Summary: BOYFRIEND AND GIRLFRIEND MOVIE
Review: MY GIRLFRIEND AND I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF THIS MOVIE. ALTHOUGH THE PLOT IS PREDICTABLE, THE STORY AND THE MUSIC MAKE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH THE MAIN CHARACTERS AND THE IDEA OF THEM FINDING EACH OTHER. IT ALSO SHOWS HOW PEOPLE CAN ACT WHEN DRIVEN BY LOVE, WHICH IS ALWAYS A LITTLE BIT RIDICULOUS.
JOHN CUSACK PLAYS A GREAT MAN UNDER STRESS AND KATE BECKINSALE IS JUST THE SWEET GIRL EVERY MAN WOULD LIKE TO HAVE. A GREAT MOVIE, HOWEVER I DO NOT RECCOMEND THE MOVIE FOR A BACHELOR AND HIS BUDDIES.

Summary: Just Excellent!!!

Summary: Romantic, Entertaining
Review: The belief in destiny is central to the plot of this movie. It is mix of "Fools rush in", "Sleepless in Seattle" and "When Harry met Sally".

Destiny brings Jonathan (John Cusack) and Sara (Kate Beckinsale) to Bloomingdale's and they reach out for the same last pair of gloves. It starts a series of events that end happily several years later. That fateful evening they spend some time together- in the coffee shop, skating and looking at stars. Sara strong belief in destiny separates even though they both enjoy and feel strongly attracted to each other. Sara writes her name and phone number in a book and promises to sell it to a bookshop. She has Jonathan write his name and number on a five-dollar bill and buys mints with it. If, she reasons, fate has destined for them to be together, they will find each other's name and number. Flash forward a couple of years. Jonathan has met Hally (Bridget Moynahan) and is about to marry her. Sara has met Lars (John Corbett) and is engaged to him. But the memories of that magical night with each other are too wonderful to forget. A series of signs and the inevitability of marriage make Jonathan try to influence the destiny. In the meantime (coincidentally) Sara too sets out to search for Jonathan. What follows is a series of near misses that can sometimes test the limits of your patience. Eventually, as expected, the couple does meet and (obviously) dump their respective betrothed.

The fact that the series of coincidences sometimes seem implausible or that the plot of the film is not innovative does not take away anything from the charm of the film. This entertaining movie is a definite date-flick. But the viewers will have to shutdown their logic processors before they really start enjoying this movie. All in all, a highly watchable flick that will leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling. This movie is highly recommended to hopeless romantics, destiny-believers and those just looking to spend a relaxed evening with their significant other.

Summary: You'll be glad you stumbled on this one
Review: I LOVED this movie! The plot was absurd, the events and sequences completely far-fetched, the timing impossible, and the match-up unlikely. But you know what? Who cares! The warm and fuzzy awwwww-factor blew all that away. This is a great wintertime or Christmas movie, especially curled up in front of the fire with someone special. Some might call it a chick-flick. I call it a good romantic comedy that is worthy of owning and watching more than once. John Cusack was incredibly endearing in this movie and Kate Beckinsale was an exceptional co-star. There's not much cast beyond them and that's good. It's really all about these two people and the remarkable way they come together. It's simply charming.

Summary: When left to fate, romance gets silly
Review: This movie is a sopaipilla, light and fluffy with no filling. It is founded on the premise that two star-fated lovers played by John Cusack and the beguiling (in a British sort of way) Kate Beckinsale, are destined to be together and leave fate to find it's way into each other arms. When it comes down to it, the movie is trite, predictable, and wholly unoriginal. Its saving grace is the chemistry created between Cusack and Beckinsale, Molly Shannon's quirky-ness, and some verbal ranting between Cusack and his long-time sidekick Jeremy Piven.

Everything about the relationship set-up between Cusack and Beckinsale is annoyingly narrowly missed opportunities. They pick the same floors on separate elevators but never meet, they pass each other in the city time and time again, by the predictable conclusion you are left not caring too much if they come together or not. There are some beautiful cinematic shots of New York and San Francisco. John Corbett does an annoyingly soft turn at new age musician Lars Hammond making you wish for the days of Chris in the morning on KBER from the Northern Exposure days.

For a date movie, this one was pretty hard to enjoy for both my date/wife and myself. Go get "Family Man" or "Say Anything" if you want to get all googly-eyed and weepy with your mate. Skip this one though unless you are a died-in-the-wool die-hard die-cast into oblivion romantic.

Summary: ROMANTIC MASTERPIECE!
Review: I will keep this brief. If you like John Cusack films, you will love this movie. Very entertaining and extremely romantic. It really makes you feel lucky to have found your own "soulmate". I HIGHLY reccomend this film to all you romantics out there. Watch it with your girl...

Summary: You gotta have faith.
Review: When I first saw "Serendipity," I thought it was a bit skinny. It lacked depth even for a movie about something pretty ephemeral. Now, after seeing the directors's commentary and viewing the deleted scenes, I have a pretty good impression of why I felt that way. I believe they started out to make one kind of movie and lost faith in it and turned it into something else. Instead of a fun, quirky, new ageish film centered on multiple coincidences, they came up with a hodge podge of disconnected ideas including Eugene Levy, Buck Henry and reshoots of the first three scenes in the movie. I really think it's a shame they couldn't have gone with, and perhaps expanded on their original idea rather than throwing a life preserver out for random comedy, hoping to make the movie funnier. John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale are terrific in this movie. The chemistry between them is outstanding. The movie could have been really good. As is, it's okay. The DVD lets us know what we missed.

Summary: A magical and romantic ride
Review: Alright, we all know that nuthing like what happens in the show will ever happen in our lives, but nevertheless just imagine for a moment that it could...
The show is basically about fate and destiny, both taken to the extremes. Guy meets girl whom he's never met b4 while christmas shopping, and within 5 minutes they've fallen in love. Though the plot might seem cheeesy and fluffy, the many pictureperfect romance scenes (i.e. rollerskating under a starry night together)makes you think...."whao..i would give anything to experience a moment like that", and makes you wonder about your own fate and destiny.
The best way to enjoy this show is not to be critical about the unrealness of the show but to just sit back, relax, and be taken on a beautiful ride of romance and fate, not to mention the soothing soundtrack of the film.
John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale have a wonderful chemistry together on set and i would recommend Serendipity to all Romantic/feelgood buffs (such as myself) or anyone looking for the perfect date movie.

Summary: Romantic saps take notice...highly improbable chick flick
Review: This movie is, well, how can I say this...dumb! Yea, that's it. This movie is so far fetched, I have seen more plausible alien invasion movies than this!! I mean, c'mon, what kind of guy would spend his last hours of freedom searching for a girl who he only spent a couple hours with? And fly across the country in search of her the night before his wedding? What!???? Talk about unrealistic! And to think that someone as hot as Kate Beckinsale would still be on the market after 3 years is highly unlikely. Though romantic saps will love this movie, it is far too improbable and out of reach for my tastes. This movie is so unlikely, I can't even classify it as a fairy tale. Don't tempt "fate", stay away from this movie!! Rent or buy something more realistic, like Black Hawk Down.
