Summary: Great movie poor picture
Review: This is a great movie one of my favorites but the new dvd claims (newly remasterd) well it's anything but. the picture quality is so bad that I found myself fooling around with my brightnes,contrast and color controls almost the whole movie. my old laserdisk version has far better picture quality. artisan needs to learn how to remaster movies.

Summary: Brutal , Vulgar and Violent
Review: There are some who've been told that this is an awesome movie. But with Harvey Keitel and all this profanity and vulgarity and violence, the truth is this movie ranks below the belows. In spite of its intensity, it's a brutal depiction of characters who are despicable and have no redeeming social qualities. The actors represent unregenerates, and it's no surprise at the end that the movie ends in such a depressing way. Groundbreaking film making it is not. This movie is despicable, like its characters, and it causes one to wonder about the human condition.

Summary: One Hell of a Movie! The New DVD is Amazing!!!!
Review: "Reservoir Dogs" is another one of my favorite movies. Despite what critics think, this is a Tarantino masterpiece with unforgettable characters, smooth and cool dialogue, and a shocking finale.I had the older version of this movie on DVD, and it was all right. The picture wasn't too bad, sound was so-so, and there were virtually no special features. So when I found out that a new remastered and fully-loaded version of the movie was coming out, I knew I had to have it. And I am very glad that I did purchase it. Since this is a crime flick, the plot and storyline isn't that complex or deep, and there is no reason for it to be. It's pretty simple. Perfect strangers plan the perfect crime, but end up in a bloody set-up. With only four of them left alive, they must uncover the rat in the house. But which one is it? That is something they must find out before the cops get a hold of them in this unforgiving and spectacular crime/noir movie. The writing is off the hook. Tarantino is a master when it comes to dialogue. Why? Because the characters talk like real people. In ordinary movies, all the characters ever talk about it the plot or scheme. In THIS movie, they talk about everyday normal things that we would talk about, which makes them seem more realistic and convincing. His writing reminds me a lot of Raymond Carver, except with more humor. The cast is terrific. Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Chris Penn, Lawrence Tierney, and Steve Buscemi all did their roles justice. Michael Madsen is awesome and cool as Mr. Blonde, who will always be remembered for that very particular role. Buscemi is hillarious, and your eyes never leave his sight when he's on screen. But really, everyone is outstanding in this movie. The DVD itself is very high quality, including two disks. The picture is remastered in high definition, which really makes it clear. Ten times better than the other version. You can either watch in widescreen or in fullscreen. The sound is also much, MUCH better. You can watch it in dolby digital or in DTS. Considering that this was a really low-budget film, the movie looks and sounds amazing. You will especially appreciate it if you had the previous DVD of the movie. And there are tons and TONS of extras that will keep you more than happy. Way too many for me to list, but the ones I liked the most were the interviews. (Watch the one with Michael Madsen. That has to be one of the funniest interviews I have ever seen. Just trust me and watch it! I don't want to give too much away.) So, if you are a big fan of bells and whistles, this DVD is the one for you. You will not be disappointed. "Reservoir Dogs" is a classic, whether people like it or not. Don't let anyone over-hype this movie for you if you have not seen it. Just watch it like you would with any normal movie, and you'll do fine. I have the same problem with many when it comes to over-hyping movies. It happens. Overall, I was more than pleased with this edition of "Reservoir Dogs." I did not mind re-buying it at all. If you still have the original DVD and love this movie very much, GET THIS ONE AS SOON AS YOU CAN! You will not regret it. This is one of my favorites, and proves just how talented Quentin Tarantino is when it comes to writing and directing.

Summary: Classic Crime Comedy
Review: Not too many pepole think Resevoir Dogs is funny. But I do. Quentin Tarantino opened the floodgate for crime movies, but there's no other movie that can match. Joe (the boss) found 5 criminals to rob a jewerly store and steal this diamond. He named them all color coded names- Mr.Blond, Mr.Pink, Mr.White, Mr.Brown, and Mr.Orange, because no one was supposed to know they're real names. Alot of problems occur while robbing the store. The cops were misteriously watching the place, and showed up 30 seconds after the alarm went off. Mr.Orange got shot, leaving Mr.White to take care of him. Mr.Blond set off the alarm and shot the store clerk. Mr.Brown was shot and died. All the others got away. Mr.White and Mr.Orange got to the warehouse (they're hiding place I guess) first. Then Mr.Pink showed up, then Mr.Blond. They all talk about what happened at the store and realize that someone is a nark. Mr.Blond has a cop in his car then brings him in the warehouse. Mr.White and Mr.Pink leave to do whatever it is. Then Mr.Brown slices up the cop's face, then wraps his head in duct tape, cuts off his ear, and pours gas on him. Then Mr.Blond dances to "Stuck in the Middle with You", goes to light a match, and Mr.Orange shoots him. Mr.Orange is the pig, he told the other cops what was going on that day at the jewerly store. Every one shows up at the ware house including Joe, Nice Guy Eddie (Joe's son) Mr.Pink, and Mr.White. They all start arguing, then pull guns on each other. Mr.White pulled a gun on Joe, Eddie points his gun at Mr.White, and Mr.Pink pulls his on Eddie. They shoot each other. Every one's dead, and Mr.Pink had the diamond.
My favorite charactes are Mr.Blond and Mr.Pink. Mr.Blond is really mellow and just chills, not getting [upset] about any thing. Mr.Pink is cool because he would try to do this job like a professonal, but then he would act like an amatuer. He plays his role really good, so does Mr.Blond. The sound quality [stinks], but thats it.

Review: Say what you will about Pulp Fiction being Quentin Tarantino's finest film, and then forget everything you think about that once you lay eyes on Reservoir Dogs. Predating Pulp Fiction by two years, Reservoir Dogs tells the story through a series of flashbacks involving a group of various criminals hired for a heist which goes very, very bad. Knockout performances by Michael Madsen (the sadistic Mr. Blond), Harvey Keitel (Mr. White), and Tim Roth (Mr. Orange) carry the film along at a speedy pace, and just look out for the infamous ear scene. The DVD special features of these new editions are worth noting, check out the multi angle feature of the ear scene. All in all, if your convinced that crime noir's don't get any better than Pulp Fiction, watch Reservoir Dogs, your opinion will quickly change.

Summary: Great Movie. Great DVD.
Review: I am a true fan of Quentin Tarentino myself and I believe that this is a truely excellent film. Considering that it only had a budget of $900,000 they did a darn good job. Pulp Fiction is still my all-time Tarentino favorite, but this is a close second. We have some great sequences, great performances, a little bit of violence, and a lot of blood. A true classic. The Special Edition DVD (released 2002), features some very informative stuff on the making of the film and the commencement of Tarentino's career. This is a large improvement from the original release. The covers are kinda neat too, and it doesn't matter which one you get. The extras are all the same. This release is strongly recommended. You should also see: Pulp Fiction, True Romance & Jackie Brown.

Summary: Best of the 90's
Review: The Reservoir Dogs changed the way of gangster films of the 90's forever,and is the best right next to Pulp Fiction,and the plot can be confusing but still understandable. It starts of as five hoods hire to rob a diamond store that go terribly wrong find that one of them is a undercover cop witch leads them to extrems and unsetlling councequnces. Reservoir Dog is one of my personal favorites next to Scarface, Goodfelas, Pulp Fiction and Snatch, A MUST SEE "RESERVOIR DOGS".

Summary: Where's Mr. Black?
Review: Very specific complaint here. I like the film, the extras are pretty good, but something's very odd about the transfer? Tarantino shot Reservoir Dogs on very slow film for very saturated colours -- midnight blacks, electric blues, that sort of thing. I've fiddled with my color controls, my contrast controls, and they're simply not there, aside from the blood red -- I did a comparison with the cruddy Artisan VHS, and it's colors are stronger. Aside from that, it's a nice package.

Summary: Finally a great version of Reservoir Dogs on DVD.
Review: I usually hate it when I own a movie on DVD then they release a better edition later. In this case it is worth spending the extra money. Not only is Reservoir Dogs still an excellent movie after ten years, but this DVD is worth owning for the deleted scenes, most notably different angles of the infamous ear slice shot, and a moving, but funny tribute to Lawrence Tierney. Tarantino fans and crime movie buffs owe it to themselves to get this DVD.
