Summary: One of Spielberg's Masterpieces
Review: This movie is one movie that you will never forget. It's a movie that you will remember for a lifetime. The movie shows a great example of how the African slaves were treated, which was horrific, but this movie is the one that you will love for a very long time. I think that this is one of Spielberg's greatest achievements.

Summary: This is one of Spielberg's greatest films ever made
Review: This movie is one of the best movies I have ever seen. This movie will get you to the heart. It's legendary, full of life, and very well-acted. Anthony Hopkins does a great job playing John Quincy Adams.

Summary: Steven Spielburg's absolute best film!
Review: This is the best movie that has been made in many years. Every scene, every image was done so perfectly that it is mesmerizing. I just love the part where that guy has the bible and he looks up at the ship and the masts look like crosses and its just like they are being crucified for their cause. The extreme talent that went into this movie is amazing.

Summary: Told too much from the white point of view
Review: Until the scene where Honsou describes his life beginning in Africa and leading up to the attack, we really never get to see a true African perspective. Surely, with African and American bi-lingual and bi-culturalists, we could have seen more of Cinque's life up to being captured. We have seen far too many movies about Africans life in America as if that when blacks truly came to exist. That scene is the only one to date that truly shows that in Africa, we had lives and hopes and dreams and families but we were cruelly sold and stolen and forced to live a less than human existence. I think that scence belonged before the actual mutiny scene so that people could see how awful it would be to be ripped from everything you know to go to sights unseen and destinies unknown. It would make you feel that Cinque and his crew were hereos, not murderers. I could have forgiven this film had it been produced before we became a global society but the film acted like we still haven't gotten past our language and cultural barriers and had to show it from the only perspective from which we share a language. The only compelling scene is when Dijon Honsou stands up and says, "Give us Free" as if he could care less about the court system and would gladly take his own freedom if it weren't given freely. It also appealed to the court audiences' and our own sense of humanity, that you cannot do to people what was done to Africans and expect them to have responded any differently. Freedom is a cherished state of being. Honsou was the true star in this movie and hope to see more of him.

Summary: powerful, moving drama
Review: Amistad (in my opinion) is Steven Spielberg's second best movie behind only Saving Private Ryan. No movie can compare to Saving Private Ryan. The acting in Amistad was superb. I can't believe it wasn't oscar nominated for best picture, best director, or best actor. Djimon Honsou deserved an academy award for his performance as Cinque. Anthony Hopkins was good as former president John Quincy Adams, but he's had better performances in the past. Overall, a much better movie than the film that won best picture of that year, Titanic.

Summary: I THINK THAT AMISTAD IS A LONG TIME COMING
Review: I THINK THAT EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS MOVIE REGARDLESS OF WHAT NATIONALITY YOU ARE. THIS MOVIE DETAILS THE TRUE HORROR THAT AFRICAN AMERICANS WENT THROUGH AT A TIME WHEN NO ONE WAS WILLING TO TAKE A STAND AGAINST SLAVERY. THE MOVIE WAS A TRUE EYE OPENER TO WHAT AMERICA WANTS US TO FORGET.

Summary: Breathtaking, Heartstopping, Amazingly Wonderful Film
Review: I admit I have watched many films, and I have been trying so hard to find one that was worth watching. This film fits this description. This is the best movie I have EVER seen. The actors are tremendously superb in their roles. I especialy enjoyed everyone's perfomances. This should have won Best Picture for the Oscars. Even though it wasn't, I really enjoyed it anyway. The presentation of slavery really moved me, including one scene when Africans are being whipped. The scenes are so graphic, which gave people a real view on what slaves went through. It was so terrible how these people were treated, that it cannot be described. Yet, this movie deserves five stars, and as my title says, it is a breathtaking, heartstopping, and amazingly wonderful film.
