Rating: Summary: IT'S HARD TO BE A MAN Review: Energy is the word. This movie is full of energy. An action movie Howard Hawks could have directed 50 years ago. With strong characters and non-stop action.Considering the fact that Renny Harlin, the director of THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT, was Geena Davis's husband when the movie was shot, the personage played by the actress gets another dimension. We haven't seen so often nowadays a leading feminine role which is so slapped, tortured and beaten as it's the case in THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT. It seems that the face of Geena Davis has to be destroyed in order to be converted in another one. And finally she becomes, after all these rites of passage, CHARLIE. A man or a woman ? I let you choose the answer. A DVD for Geena Dav(l)i(p)s.
Rating: Summary: Samuel L. Jackson Delivers Again Review: Plot..who cares! For what's meant to be an action movie this had some of the wittiest and clever dialog I've heard in a long time. Once again Jackson does a great job of the laconic, easy going ready to freak at any moment sidekick. He definitely has the lion's share of the best spoken moments. The chemistry between Davis and Jackson is good and even though Renny Harlin is one of the cheesiest movie makers of all time (deep blue sea...Jackson has the best, all time ending to a motivational "where gonna pull together speech" in this one, diehard 2, cutthroat island) even he couldn't screw up this one. Visually it's fantastic (yes, there's always an explosion to top all known existing explosions at the end) but Sam Jackson and the cool dialog made this movie way above average. Excellent.
Rating: Summary: What happened to Jules in Pulp Fiction? Review: This film is simply fun action that does not require thinking about reality; i.e. the characters can out run explosions. It has some really great one-liners that made the movie for me. Samuel Jackson, with most of the one-liners, saves the day. Samuel Jackson plays a shady detective/con-artist. He plays the part just like his character in "Pulp Fiction", Jules. In fact you can imagine this is what happens to Jules after he retires as a hit man. Some of Jackson's lines seem just like what Jules in "Pulp Fiction" would say. Geena Davis is mostly a prop in this movie, but does play well, at times, as person tortured by a dual personality. This movie is much like Lethal Weapon 1 and 2, which is not surprising as they all have the same writer. A DVD with not a lot of extras that a keep in my collection when I feel like watching some fun brainless action.
Rating: Summary: BEST DAMN MOVIE EVER! Review: This is the best damn movie ever!
Rating: Summary: Some of the cheesiest lines in movie history Review: With the plot an obvious stretch of the imagination they did the only thing they could wih this movie, give it really cheesy lines. Has some great action scenes no doubt about it but the dialogue made it for me. Geena Davis certainly did well, but Samuel L Jackson saves the day again.
Rating: Summary: Great action movie Review: If you're looking for great action scenes this movie is for you. Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson are great.
Rating: Summary: One word: Wow! Review: This is one of the best action movies I have ever seen! Geena Davis as a killer? Totally! Wonderful acting, plot twists and humour, this movie is a definite buy!
Rating: Summary: An excellent action movie Review: Frankly, I dont understand how movie critics could find something negative about this fantastic action packed thriller. The story is well written, the characters, esp. Geena Davis (once the sweet teacher, then the cold-harded CIA killer) and Samuel L. Jackson, are both fascinating and funny... There is not one single boring minute in this movie... Dont miss it :-)
Rating: Summary: Long Kiss my GOD! Review: Long Kiss Goodnight is one good movie. If you like action, comedy and suspense...rent or buy it.
Rating: Summary: A Classic Action Movie, Essential For Any True Movie Fan! Review: Apparently the so called "Movie critics" didn't take a liking to this movie that much, but ya know what? Screw 'em! This movie is pure, unadulterated fun! Samuel L. Jackson in his most dialogue funny role since Pulp Fiction plays a down on his luck PI who just happens to stumble across a pretty school teacher(Geena Davis) who, when her memory served her, was a ruthless spy! This movie is hilarious with plot twists to boot! No one directs an action movie like Renny Harlin, he just goes all out and you find yourself almost questioning whether or not you are watching a cartoon. Fantastic explosions, great one liners and a really cool story. This is one of those must see movies of the 90's, so don't listen to what the critics say check it out for yourself!
