Summary: Charming!
Review: This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The movie is a true classic. Hepburn and Bogart are two extraordinary actors and will remain two of my very favorites. I truly enjoyed this movie and will always enjoy it.

Summary: One, two, three, Crack!
Review: Susan Faludi, beware of this movie. This is a classic unfeminist supporting, fairy tale about an ugly duckling (played by Audrey Hepburn, can you believe it?) obsessed with a rich, unobtainable man. She goes off to paris to learn to cook, and ends up cooking for the rich unobtainable man's older brother for the rest of her life. It isn't the most ambitious of lives, but the story was well written and Hepburn and Bogart were stunning. Romantic comedies in the 90's just don't have the same charm.

Summary: Audrey does it again
Review: "Sabrina" is another wonderful and charming movie. Sabrina is a servant's daughter who has been in love with the younger son of the Larrabee family. The Larrabees are one of the wealthiest and snobbiest families of Long Island. Sabrina longs for David, played by William Holden. David ignores her and concentrates on beautiful socialites. His older brother, Linus, played by Humphrey Bogart is all work and no play. Sabrina goes away to Paris for two years. When she returns, the transformation is astonishing. She has gone from gawky to glam. David is suddenly enraptured. Things get tricky when David gets engaged to someone else. Linus ends up taking her out instead. This a sweet and wonderful movie. It's one of Audrey's best.

Summary: Wilder Wonder!!
Review: Its truly a sacrilege that this film was "remade" with Harrison Ford. Bogart, Holden and Hepburn create a magic on the screen that is absurdly lost in the "remake" The supporting cast including a delightfull Walter Hampden and Nella Walker..,are perfect. Its from a Samuel Taylor play " Sabrina Fair"

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: This is the better of the two videos--the remake is okay, but there is something wonderful about the combination of Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn! The costumes she wears are to die for--while the story line may be seeing wear and tear in the age of cyberspace, the humor and staging beat the remake, hands down! See it, and you will agree!

Summary: A 5-Star Comedy Romance Classic, Hepburn & Bogart Shine
Review: In 1953, Audrey Hepburn won the 'Best Actress Oscar' for her work in "Roman Holiday" while still an amatuer actress. Paramount Pictures noticing her suberb acting quickly purchased the script "Sabrina" for the young star. And it's a good thing they did, the film was ranked with such classic romantic comedies as "Singin' in the Rain," & "Holiday Inn."

The Cinderella type story focusses on Sabrina, a chauffer's daughter mad in love with her father's employer, David Larrabee. David (William Holden) the playboy of the family, has recently been divorced 3 times & chases again & again after lovely young wemon. When breaking Sabrina's heart one night, Sabrina decides to commit suicide by letting the carbon monixide spread in the closed garage.

Luckily David's older business minded brother, Linus (Humphrey Bogart) comes for a car just before the gas takes its toll. Being sent to Paris the next morning for cooking school, Sabrina grows up to become a bueatiful, sophisticated women & when she returns 4 years later she causes some hilarious results when the newly engaged David, & Linus fall for her.

The movie was followed by a poor remake made in 1995 starring Harrison Ford as Linus Larrabee & Julia Ormond as Sabrina.

Summary: Sure to bring a smile to your face!
Review: In this delightful romantic comedy directed by Billy Wilder, a playboy millionaire, David Larrabee (Holden) falls for Sabrina (Hepburn) who has loved him her entire life. However, Sabrina is not a wealthy socialite; she is the chauffeur's daughter. While the crossing of social lines creates some tension, the main conflict is that David is already engaged to the daughter of a sugarcane magnate. Linus Larrabee (Bogart), David's older brother and a stuffy industrialist, arranges David's marriage in order to solidify the merger of Larrabee plastics with the corporation that produces the sugarcane used in the manufacture of the plastics. When Linus draws Sabrina's attention away from David so that she will not disrupt the marriage and merger plans, he ends up falling in love with her - and she with him!

While Bogart and Holden give seamless performances, Hepburn, with her purity and innocence, gives the crowning performance. Wilder intersperses the movie with slight comedic touches such as when David's injures his tush by sitting down on two wine glasses! Disappointingly, the documentary included in the DVD features no cast or crew interviews. It only has one interview with some man. (How he was involved in the making of film - I don't know.) He does tell some interesting stories, though. For example, at one point during the filming of the movie, Wilder asked Audrey to fake an illness for a day so that he could finish writing the next scene! The documentary also includes several stock photographs and narration, but unlike the movie itself, is far from fantastic.

Whether or not you are a Bogart, Holden, or Hepburn fan, if you enjoy classic romantic comedies with clever plots and superb characters, then you'll love Sabrina!

Summary: Bubbly and Shrewd, the Wilder Touch Is Ever Present
Review: With its cynical humor and the European-based sensibilities around different classes, this is most definitely a Billy Wilder picture. Truth be told, it is not quite in the same league as other Wilder classics like "Sunset Boulevard", "Some Like It Hot" or "The Apartment", but on its own, it's an airy soufflé of a comedy served on a perfectly lovely warming dish. What I like most about this movie is that Wilder keeps the fairy tale trappings of the story grounded in mordant wit and shrewd observations about business mergers, bribery and class snobbery. This is what keeps this movie surprisingly fresh today and why I assume it was ripe for a remake by Sydney Pollack. But only Wilder is capable of making a suicide scene in an extra large multi-car garage slyly funny or a discussion about class differences between a chauffeur and his employer seem mutually patronizing.

Torn between the characters played by her leading men, Humphrey Bogart and William Holden, Hepburn as a chauffeur's daughter is charming. This was her first introduction to Givenchy fashion onscreen, and the difference in her appearance between "Roman Holiday" and "Sabrina" is actually more startling than the one in the movie itself. It is no wonder she became such a style icon from that point forward. With his street-savvy screen persona oddly out of place within the blue-nose Long Island surroundings, Bogart comes across as rather dour in his role of older brother Linus, a role ideally pegged for Cary Grant who canceled at the last minute...damn the luck. On the other hand, Holden is hilariously breezy as shallow, ne'er-do-well younger brother David. I always wished he did more comedy during his lengthy career. The ending is inevitable, but leave it to Wilder to mix sweet and sour better than a Cantonese restaurant. The DVD also includes a brief making-of documentary.

Summary: Another Classic...
Review: Like other Audrey Hepburn movies this is a movie with a wonderful plot and wonderful actors. I loved this cute movie. Bogart and Holden played terrific parts opposite of her. If you looking for a cute, romatic comedy this is sure to be one of your favorites.
