Summary: Excellent cinematography
Review: This movie follows the classic tradition of stage presentations. Even the characters involved in the movie were carefully derived and planned. Rushmore was seemingly a pointless movie, full of slap-stick humor, yet full of a powerful message. Overall, a farce of cinematographic horrors often found in today's "Friends" type movies and TV shows. Well done. Jason Schwartzman is going to be a terrific actor in the future!

Summary: Good even without any extras...
Review: I give the movie 5 stars. But since the DVD only has the trailer, chapter search and the film itself..The DVD gets 4 stars.

This movie reminds me of cult favorites as "Harold and Maude" and "The Graduate" and contains the same subtle dark humor found in films by Robert Altman ("Shortcuts") and scripts by Buck Henry ("To Die For").

It's obviously not for everyone. But at least give it a rental and decide for yourself. It will either irritate you or if you are more fortunate, haunt you and make you curious enough to want to watch it again until you fall in love with it.

I saw it twice in the theater and laughed harder the second time around.

The puppy-love antics between Mr. Blume and Miss Cross make for some of the sweetest and funniest scenes ever to be put into film.

Summary: one of the worst films ever
Review: I can't believe that there are people who actually saw the movie and could actually say they enjoyed it. I saw this movie with 5 people and we coudln't believe that someone actually agreed to make this movie and worse- star in it! It's really bad people. It's not funny, it's boring, and when you finish watching it you feel like you just burned some brain cells. This has got to be one of the most pathetic excuses for a film that I have EVER seen. All involved should be ashamed. stay FAR FAR FAR away.

Summary: Disappointing,unique but went nowhere.
Review: Max captures us right from the start as an outrageous paradox. Nerd who gets bad grades, ability to talk his way to anything but gets nothing really done. Movie then doesn't do much with him and Bill Murray. A couple of good scenes then drag into a mean spirited, baffling last 45 minutes. I was expecting much more from the hype. Obscure Who and Stones songs are very cool though. Definitely a rent, not a buy.

Summary: A True Classic!!!
Review: I could go on and on about why I think this a beautiful film. From the flawless performance by Jason Schwartzman, to the stellar direction of Wes Anderson, right down to the kick ass soundtrack. This might just be THE perfect film the world has been waiting for. Bravo!! a hundred times over.

Summary: in your face
Review: Although many have chosen "quirky" as a way to describe this film, it is only at a loss for an accurate one-word description. This is an original film on a variety of levels (from the most base to the most intellectual). I would especially recommend seeing Bottle Rocket prior to this film. Not only will it allow one to be initiated to this unique brand of humor, but it allows one to compare characters between the two films (the dynamic of kubar and littlejeans is incredible).

Summary: not what you expect
Review: From the previews, this movie looks like a laugh out loud comedy, but the truth is, its not really that funny. It is quite a dark comedy, and you really laugh after watching the whole thing and really getting some of the subtle jokes (part of director Wes Anderson and writer Owen C. Wilson's style). I recommend watching the first film by this team... "Bottle Rocket" before watching this, that way you'll get used to this style of filmmaking. Great performances in this movie by jason schwartman and Bill Murray who should've gotten an oscar. Max's plays will make you wet yourself!

Summary: very disappointed
Review: I didn't think this movie was funny at all. I could not get through the entire movie. I am a Bill Murray fan. but was very disappointed in this piece of work. You can do better Bill!!!

Summary: One of the best films of the decade
Review: I wont go into too many specifics, but just would like to reiterate how fresh, positive and wistful this movie is. I would also like to note the similarities between this and "Election". The two go hand in hand, as a yin and yang. "Rushmore" is like a dream....much of it is a far-fetched fantasy, and at its deepest is a study of love, infatuation and artistic drive. "Election" is the antithesis. It is a study of power, sex and greed, and how even "good guys" can fall to menacing lows. Both are strange, dark comedies about life as a teen and how people live thier lives around teenagers...but in a nutshell both of these wonderful films are a better study of human nature than any pretentious "art film" will ever be. "Rushmore" is definitely the better of the two, but see them both, and you will notice these similarites and differences.

Summary: Off beat, quirky, and an unusual movie. See it!
Review: This is an entertaining and intelligent movie. Unexpected and different than the typical "Hollywood" movie. Refreshing and fun. Give it a chance and stick with it...it is worth it!
