Summary: Keeps you guessing!
Review: A movie with just enough action, and a spice of romance, to keep both the guys and their lady friends involved in the story. My favorite character was the young FBI Agent investigating his first bank robbery. And I liked the chemistry between the two main characters, James Spader and Leslie Stefanson. (A lady's perspective, but hey, it made watching an action thriller more interesting!).

Summary: Excellent low-budget fare
Review: Here is an excellent low-budget film produced in Canada with a couple stars and more plot twists and turns than a West Virginia road.

The real star of this flick is producer-director Rowdy Herrington, the director of "Gladiator" and "Bobby Jones". "The Stickup" has one of the most intelligent and involving scripts I've ever seen in a low-budget film. The direction is also first rate with all the players pulling off their roles intelligently and credibly.

There is hardly a cliche or nitwit character to be found in this well crafted mystery about theft, betrayal and absolution. The morality play is small potatoes in this little actioner, which deserves a larger audience. It most reminds me of the early Coen brothers' "Blood Simple" and John Carpernter's "Assault on Precinct 13" (recently remade with a lot of stars), two movies that started important long lasting film careers.

I see big budget Hollywood flicks every day that can't hold a candle to this little movie. It appears Herrington didn't have much of a budget to work with up there in Canada, where the dollar buys more than in Los Angeles, but he made the most of it. He also coaxed good performances from his principal players and produced an interesting drama.

This movie may start slowly but it will keep you guessing throughout its 90 minutes. If you like crime dramas or action flicks, this movie is for you.

Summary: Lots of twists and turns.
Review: I highly recommend this movie and think anyone who enjoys a good old fashioned action/adventure film with LOTS of twists and turns will enjoy this film. The acting was good all around and the story flowed along nicely. I never lost interest from start to finish. Go get it!

Summary: A fun and witty thrill ride!
Review: I stumbled upon this little film while browsing the shelves of the local video store. I love James Spader so I picked it up.

This was a surprisingly tight film, easily better than half the films that I have to pay $8 bucks to see in the nearest cineplex.

James Spader, as always, brings up the level of anything he's in.

Take a chance on a small, "Memento" like thriller. You'll be happy that you did.

Summary: the stickup
Review: I thought it was very entertaining with plenty of plot twists. James Spader is always very good and Leslie Stephanson was a good match for his character with great chemistry. I hope we see a lot more of her in movies to come. Although, the movie was predictable at times, it kept me entertained throughout and was definitely worth seeing.

Summary: Stickup is a first class movie
Review: I wonder why Stickup has not been released in the movie theatres in Canada cause it would do well.
I am also having a hard time to buy the Video I have only managed to get one from Reggie records through this site and it says there are no more.
They will have to make some more copies to sell or are they holding James Spader and costar Leslie back on there fame.
This is a great movie it has action,Beautiful British Columbia,Canada Mountain scenery, suspense,Romance, realistic story line and great actor lines, and what I like best to make a movie rating, a great ending that leaves you feeling good.

Summary: Minus 10 stars! What a lousy lousy movie!
Review: Just finished watching this lousy movie. So bad, so unwatchable! Have to use Fast Forward to get to the end. The screenplay writer should be forever banned from writing one more of this kind braindead .... It's a shame to waste Spade and the other guy who played the divorced cop in the small town, since they are both supposed to be good actors. Jesus, what a horrible movie. Don't waste money and time on this ... movie.

Summary: Great Plot Twist/Fine Acting but oh soo low budget
Review: Kind of in the genre of movies like Memento and Mulholland Drive that deliberately set out to mislead the mind but not quite as complicated so that you feel you should have been able to have caught on a little sooner if you had only paid more attention - see if you can if you do watch. The witty dialogue between James Spader and female lead Leslie Stefanson is full of sparks that makes this a nice gem. The reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is entirely due to the low budget cinematography, otherwise its miles better than the [stuff] that usually gets top billing these days.
