Summary: GREATEST Romance Movie OF ALL TIME!
Review: I can't rave about this movie enough. It is the quintessential romance film; no other romance holds a candle to it. I would rate it as the 2nd or 3rd greatest movie of all time. It is the most believable and wickedly brilliant romance movie I have ever seen. The performances and storyline are phenomenal. To the male audience: It is impossible to watch this movie and not fall completely in love with the incredible Julie Deply. She gives off this sweet, irresistible feminine charm that intoxicated the socks off me. The only thing I didn't like about this movie was the ending; it's too sad. If it had a happy ending, then this film would have been a great feel-good movie.

Summary: Heterolove Has Never Been So Accurately Acted
Review: BEFORE SUNRISE always reminds me of the way my wife and I courted each other. The dialog is utterly perfect, as is the acting. Had Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpie married in real life, I would have understood. The story is so well told by the director that the audience itself loses track of time and truly lives the evening with the two principle characters. The closing sequence, in which the camera pans back to many of the key sites of conversation, is overwhelmingly poignant, as is the fade out as we watch the faces contemplating what has just happened. This is a film which, frame by frame, I would label perfect. It is Linklater's best so far. The poetry, romance, and bumbling awkwardness of young love has never been so lovingly portrayed in film. Watch it again and again: it holds up so well!

Summary: Inspirational, gloriously cliche-free, immensely moving.
Review: An inspiring romance, and a completely original approach to the genre, Richard Linklater's wonderful romance is a supremely touching look at two strangers, who decide to spend one perfect night in Vienna together. It's an idyllic setting for the tale, with an invigorating, naturalistic script. All this would be useless were it not for the seemingly-improvised performances of both Ethan Hawke (! ), and Julie Delpy, which are grippingly authentic and thoroughly believable. As the evening unfolds, it's impossible not to fall in love with both of them as their various anecdotes reveal their character. It's a credit to Linklater that he manages to concoct a thoroughly involving film out of what is basically two people walking and talking for 90 minutes. He also avoids cliches further by resolutely refusing to tie his narrative shoelaces. This may frustrate some, but for those with the right kind of imagination, it ends perfectly. A film about the innocence of young love, brilliantly observed, and with all the emotional upheaval of the real thing. A flawless film.

Summary: A movie that really stayed with me....
Review: "Before Sunrise" did not get a lot of attention in the theaters, so it's nice to read these reviews and know that I wasn't the only one that really loved this movie. Watching it reminded me of the summers I spent Eurailing, and the mix of people I met along the way. Somehow, this movie captured that experience perfectly. Rarely have I seen a movie which struck such a chord with me.

Summary: Ingenious!
Review: It's amazing how close I was to passing by this movie at Blockbuster. It was a treacherous day, and I needed a good movie, and I stumbled, almost literally, upon "Before Sunrise." Besides the fact that I am in love with Ethan Hawke, I found the small blurb on the back of the cover interesting, so I rented it.

I am going to agree with everyone and say that this is one of the most underrated, and unnoticed movies there is out there. I have never before heard of this movie, but it is amazing. The actors, Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy are so natural you begin to wonder if there was a script for them to memorize at all. It seemed like the director just placed the two of them in Vienna, and then followed them around with a camera crew all day and recorded their every thoughts. The acting is flawless, and you almost begin to wonder if the two young actors had an off screen thing going. Their chemistry on screen was so...wow. I don't think people in real life have such great chemistry!

This movie with only two cast members is beautiful. The script is pure genious(although I still refuse to believe the two actors even follwed a script). It is a movie that has not Hollywood-ized the plot, it wasn't sugarcoated, it was just perfect...

Summary: The best movie of all times
Review: This movie is just amazing. I've seen it like three hundred times. I like the way Jesse and Celine fall in love in Vienna, just talking and getting to know each other. Besides, it's a romantic and an intelligent film. Also, the music is beautiful. If you see this movie in a store, do not miss it, because after you watch this movie, your vision of love and travelling will change.

Summary: A Romance that All Can Relate To
Review: As many other reviews have said, this is truly one of the most underrated films of the 1990's. I saw this film on TV and taped it. I love it. I've watched it propbably two dozen times. When I first saw it, I asked all my friends if any had seen it, only to be answered with no's. When I finally met someone who had seen it, and when they loved it too, I felt like my secret was shared. Now I'd like to share that secret with you. Goddess Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke are truly fantastic. Julie is absolutely divine. The way she claimed relationships that lasted forever were "stupid" in the cafe hoping, yearning for Hawke to argue, was pure genius. The brilliancy of this film is the fact that Vienna becomes a metaphor of their relationship. The scene in the cemetary with "Elizabeth" is spellbinding. The stolen glances in the listening booth resonate every time. I recommend this movie both for any who have ever dreamed of love at first site and for those who disregard it.
