said before, fairly predictable but interesting none the less. Basically, two people in New York meet one night and fall in love. But the woman, and New Age-ish type, believes that they weren't meant to be together unless something unlikely happens- like him finding a book with her phone number in it, or her finding a $5 bill his his on it. Slightly goofy but something new.
COMEDY: There are some hilarious moments, and those that just fall flat. Could have been better in my opinion.
MUSIC: A good soundtrack, better quality than other aspects of this movie. Definitely worth borrowing from a library.
SPECIAL FEATURES: Very good for a romantic comedy, especially the deleted scenes with an alternate beginning. Very interesting and of a generally high quality, the specs won't disappoint.
MY GRADE: B
