Summary: I was shocked!
Review: After reviewing The Deer Hunter, I was shocked when they reccomended Scarface!

Based on Al Capone, but instead of alcohol, it's cocaine, fictional Cuban Tony (Al Pacino) rises from petty crook, to rich drug dealing murderer with a soft spot for his sister (Geena Davis).

Tony moves to Florida with a couple of his best buds and goes to work for major criminal Frank (Robert Loggia), but falls in love with his wife (Michelle Pfeiffer).

After being sent on a job to a cocaine factory with Frank's long time companian and now dead employee (F. Murray Abraham), Tony works out a deal with the owner of the factory (I like calling it that) and steadily rises.

Supporting characters are weak, however accents are good. Acting is bad however everyone must make a bad film.

SCARFACE is a violent, poorly acted attempt at an epic crime.

Also weakening the film is the fact the it was made in the eighty's and the soundtrack and score make you sick.

Nevertheless, certain parts of Scarface, such as the storyline, which could have been made into a great film, make it worthwhile for a peek.

Review: This is the best film ever made.

Summary: don't watch this film- just don't
Review: Lets first get one thing straight- this movie is not classy, enjoyable, great or anything else, those who are obsessed with the film will tell you. This film is unpleasant to say the least, after watching the movie for my first and only time I felt morally corrupt and bankrupt, a feeling I have never really experienced before even after seeing the Godfathers, Goodfellas and Donnie Brasco. I'd go as far to say I was almost cheering on the bad guys in them films!

Most of the film was complete, mindless violence. If we're comparing violence, and unpleasant scenes on a scale of 1-10 Scarface is up there at 10, no doubt about it, Goodfellas doesn't even come close. This guy (Al Pacino) is mean, hes pure evil, not your average mob guy- no Henry Hill, no Sonny Corleone even. He makes Joe Pesci's charachter in Goodfellas look like Mother Tresa or Ghandi and no that is not an exhageration! And it over steps the mark, it stops being entertaining, moving it just comes across as being unrealistic and sick.

I hated the soundtrack which was cheap 80's keyboard rubbish, rather than belnd into the background it was firmly in the foreground and got in the way. The combination of the directing, music and acting when Pacino's character goes crazy when he sees a guy with his sister (any guy, even his best friend) is terrible.

His cocaine addiction just over stepped the mark and stopped being entertaing or moving too. Just sick. It was hard to watch some of the scenes and I watch a lot of mob films! and scarface seems to develop an unhealthy sexual thirst for his sister!

Finally (thanks for reading if you've got this far) don't watch this film- just don't (about sums it up)

Summary: Possibly one of the best Crime drama ever filmed.
Review: This movie has all the things you could want from a gangster flick. This movie is intense and very explcit, look who wrote Oliver Stone. The acting is one of the best performances Al Pacino has ever done. If You don't like long crime dramas you like this it's fast past and very interesting.

Summary: Money talks, wealth whispers
Review: How far would you go to give yourself freedom of choice.

Pacino forgot what freedom was and went for the world.

One of the most powerful films over the past 15 years.

You need to watch it more than once to really get in to Tony Montana's (Al Pacino) brain.

Ask yourself. How far would you have gone?

Summary: I love it, but I don't know why...
Review: Made during the abominable pit of ickiness in music that was the Eighties, it's no wonder that Scarface has one of the most irritating movie soundtracks of all time. That horrible music just loves to crash whatever emotional moment it was trying to amplify like a pork pie in a vegetarian buffet. Ugly and sometimes downright annoying, the music is the worst thing about the movie. Continuing along the bad points, Scarface also has Brian DePalma's direction, which I never grew a love for. When watching the DVD documentary, DePalma's speech about how he set out to make the film as "violent as possible" gave me even less respect for the guy, when he could have just said he wanted realism to the extreme. Still though, for the few but noticeable flaws that Scarface has, it's still a film that has to be seen just once. Stone's writing is brilliant, and unlike what a few others seem to think, the women in this film aren't treated in a sexist way. This film is about the slow, painful rise and sudden fall of Tony Montana, and the women, along with everything else in his life, are seen to fall apart and deteriorate in the extravagant lifestyle that Tony had built for himself. With the exception of Pacino and a few others, the acting is the greatest you've ever seen, nor is the direction and definitely not the music, but I still respect this movie. Why? Because it's still a good movie that isn't like any other.

Summary: Classic! Joo-know-wha I mean?
Review: Al Pacino is one of the best Italian actors of all time. He plays a Cuban gangster so well that one can mistake him for being Spanish. The use of the 4 letter F word are perfectly justified in this type of movie and I see no problem with it at all. Crime doesn't pay, but Tony Montana sure does make it look like fun. He finally suffers his demise in the end but not without a glorious final segment. This movie stays with you long after you watch it. It's 3 hour time length make that possible--in no way too long at all. This reminds me of "GoodFellas" and other Mafia flicks. Pacino's reference to Italians in "Scarface" is hilarious. Check it out now.

Summary: Rags to Riches to Self Destruction
Review: This 1983 hit film became a movie landmark after it's release. A movie based on the American-Cuban invasion of 1980. Al Pachino plays the mischievious Tony Montana who evades his home country seeking the land of opportunity. His tenaciousness takes him to the top of Miami's Cocaine drug trade but not without the sacrifice of an unforgetable torture scene in which he watches his friend murdered. Tony takes many wise and unwise chances as he lures Michelle Pfeifer away from his Cartel boss. Oliver Stone directs an extremely smart movie with memorable dialogue. The messages are top notch and the movie satisfies the need for vicariousness but then leads you down the path of Tony Montanas self destuction. Many great lines in this movie but to borrow James Cagney's White Heat, "Top of the World Ma"! The movies length is in question when it ends on such a sour note however this masterpiece should be viewed at least once and not by the weak at heart. Scarface is more the realistic documentary than the film to watch over and over. Some scenes are truly priceless!

Summary: My favorite movie!
Review: Scarface is a movie of its time. It depicts a violent era with unsurpassed realism, in an entertaining but shocking way. If you like your mafia movies with attitude, blood, story and more attitude like Goodfellas, you will love and hate Pacino in this one of his classic roles. Be warned, it is violent, and full of profanity (maybe a record amount). This is The Godfather of Disco Mafia at its best!
