Summary: The Matchmaker Shines on Irish Isles.
Review: This is a wonderful film for Miss Garofolo. She is her usual irascable self, only softer. The make- up and skirts are an exciting change from drab monochromatic colors seen on talk shows, et cetera. She truly reminded me of Janine Turner,of the late Northern Exposure. Plus, Ireland itself must pull anyone with one drop of Bailey's in their veins coursing through. If the locals cannot get you to stay for the ending, you haven't a heart beating. The film makes me want to be there now. As for the R rating, totally rubbish. An pg13 is fine.

Summary: The Matchmaker
Review: An excellent comedy - love story for all the family , typically Irish , love the songs and it is just so easy to watch over & over again. A good clean fun filled flick without all the usual outlandish swearing and violence. Well done to all , a big 5 Star from Oz We would all love to vist an Irish town like the one in the movie. Not available in DVD in Australia as far as I know but as soon as it is we will ad it to our library.

Summary: Commonality and humor for all
Review: Anyone can appreciate the very real interaction between Moira and Sean (ex-lovers) in this movie. In addition, The Matchmaker provides endless sarcastic humor and a great soundtrack. Don't miss it for anything (especially not Titanic)!

Summary: a very sweet comedy
Review: A wonderfully funny movie that takes place in Ireland and includes one of my favorite (and very cute!!!!)practically unknown actor Vincent Walsh who wins the singing contest on the island.

Summary: One of my favorites to watch, over and over again
Review: You won't be disappointed when you purchase this romantic irish/american comedy. The acting is superb and the story line was well thought out. A MUST!!! to see.

Summary: Charming, light, funny
Review: Well, I suppose I am very biased because I am in love with David O'Hara (haha), but I will review this movie anyway. :-) I thought that the whole thing was a really cute romantic flick. I would recommend it to any guy looking for a movie to rent for his date! Good luck, fellas!

Summary: Janine "Ugly Brown Sweater" Garofalo: Little Girl Lost.
Review: Janine Garofalo has yet to play a character that is tailor made for her, one in which she was truely meant to play. The only role that stands out in my mind is her breakout performance in Reality Bites. In Matchmaker, she seems like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. The look on her face in most of the scenes is like "What the hell am I doing in Ireland?". This is not a hip, cutting edge movie which janine belongs in. She needs to appeal to her fan base and do something more avante-garde and "important"! The Matchmaker is a "feel good movie". Janine?!? Throw us a bone here!

The scenery was lovely though.

Summary: It made me believe again that free love is out there.
Review: David O'Hara became my princ charming. What proved how honest I have been to myself saying that and how right my feeling really is, I underline that Janeane Garofalo was equally thrilling. If someone told me that they ended up together after this movie, that would make my day!

Summary: romantic and funny
Review: It's nice to see a movie where the characters look like someone you see everyday, Mr. Right isn't drop dead handsome, and Ms. Right doesn't spend every waking hour in the salon. This is a refreshing piece of work, and the scencery is beautiful (of course, it's Ireland)!!!
