Summary: Tarantino's finest story--True Romance
Review: True Romance is a great movie in the Tarantino tradition. It incorporates great action with an intense love story. Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette have amazing chemistry. Brad Pitt delivers one of his finest roles in a cameo as a drugged out, but friendly guy (check out the honey container he offers Christopher Walken, in one of the most awkward but funniest scenes I've seen). Worth seeing over and over again as well for Val Kilmer's cameo as Elvis, who guides Christian Slater and gives him courage throughout the movie. Dennis Hopper also delivers a poignant and sweet performance as Christian Slater's somewhat estranged but loving father. Don't miss this one!!!!

Review: totally agree, also my favorite movie. Movie has one of the best shootouts I've ever seen, also a great scene with Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken. That scene alone makes the movie, but also some hilarious scenes w/ Brad Pitt. Gary Oldman also has a great part playing a psychotic drug dealer. A great and smart action movie.

Review: This is by far the finest film Christian Slater has every been in or perhaps every will be. Quentine Tarantino drafted this film at age 19 and wrote one of his greates accomplishments. This is a wonderful, Seven Samurai type of film.. Love It.

Summary: Fasten your seat belts...this is high speed!
Review: I can't wait to show this movie to my friends! Not being a huge fan of Christian Slater, Top Gun, or drug-n-gun chase scenes, I didn't expect to like this movie. After all, I had seen this plot before--right? Wrong. The movie takes off after the first few minutes--taking you with it--and it just doesn't stop. You don't know what's going to happen next (as usual with Tarantino, you're not sure you want to know). Highlights along the ride include over-the-edge performances by Oldman, Hopper and Walken. Slater and Arquette are also perfectly cast. This is definitely one of the most orginal stories and some of the best acting I have seen in a long time.

Review: Love Quentin, love all his films. Just one problem: how come this has a commentary track by Quentin, but none of the Miramax Special Editions have one? For a guy who is an avowed film buff, he can sure skimp on extras once in awhile (don't get me started on the Kill Bill DVD).

Review: I loved this movie. Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper we're absolutely fantastic. I was really dissapointed that we didn't see more of Walken throughout the film. The thing that impressed me the most about it though was how each role no matter how small was executed to perfection. Bradd Pitt, Chris Penn, James Gandolfini, Vincent Donofrio? There are two many roles to mention. Scott did an excellent job with the script although it may have a sunnier disposition than Tarantino's other films.

Summary: A tribute to Elmore Leonard
Review: Quentin Tarantino says he wrote this script as an homage to the style of books Elmore Leonard writes. I didn't know that earlier but it totally makes sense. It even begins in Detroit!

Most of the movies based on Leonards books stink (Leonard thinks so too), which makes this movie so much more fun. Tarantino's JACKIE BROWN is a fun adaptation as is GET SHORTY. My favorite would be OUT OF SIGHT.

I know, this is not much of a review of TRUE ROMANCE. I wanted to point you to these other films as well. If you liked TRUE ROMANCE you may enjoy these as well. His books are great too.

Summary: Who's Not In This Film? Is That Samuel L Jackson?
Review: Oh, what a film this would have been if Quentin Tarantino had taken the reigns of his own hard-boiled script. That said, we take what we receive and it is an interesting viewing experience indeed. Central to the film is the lovers-on-the-lam plotline of Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette. Wrapped around it are a series of comic and violent vignettes featuring practically every actor in Hollywood too numerous that I forgot they were in this film. What resonates with me are three high-tensioned stand-off scenes. The first involves Slater and Gary Oldman as Arquette's pimp that is accentuated by pulsating rap music and the overhead lamp that Oldman swings around. The second, which is now classic, involves Dennis Hopper who plays Slater's dad and Christopher Walken as a mob lawyer. Let your imagination run wild. Another involves James Gandolfini as a mob thug tussling with Arquette in a motel room. The first time I saw this film was before "The Sopranos" entered the public vernacular. Now that Gandolfini has a certain public persona this scene now has more resonance. Then of course we have the Mexican stand-off at the end of the film in the hotel room that is something of a homage to John Woo. All said, this film is a joyride from start to finish but a rewarding one at that. Isn't that Brad Pitt playing the slacker?
