Summary: The world belongs to Bond
Review: GoldenEye is quite simply the best 007 film ever made. In terms of plot realism, villains and action, it stands out against the rest. The film sees James Bond take on his former best friend Alec Trevelyn, otherwise known as agent 006, who plans to seek revenge on the world for the loss of his parents through the use of the deadly GoldenEye satellite. Trevelyn is THE best Bond villain ever, and has not been matched since- he knows Bond back to front, and proves that he is a more than worthy adversary (unlike certain other Bond villains, not mentioning any names). Some may believe the plot is a little far- fetched, but such satellites do actually exist in the real world. Other villains such as USSR General Ouromov and Xenia Onatopp provide endless excuses for Bond to blow things up, which of course he does in style, and within numerous locations including St. Petersburg, Russia; Havanna, Cuba; and England (watch out for the scene where Bond drives a fully armed tank through the streets of St. Petersburg!). This time, the Bond girl is Natalya Simonova, a computer programmer who knows who plans to use the GoldenEye and how to disarm it. She inevitably falls for Bond's charms. And as for Pierce Brosnan, he blows the audience away as he takes on the role for the very first time, and proves that he has the ability to compete with even the likes of Sean Connery himself when playing Commander James Bond. Again, this is the very best James Bond film to date, even better than the new Die Another Day, which was quite frankly very ordinary. If you are a 007 fan, look no further than this film- it put the Bond franchise back on its feet, and showed us that after forty-or-so years he still has the ability to keep us shaken and stirred.

Summary: It is invincible!!
Review: This was the very first James Bond movie I ever saw. Thus, I have grown an appreciation of the series, simply because this one was so good.The action scenes are splendid. There are many great stunts involved, including a bungee jump, and a freefall to catch a crashing airplane. The story line is also enjoyable. It is easy to understand, and has a good range of characters. The characters themselves are well developed; the conflict between Bond and his old friend, Trevelyen, is a complex mix of love and hate. This same love/hate theme also runs in Xenia's character, who strangles her...aquaintences...like a squid. There are also numerous other characters in the film that add other elements to the story, ranging from a morbid dreariness to a lighthearted merriment. The movie's style is a landmark to the Bond series. It entails the same old elements of previous films (exotic locations, exotic women, casino scenes, etc.), but also presents new elements in its characters, action, and themes. The movie represents the change of the world itself since the fall of the Soviet Union: it's a completely new Bond in a completely new territory, where old enemies are friends and old friends are enemies. There are interesting motifs of this theme, such as the statue park scene, where the relics of old Soviet statues are discarded. Even the music of the film is different. Tina Turner's title song is powerful, and Eric Serra's bizzare score is unique. It's a good action film with interestingly deep political implications. That is why I consider this to be one of my favourite Bond films (the only other rival is The World is Not Enough. Between the two, I can never tell which is the best).

Summary: THE WORST OF THE BOND FILMS!
Review: Although it has some great action sequences and some fine-looking Bond women, this entry is the worst. I liked it in theaters, but its very dull. Skip this one. "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "The World is Not Enough" are better, Grade: C-

Summary: Bond for the 90's -- and Beyond!
Review: This movie was my return to the world of James Bond after a brief hiatus, and it was certainly nice to be back. The movie's
visuals alone are an adequate reason to give "Goldeneye" a look... Russia looks cold, physical tension looks sweaty, and you'll flinch at every bullet near-miss. The title song does not disappoint, with nifty lyrics by Bono of U2, if I'm not mistaken.
Of all the older films and even the newer Bond films that succeeded it, it still stands alone as simply a great film to look at. I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed a more down-to-Earth villain (a former double-o agent) that is a true field commander, matching Bond in both physical and mental strength, rather than sitting back and pressing buttons. The music is a nice update into 90's electronic-enhanced tunes, though Bond fans
may miss the mix of electronic music and orchestra arrangements that was hinted at by John Barry in "The Living Daylights", and
taken into the next century by David Arnold. It's a bit funkier
than we are all used to, but still aids the action adequately.
But, hey? Why complain? Make it a part of your collection, and enjoy the world of Bond again in your own home. You'll realize
how much you loved movies all over again! -KS

Summary: Good, But Certainly Not the Best
Review: Pierce Brosnan's acting in his first movie may not be as good as in his more recent ones, but he does a pretty good job. The villain is rather good. Even the plot is pretty good. The only complaint I have (and this is a huge one, folks) is that the soundtrack is the worst of all of the James Bond movies. Needless to say, the song isn't the best we've heard, but suffice to say that there are some that are worse (Back in 1983 they released a song so unbelievably awful that in some countries it is a national day of mourning, and I am not referring to All Time High). But the score is atrocious! Eric Serra composer of such 'masterpieces' as The Fifth Element? Goldeneye was almost ruined. Where did the theme go? A James Bond movie cannot survive with a score that has no James Bond theme and relies solely upon percussion tinks for action music! Thank God for Tomorrow Never Dies...
But, overlooking the frighteningly disgustingly atrocious music (and I know how hard that is), this is a pretty good Bond. Lets hope Eric Serra doesn't come back to this franchise.

Summary: A great movie, but missing one small thing in an action flic
Review: This is a great action movie, with a great plot and special effects. But the only reason that i gave it a 4 is because it was missing a good 2nd action scene to get ya hooked to it. It has 3 main action sequences, the facility battle, the archives/st.petersburg tank chase, and the satellite base battle. Most movies have a second action scene to get them against the bad guys of the movie. We won't really recognize a villain until about more than an hour into the movie, when bond starts fighting. Tomorrow never dies had 5 main action scenes, the intro fight, the complex shootout, the car chase, the motorcycle chase, and the end battle. the car chase and the complex shoot-out is what every movie needs to introduce the bad guys and everything. In goldeneye, you see the facility intro, then u hav eto wait another hour until another action scene graces the screen. IF they would've only wrote in a way where bond was at the Bunker complex, so he would know that orumoz and Xenia were the bad guys, and no one would believe them. it would also be a thrilling action sequence, with natyla and james escaping form the blast and fighting orumoz and Xenia. what s shame

Summary: Brosnan in the role he was born to play !
Review: I have no problem with Timothy Dalton's interpretation of Bond but in all fairness, it simply can't compare to Brosnan's. It's not a matter of who the best actor is, I simply believe Pierce Brosnan was born to play James Bond and he will be the thoughest one to substitute once he leaves the role.
By the way, Goldeneye is pretty good. The pre-title sequence is one of the very best in a series with the most incredible ones.

Review: Goldeneye is one of the best Bonds. It has a great Bond actor Pierce Brosnan. It also has one of the strongest villians being Alec Trevelyn aka 006. It has a great story to it that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I love the begining at the chemical weapons facility. The chase with the tank is awesome. If you are looking for a good action packed Bond adventure that goes back to what made the Connery movies so great this is the movie for you.

Summary: Awesome! Great Bond Film!
Review: From the very begggining, it is clear that Goldeneye is gonna one heck of a film! It starts up with a spectacular stunt (Bond bungee jumps from the top of a nearly 600 feet high dam), smoothley moves along for two extremely exciting action scenes, and then wraps it up with another big stunt (where Bond jumps off a cliff to catch up with a speeding plane. After the typical Bond song (this one particularly good) the main story starts up. Bond is sent to find out who stole the Goldeneye, a super advanced little thing that sets up an electronic surge in space to cause explosions on Earth-BIG ONES. Bond has to deal with several big villians, among them General Auromouv, Xenia Onnatop, and an old friend. Also after him is a whole squad of Russian soldiers with machine guns. He teams with the sexy Natalya Symyonova to discover Goldeneye and destroy it! This is a great movie. Don't be fooled by the nay-sayers who have this strange hate for Brosnan,like my buddy Brett michael Roberts, who hates Brosnan for no reason (but he writes good reviews), because he sure does do fabulous in this, but I feel his best performance is in The World Is Not Enough (1999). Also don't be fooled by the bad Brosnan film Tomorrow Never Dies, possibly the worst Bond film ever made. That one didn't display how great a Brosnan bond movie can be, which this (and The World Is Not Enough) displays completely. There's tight direction, awesome performances, and I'm such a lazy moron that I'm gonna finish my review here.
