Summary: The Sopranos meet goodfellas
Review: Knockaround Guys, which is a smart movie about dumb guys: four pampered mobster sons desperate to prove themselves The film begins slowly, as yet another telling of the mob son trying to live up to his father's expectations. Barry Pepper (Saving Private Ryan) the son of Brooklyn gangster Benny Chains (Dennis Hopper) His father doesn't respect him, and neither does his Uncle Teddy (John Malkovich) because he failed a test of family honour at age 13. But Matty can't get a respectable job outside the mob, because the family name is feared. This is a fun summer gangster movie There are lots of elements that are retreads from other gangster films, but enough surprises and talented actors who manage to make it fresh

Review: ok so these days he would attract the audiences on his own but this isnt as well known as xxx or the fast and the furious, but it is still a good movies, and its a shame that it isnt as well known as it deserves some respect although not the best film in it's genre still well acted and directed and a decent storyline

Summary: Worth it...
Review: okay.. this movie doesn't have the best storyline... or the best actng in it. John Malkovich was a bit of a disapointment. Vin Diesel's acting skills still haven't reached quite the level of being deemed as a good actor but nonetheless Vin Diesel still has a paticular charm and charisma to him. Bottom line is that if you like mob movies then it's definetly an entertaining film i thought it was very good.. lots of twists, comdeic moments, and just ovrerall entertaining. If you LOVE mob movies you might want to steer clear of this one because it's no goodfellas, godfather, or casino... and you might get all sensitive and insulted... But overall I thought this movie had something that movies today lack... check it out

Summary: Knockaround Guys
Review: I went to this movie with a little trepidation, considering that the trailer just didn't do it a lot of justice. It was more or less a case of this being the best choice of what was available at the theater. What I thought would be a mediocre film, turned out to be a very good film starring a couple of today's best young actors, Barry Pepper and Vin Diesel.

The premise: "Knockaround Guys" is a wonderful story about four young, second generation mobsters. Most of them have grown up in the shadows of there fathers who think that they are not capable of anything more than being delivery men. That is of course, with the exception of Vin Diesel's character who just likes to fight. Barry Pepper's father, played by Dennis Hopper, especially doesn't feel he's capable of going very far in the business. In an attempt to prove his mettle to his father, he persuades him into letting him run an operation. He's allowed to do so and immediately screws it up by relying on one of his other friends, who, in essence is a screw up and completely blows it. Barry Pepper and the rest of the mobsters all get in a plane and fly to nowhere where his other friend lost the "item." From there, we have a wonderful and intriguing movie, which displays how good some of today's movie stars can be.

While not being "Goodfellas," this is one of the better "mob" films to come out in quite some time. I would definitely recommend that you see this film.

Summary: The MOB Squad...
Review: Matty (Barry Pepper) was never the mob type, despite the fact that he is the son of a powerful mob underboss (Dennis Hopper). Unfortunately, Matty can't find a legit job because of his father's reputation so, in giving up on trying to live a normal life, he decides to plead his way into the business by convincing his reluctant father to let him handle a simple job: pick up a duffel bag containing half a million dollars and transport it back across state lines.

When Matty calls on a close friend (Seth Green), who happens to be both a pilot and a recovering coke junkie, to pick up the cash, what should have been an easy job quickly turns into a nightmare: the money disappears while he is stopped at a small country airport to refuel.

Desperate to prove himself, Matty calls on two trusted friends (Vin Diesel and Andrew Davoli) to help him find and recover the money. When the money finds its way into the hands of the local sheriff, the would-be mobsters find themselves in a brutal stand-off with a corrupt sheriff, his deputy and other country bad guys who don't like mobsters much and are willing to go to any lengths to keep the money.

With the stakes rising, Matty and his friends must decide how far they are willing to go to complete this job. Screwing the mafia is a dangerous game and the situation quickly escalates to a matter of survival when the mafia dispatches its own crew to take care of business.

Summary: Refreshing!
Review: Loved this movie for everything it didn't have. No explosions.
No whining girlfriends. No slo-mo kickboxing. Plus Malkovich
and Hopper were kept under control.

Vin Diesel was very good and Barry Pepper's a living doll.

Summary: Loved this movie
Review: I thought this was a really good, small movie. Lots of good interactions with the characters, especially Vin Diesel and Barry Pepper, as best buddies. You could see the caring there, and that was really interesting - the male friendship. There is one scene in the motel room that I really loved when they were talking about Barry's character's father, played by Dennis Hopper.

The story was fun and absurd, which I liked. And, the setting, seeing these Brooklyn guys out in the sticks totally out of their element was really cool.

Summary: Non c'e male.....
Review: I've seen quite a few mob movies, good and bad, and although I'd rate this among the good, it's not quite a stand-out movie. It was a fun movie, contained good action, but suffered from a few faults. Seth Green is not someone I'd envision to be a runner for the mob (although he does provide some decent comic relief), and John Malkovich, while being a "unique" actor, can't pull off a convincing Brooklyn/Italian accent to save his life. And Barry Pepper getting the tar kicked out of him by an aging sheriff? Now what kind of underboss would raise his son to be such a wimp? Good thing Vin Diesel was there to back him up, otherwise he'd have been applesauce :)
Anyways, good flick, worth the money, but not quite a "Donnie Brasco" (then again, there's no Pacino here, either).
