Summary: First Rate - One of Spike Lee's Best
Review: There have been many engaging and watchable biography movies, but most biography movies are flawed and never quite achieve the what I would consider greatness as a film. Malcolm X is the exception. This is both a totally egaging biographical story of a great and complicated man's epic life AND a great film. Spike Lee is in top form here. For that matter, so is Washington, who is absolutely convincing as Malcolm X, as if he has channelled Malcolm's spirit. In fact, Lee brings career-best performances out of a lot of actors in this film. Don't miss it.

Summary: All I can say is, it was a very well made film.
Review: Malcolm X was a great man who influenced millions through his teachings and words. This film does him justice, beautifully acted with a witty and intelligent screenplay - this is a must see for anyone. The ending is most tender with Nelson Mandela telling the next generation about Mr.X and how he taught our society to be more humane towards others. When the credits started to roll I felt all warm and teary eyed, evidence for a perfect film.

Summary: don't think, buy it!
Review: Malcom is part of our countries history just like Abe Lincoln or Martin Luther King or JFK. It is a must see movie! If you're a history buff, go get it; if you're not, go get it anyway! This beautiful, normatic movie about a great man is a contribution to everyone's movie collection!

Summary: A "must see video"
Review: Malcom X is the best movie I've ever seen. I don't know why no Oscar. It's no comment about Denzel's amazing performance. I think everybody must watch to understand the real Malcom's (and afro-american) history. Definitively, a brilliant work!

Summary: Inacurate movie about horrible man
Review: Malcolm X was not a civil rights leader. He was a terririst. He regulary encouraged the murder of people who weren't black. If he could have, he would have killed every non-black on Earth. I don't beleive that people would ever pay for this trash.

Summary: Xceptional
Review: Why did Denzel miss out on an acadamy award for this film is one great mystery to me. His mannerisms, speech and passion is pure Malcolm. And his likeness to Malcolm is uncanny.

A gripping film which is inspirational and confronts all Americans to the reality of racism during those turbulent times. A special visit by none other than Nelson Mandella at the end was surprising and very fitting.

This is a classic drama which you will surely love as much as I did.

Summary: Absolutely Incredible
Review: I was totally surprised by this film. I had never been a spike lee fan, though I always appreciated his talent, but this film definitely changed my mind. I don't really know where to start, because in my mind, the film is nearly flawless: from Denzel Washington's amazing performance to an ambitious script to Spike Lee's incredible direction (of course putting Oliver Stone to shame in the realm of political biographies). My only complaint involves the ending of the film: a clever but preachy montage of images and voice-over narration that really softens what could have been a tremendous impact at the end. Of course, these are petty complaints. Buy the movie!

Summary: HILLARIOUS!
Review: Sure, this movie has it's dramatic points, but it really kicks into gear when Malcolm goes to prison. There he meets Banes, a Muslim con who schools Malcolm about being black in America. Banes's speach about not eating pork never fails to induce hysterical laughter. (Paraphrase: "Your Mama was Right! The pig is a filthy beast! Part RAT, part CAT, part KANGAROO, etc.")

Despite being prisoners, Banes and X seem to have the run of the joint. There many seens of the two by themselves inside the prison with no guards around anywhere.

The final joke comes at the end of the movie. Spike spends two hours charting Malcolm's progress from hating whites to realizing that all whites are not evil. Yet at the end Lee has a bunch of black school kids yell, "I'm Malcolm!". No white kid, apparently, can "be" Malcolm.

Summary: One of the Great Screen Biographies
Review: This is one of the movies' greatest biographies. An extremely well made and moving film, with a performance by Denzel Washington that has to be seen to be believed. Shatters common ideas of who Malcolm X was and what he stood for, by showing how a man can evolve over a lifetime. In my opinion this is such a moving film, that a person needs to be careful of anyone who says they didn't like it or "get" it.
