Summary: Shakespeare at his comedic best...
Review: Debatably, this is perhaps Shakespeare's greatest comedy. The combination of the hilarious scathing witticisms exchanged between Beatrice and Benedick, the "malapropatic" words of Dogberry, and the underlying beautiful theme of love make this an illustrious masterpiece. It is must-read for anyone interested in studying the Shakespearean canon for all it is worth. It is also a very understandable play; even to someone who is not experienced in deciphering the very awkward style of Elizabethan English.

Summary: Much Ado About Nothing
Review: With the reoccurring song lyric of "hey nonny, nonny," Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing have audiences humming to the tune along from beginning to end. Even the sappy, overexaggerated happiness of the characters make one desire to get up and frolic around with them in their times of dance and play. There is a lot of singing, dancing, and people walking around doing virtually. There is no wonder that all the twists of events spin from their deception and miscommunication. The performances of each character are excellent in expression and language. Branagh and Thompson take over with their (at one time) real life love affair and reflect into their characters on to screen. Although the English and American accents vary among characters, the inconsistency is not recognizable at first. Branagh's vibrant cinematography, setting of lavish gardens, costuming, and editing leaves no room to regard it. Branagh proves himself once again as a true Shakespearean prodigy.

Summary: Converting all your sounds of woe into 'Hey nonny, nonny!'
Review: This is an awesome movie. After seeing "Henry V" about a year ago, I became a fanatic Branagh fan, but then fell out of it over the course of some months because ... well, because I'm fickle. Now I'm back at it. This movie's opening scene is one of the best (in a silly way) -- I am constantly reciting that "Sigh no more" poem. I've seen this 3 times over the course of 3 days, and throughout the second 2 I've told myself at half a dozen places, "This is definitely my favorite scene." I love Benedick's orchard soliloquy (along with that great shocked look) and his subsequent fountain frolic; I love the chapel bout between Benedick and Beatrice; I love Benedick's challenge to Claudio; I love this whole movie!

Summary: Ohmigod I love this movie!
Review: I didn't really like Shakespeare at all until I first saw this movie, and now, I have to admit, I am a FANATIC about it! Kenneth Branagh really made this play come alive, and I loved him as Benedick. I would very much reccommend this movie for anyone whether you are a shakespeare fan or not!

Summary: To good for words!
Review: This movie was fantastic. I absolutly loved Kenneth Branagh (Benedick) and Emma Thompson (Beatrice) with their "Wit wars" as I call them. And the line after they realize, or tricked into realizing, that they did love each other "We are to wise to woe peacefully" just put a smile of content on my face. The actors work so well together and they really bring Shakespeare alive. I was one who thought Shakespeare was boring and didn't know how anyone could put up with it, but I saw the movie "Twelfth Night" and all that changed. I recomend that if you enjoyed "Much Ado About Nothing" that you sould see "Twelfth Night". They are both excelent movies. And if you enjoyed Kenneth Branagh you would probably like the movie "Hamlet" with Branagh as Hamlet. The only drawback is that it is four hours long, but it is well worth it.

Summary: The Best Bard Comedy in Film?
Review: This might well be the best Shakespeare comedy committed to film. Branaugh has perfectly cast this cinematic translation of a very timeless, very funny work. There is a high level of spirited energy developed by the actors, and the Beatrice and Benedick chemistry is allluring. (Makes one feel very sad that the actors real-life marriage had to hit the skids). If you love Shakespeare, and especially his comedies, this film version is mandatory for your collection.

Summary: SHAKESPEARE AS IT'S MEANT TO BE DONE
Review: Kenneth Brannagh and co have done an amazing job with 'Much Ado'. The sumptuousness of the set location (Tuscany I believe) adds to the affairs a foot (and of the heart!) brilliantly.

I really like the leather trousers the men wore - What a great idea Ken!

It was bawdy, but in a subtle way. It brought the essence of summer love to the fore.

A great movie...

Of course it is - it's Shakespare.

P.S. Buy the soundtrack it's excellent
