Summary: Smells worse than a cargo hold of rotting fish.
Review: To quote Kevin Kline in "Fish Called Wanda", "DISAPPOINTED!". Hollywood took one of the most gripping novels of recent history and turned it into a loose collection of bad music videos. It was a joke, a hackneyed, no punch line told by your least favorite uncle, pull my finger kind of joke. The "Making of..." video was far more interesting. Watch that instead. Oh yeah..."Beware the Flemish Cap". too. BWAHAHAHA The Perfect BLEECHH!

Summary: GREAT MOVIE
Review: Did you know that this movie is based on a *true* story? This terrible storm really happened to theses people, which makes 'The Perfect Storm' unique and emotional. Not many movies based on a true story are this good. I left the theater crying for the people that this happened to. It made me feel refreshed to see this movie and learn about the fishermen and what happened to them.

First of all, George Clooney and Mark Whalberg were excellent, as well as the rest of the cast! It must be hard work to act like one of those fishermen. Actually, one of my favorite parts of the movie was seeing how these fishermen lived their lives and acted around each other, it was fascinating!

The special effects were pretty impressive! The storm recreation was so good that it made you feel like you were really in the storm and experiencing what they experienced. That is defintely the sign of a well made film.

The DVD extras are great! 'The Perfect Storm' is an essential to any DVD collection. You won't be wasting your time or your money if you buy this DVD!

Summary: The "perfect" example of a waste of money...
Review: This movie is full of one-liners. Like all movies of this type, there are too many slow-motion, loud music shots to make a seemingly meaningless scene appear to be a focal point in the film [remember when they were walking on the dock to the boat? How glamorous is that???]. Basically I felt the same thing about this as I did films like Armageddon and Pearl Harbor; one-liners are great for about 10 minutes, but not for the whole movie.

Summary: Touching and realistic--Wonderfully crafted film
Review: This movie would only be considered boring by those who enjoy seeing only senseless violence in a film. This movie is touching and realistic and just plain wonderful. It shows the development of many truly complex and easy-to-relate-to characters who capture your heart and make you see life through their eyes throughout the entire film. It also shows the importance of money and pride within our world and while the movie may not be perfect it definitely gives a five-star performance. Wondefully directed and written, this movie is worth every penny and every second of your time.

Summary: Very Sad Movie
Review: Just finshed watching The Perfect Storm and I must say it is a great movie it is about a group of fishermen tring to catch fish while contending a hurricane in the process. The movie stars George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg who both give great proformances. The movie is a tear jerker so if you are in the mood to cry or a great action movie you need to see this film. I loved it.

Summary: Poorly Executed Concept
Review: Use of the phrase 'based upon event xyz' is a phrase that should be used very cautiously. I can understand why "Titanic" the movie was based upon the event -- it was as faithful to the events as the director could make it. Obviously some details had to be estimated, but over all ... they tried.

This movie is so far removed from the events that transpired that it is 'inspired' by a true story, but so many details were added for no reason other than time-filler that it is ludicrous.

The story is at times touching, but is done so to make the ending that much more upsetting. There is no other reason. I found this to be so evident that the eventual demise of the 'good-guys' wasn't as traumatic as the director perhaps had hoped.

This movie is a poorly over-acted overdramatic cesspool of pseudo-entertainment. The only saving grace is that the special effects are top-notch. If you enjoy leaving a movie with the feeling of "There are two hours of my life I will never get back" then this movie is for you.

Summary: Based on a TRUE STORY....
Review: Do those words above click on a light in your brains? THE PERFECT STORM is the perfect action flick. And it's based on a true story...not fiction!! (So if the true story was predictable, wouldn't the film be the same way, too?) It's also based on the bestselling novel (the same title) by Sebastian Junger. The book is just as excellent as the movie, by the way.

But anyways, getting back to the movie, it's about a group of fishermen on the Andrea Gail who end up making another unexpected trip out into the Atlantic to catch more fish so they can hopefully earn more money. It is engrossing from the very beginning to the end, but when the Andrea Gail hits smack center in the middle of the most fierce storm in recorded history is when the real excitment begins! Now it's the Andrea Gail and her passengers against nature - a fight that will last 'til death!

THE PERFECT STORM stars Geroge Clooney as Captain Billy and Mark Wahlberg as Bobby Shatford. And it is directed by Wolfgang Petersen. The special effects are so stunning that you won't believe you're eyes!

If you love action/adventure films, then THE PERFECT STORM is for you! I personally loved this film and don't see why it got so many negative reviews. Maybe the people who gave this film negative reviews aren't into this kind of film or weren't paying attention. And who could call this BORING?! The acting by the entire cast is absolutely superb. Definitely an A+ and I recommend THE PERFECT STORM to anybody!

Summary: Mediocre
Review: After watching this movie I kept asking "Why? Why did I allow myself to watch this movie knowing that outcome?" The special effects are OK and the characters are OK too. As for the plot, well let's just say I ain't to happy with any story that makes me like a character - or group of characters in this case - that .... - I tell you this so that you can save a couple hours of your life and watch a more cheerful movie. If you can get beyond the outcome I guess you'll enjoy this film better that I did.
