Summary: A Good clean romantic film for the family!
Review: I really enjoyed watching this movie. Both Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan were outstanding characters as they find out that they were falling in love online. Even though this situation happens very rarely, I think that it was well done! Needless to say, I watched it a total of six times, getting more and more out of it each time.!

Summary: Wonderful.
Review: A clean, lovely, and romantic movie. This is the way movies should be made. A sweeter film has not been made in a very long time.

Summary: Nora Ephron's formula is showing its age
Review: I get the feeling that Nora Ephron has a little machine with different plot threads that she weaves together. One combination results in "When Harry Met Sally" another results in "Sleepless In Seattle". The latest combination resulted in "You've Got Mail".

Tom Hanks plays Joe Fox, son of a bookstore chain magnate. Meg Ryan is Cathleen Kelley, who runs "The Shop Around The Corner", the epitome of a cute children's bookstore founded by her mother. They are email pen pals, without knowing any particulars about each other, like their real names or their occupations. Of course, Fox's bookstore empire decides to build a store in Cathleen Kelly's neighborhood, going into direct competition with Kelly's "The Shop Around The Corner". The two protagonists meet, without knowing they are email buddies.

Tom Hank's character (Joe Fox) has some nice moments in revealing himself at the end of the movie. But the central conflict, which goes to the core values of the two protagonists, is never resolved. At one point, Hanks says of their business competition "It's business, not personal". Ryan points out that it's personal to her, and the people who work in her store. But what Joe Fox (Hanks) feels about what he has done to the life of a woman he cares about deeply is never satisfactorily explained.

This is a cute movie, but it feels formulaic. The direction is competent but uninspired. It feels as if Ephron has neglected to put real people underneath the comic personas of Ryan and Hanks. The supporting cast is sketched so faintly that they all but disappear.

It's sort of the Lethal Weapon III of cute relationship comedies. Towards the end, you get the feeling that popular songs are being ushered on and off as fast as they can so that they can make an appearance on the soundtrack album. It's competently crafted, but you've been there before. You shed a tear at the end, but you know you're being manipulated.

If you're looking for a bookstore comedy/romance set in New York, I'd suggest "Crossing Delancey".

Summary: Refreshingly romantic.
Review: The age old story of that thin line between love and hate really comes alive in this wonderful, easily watchable movie. The winning combination of Hanks and Ryan once again makes this a wonderfully witty, well acted and genuinely pleasant film!

Summary: A lovely movie
Review: I like this movie a lot. Somehow, it let me recall of "Sleepless in Seattle" all the time. I was touched at the end of the movie when Meg said I dreadly hope it was you... I was speechless at this momenent. Just love it!

Summary: Spellbinding
Review: This is a great movie for family viewing -- no swearing, porn. Just plain old 'clean'. Both characters were very witty as they wrote mail. We must see it again soon just to re-enjoy the depth of this production.

Summary: A classic romantic comedy with a 90's edge
Review: A very touching and happy movie with Hanks and Ryan in the roles they play best. Yes, it is boy meets girl but it is not all smooth sailing, however the ending is totally inevitable but perhaps that is exactly what leaves you feeling everything is alright with the world after all.

Summary: I loved it.
Review: I thought it was a great movie. It's designed for ppl who love soppy romances, without any pornish stuff or swearing. Like me. It was loads of fun. It was romantic, funny. Maybe the two main reasons I liked it was: 1. I love books. 2. I love comedy-romances It was great. But that's only my opinion. You'll have to c it for yourself. And if u don't like it give it as a birthday/aniversery pressie 2 someone who is bound to.

Summary: True acting shown once again!
Review: You've got Mail is a wonderful comedy that once again truly uses both actor's talents. It is very light hearted comedy, and, while maybe not as excellent as Sleepless, is true perfection still the same! Go see it, you will love it!
