Summary: Ultimately, you've got to like this movie!
Review: It's the flick that put Wesley Snipes on the map, started Ice-T's serious acting career, and first showcased Allen Payne (of "Jason's Lyric"). Plus, it has the best urban soundtrack EVER.

But does it glorify drug dealers? If you think so, you missed the point of the whole movie.

Summary: The best urban gangster movie ever made
Review: New Jack City was released in 91 and went on to become a smash-hit at the box office. The film is basically the violent story of drug lord Nino Brown's rise and fall. Wesley Snipes is unbeleivable as Nino. His performance is charismatic and very convincing. Rapper Ice-T stars as the cop determined to bring Nino down. This was Ice-T's first starring role and he was great in his role. Ice gives the performance of his career. Infact the only thing that detracts from the movie is Judd Nelson's performance. I feel he was pretty wooden in his role as Ice's partner and his acting was quite inept. That doen't stop this film from being undoubtedly the best gang movie ever made. You have to see this film just to see how powerful it is. It will leave you with an amzed expression on your face. I recommend this film to anyone who wants to see a good, well-made film, or definitely to fans of Ice-T and Snipes.

Summary: Hard hitting. A real modern day scarface.
Review: Nino Brown is a smart, rich, charismatic drug dealer. A newjack group of cops are needed to infiltrate and bring down the notorius C.M.B. aka "Cash Money Brothers". Snipes plays the part well. Ice T brings a hip-hop flavor to an otherwise traditional stereotype of cops.

Summary: A good movie
Review: Not a bad movie at all... Ice-T plays this role convincingly. Judd Nelson seems to be out of place, but Mario Van Peebles does a good job as well. Wesley Snipes is what pulls this movie together, however. His protrayal of Nino Brown is convincing. I think if Judd Nelson would've had a bigger role in this movie as being more than Ice-T's sidekick, this would be a 4 1/2 star movie.

Summary: ALOTTA FUN
Review: Now I don't ignore the fact that at times this a serious and dark
movie with the junkie played by Chris Rock(believable and scary)
and other mentions of crack babys. But this movie is entertaining
the whole way through.I loved Judd Nelson and Ice-T was great and
Wesley Snipes was a modern day Tony Montana.Comparisons to Scar-
Face are made in reviews but they're really not that much alike
this is no 3 hour long epic about one man. It's about cops dedicatd to stoping the crack(cmb)gang and ridding the streets of
drugs. It's fun to watch the shoot-outs between cmb and the mob
also the cop's pull some dirty moves on cmb as well.Good movie
all around.Despite what people say this is not an anti-drug movie
but a basic action cop's and bad guys movie with the usual gung-
ho cops and ruthless ammoral bad guy all played well by the actors.I couldn't get enough.

Summary: After all these years...
Review: of being angry at weak gang movies, like Belly, and state property, I realy didn't know what to expect when I saw this last year, when my brother brought it over. I was hoping it didn't turn out to be a horrible black crime movie, and tank God it wasn't. Wesley Snipes plays Neno Borwn, who's just Undeniebly one of the evilest characters in movie history. This guy doesnt' care who he sells dope to, kids, wemon, his boys, as long as he's sitting on a pile of money, and having the world in his hands. It also has Ice-T, who does real good in this this movie, so far his best performance, you got Allen Payne, playing Neno browns brother G-Money, and Chris Rock, in one of his early, less comidec films, as pookie, a crackhead. Well this movie does deliver some messages, and some good ol' shootouts. This and King of New York are my favorite black crime movies. They may not be another Scarface, but there the only black movies that can come close to it. So if you like Scarface, go check this out, and if you love Movies like Belly or State Property, this will make you forget about them, and throw em' in the garbage.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: New Jack City owes a lot to King of New York.
Review: Same city, same premise. Only this time, Wesley Snipes is the cold-blooded gangster, not the hero cop. Was Judd Nelson necessary to the movie?

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Pure Formula Actioner
Review: The story about a prominent, handsome drug dealer and a determined cop who's out to catch him in NYC's underworld. Some good performances, mainly by Snipes, but it's all fairly routine. Ambitious flick badly in need of more conviction and less shallowness.
