Summary: THE BEST MOVIE
Review: I'd have given this movie 10 stars if they allowed it. While some might say this is predictable and soppy etc (and they are right), it's such a great movie and I could watch it a thousand times in a row. Not only is John Cusack totally gorgeous, but in this, he's funny and romantic. Jeremy Piven and Kate also give fantastic performances in Serendipity and one of the funniest people in the cast is Eugine Levy. He's one great dude. If you like Sleepless in Seattle, You've got Mail and the like, then you'll truley love this too.

Summary: A Romantic and Gentle Film
Review: This is a sweet little romantic film that grows on you after the first half hour and has your full attention by the end. Kate Beckinsale is charming as the British girl John Cusack meets by chance at Christmas while shopping. They spend the evening trying to find out if destiny brought them together, only to lose touch, but leaving clues behind to see if it is fate being played out. John Cusack does a fine job in this liesurely paced film that ultimately really does have something to say. Jeremy Piven as Cusack's best friend and obit writer gives great support especially in the last half of the film when Cusack is on his quest to find her again before it is to late. The backdrop of New York and especially the outdoor ice skating rink at night serve to enhance the romantic atmosphere. Piven gives his buddy Cusack encouragement when he is about to give up by telling him how the Greeks believed to be truly romantic you should expect to be ridiculed and end up looking like a fool. He explains to Cusack how they had no obituarys in ancient Greece but only asked if a man had passion. This is a movie that encourages us to have passion and go for what we believe in our hearts, no matter what others may say about us. In Piven's words, "look like a jackass!" John Cusack plays this like a real guy we can identify with and Kate Beckinsale is full of charm and gives a sweet luminous performance. This is a really nice film that ends well and suprises us. I would encourage anyone to buy this film. It has a quiet charm all it's own and has a little something to say along the way....

Summary: Extra Features are HIDDEN Easter Eggs
Review: In a previous review, I mentioned that the DVD was misssing some of the the features listed on the package. I was WRONG. They are there, but they are hidden EASTER EGGS. To get to these bonus features, on the main menu, go to the "Bonus Features" and press enter. Use "down" on the remote until a snowflake appears to the right of the bottom part of the menue, highlight it and press Enter. A whole new bonus menue comes up with a "making of" feature from "Stars", storyboard comparisons etc.

Review: I was really surprised by this movie. I thought that it would be really sappy but it wasn't it was really good. The story was the best part of the movie. The part that really kept my attention was how they constantly kept missing each other.

Summary: BOY MEETS GIRL...BOY LOSES GIRL...BOY GETS GIRL...
Review: This film tells the story of soulmates who seem destined to be together only to be torn asunder by fate. It relates the journey that each one will make alone, only to have the fates ultimately put to right what once went wrong. Kate Beckinsale is positively luminous as Sara Thomas, the beautiful, young woman with whom Jonathan Trager, earnestly played by John Cusack, falls in love. They meet while Christmas shopping. The scene where they meet, however, haggling over the last pair of black, cashmere gloves in Bloomingdale's, an upscale Department Store in New York City, seems a tad too forced and contrived. Still, they end up spending a few pleasant hours together, and it seems as if they were destined for one another. The fates, however, intervene, and their paths diverge, setting each one on a separate life journey. They will, at times, unknowingly criss cross each other's paths, until they are once again reunited by the very same fates that brought about their separation. Jeremy Piven gives an engaging, high energy performance in the role of Dean Kansky, Jonathan's best friend, reprising his real life relationship with John Cusack. Molly Shannon is adequate in the role of Eve, though she seems miscast. John Corbett does a star turn as Lars Hammond, Sara's fiance, a new age musician with a world wide following. The lovely Bridget Moynahan, as Jonathan's fiancee, is nothing more than a movie prop, so rotely does she play her part. Moreover, while Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack give excellent performances, the chemistry between them seems to be at the low end of the spectrum. This is, however, a reasonably enjoyable, though predictable, date flick in the tradition of "Sleepless in Seattle". It should appeal to those with a penchant for light, romantic comedies.

Summary: Charming actors
Review: John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale make a charming duo in this light romantic comedy. They meet one day and have a wonderful time together but Kate has the theory that if they are meant to be together they will be without any effort on their parts, so she does not give him her number. Instead she writes it in a book which she says she'll give to a bookstore and it's his job to find it. We then see them several years later as they are both about to marry other people. There's nothing in this movie that you haven't seen before, but though predictable it is charming and makes for an enjoyable evening's viewing.

Summary: For those of us.....
Review: who still hold out hope that good things come to those who wait,..and believe in romance. This is a romantic comedy that doesn't present anything totally shocking and different, yet it is truly enjoyable as just what it is. Some other reviewers seem to have forgotten the type of movie it is supposed to be. Well acted, well done, and totally funny.
Jeremy Previn is great as the best friend. And Molly Shannon also gives a very respectable performance as "Sara's" best friend. It also did keep that subtle underlying suspense about how they would actually end up until the very end....Only after you've watched it several times, the suspense has worn off and of course you know how it ends. I am a huge fan of John Cusak's, I think he is not only adorable but also a good actor. With that said, even I will admit that the ONE thing that did seem a little mushy and over the top was the single tear coming down his cheek when he sees her again in one of the final scenes. However, to any other "movie fan" who thinks that ANYONE else could have performed this so-totally quintessential Cusak role, I seriously have to differ....and I would maintain my position on that until that book with the phone number comes "home!"

Summary: A fateful accident.
Review: This movie reminds me a lot of When Harry Met Sally, although it lacks severely the same class, chemistry, and realistic feel (I know, it's not fair to compare). John Cusack, who is aging into a younger Dustin Hoffman type, plays "John", who meets "Sara", played by the stunningly beautiful Kate Beckinsale, during a Christmas shopping stint at Bloomingdales in NYC. The two both feel wonderfully energized by each other's presence, and they spend the rest of the evening together, then part at the hands of fate. For those of us who feel that you create your own destiny, this is where the frustration begins. They each go back to their separate lives, and end up spending the next seven years settling into lukewarm engagements with people they have absolutely zero chemistry with. As Jack's wedding looms large, he begins to frantically search for Sara, much to the initial chagrin of his best friend (played, of course, by Jeremy Piven). After a series of borderline ridiculous unnoticed path-crossings and fate manipulations, they do, of course, end up finding each other. What happens? You'll have to watch to find out, although since a billion of these kinda movies have been made, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Kate Beckinsale outshines all the others, and John Cusack turns in his usual mediocre performance (Ben Affleck might have been a better choice), Jeremy Piven and Eugene Levy provide lukewarm comedy in their supporting roles, Bridget Moynahan was highly forgettable as John's fiance, and this film would have benefitted highly from the complete absence of Molly Shannon and John Corbett. This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, it's a worthwhile one-time rental. I have to wonder...wouldn't it have been better to exchange names and numbers the night they met, and spend those seven years together instead of incomplete and searching? It might have even made for a better movie.

Summary: Loved it!
Review: The men in my house may sneer, but my 13 year old daughter and I love good romantic comedy (and John Cusack!). This move was a fun evening for the two of us. Don't pick it apart, just relax and enjoy.
