Summary: Best of Tarentino
Review: I don't remember when this originally came out but I missed it and it was recommended to me at the Video Store. I was completely surprised how good of a movie this was.From the start to finish the movie just goes. There are so many good acters playing minor charater roles and they do them each so well. First is Drexel the white pimp who thinks he's a black guy played by Gary Oldman, Samuel Jackson has a minor role in this film with Drexel so you have to watch to catch him. Dennis Hopper is great as Clearence's dad. The best part is when he tells the history of Sicily to bad guy mafiosa Vincenzo Cocotti played by Chistopher Walken. As one of of Walken's henchmen is James Gandolfini who gets in a great fight with Alabama played by Patrica Arquette and they rip each other apart. It pretty violent but it's kinda funny too watching this little girl take on this huge guy. I didn't know until I got the DVD that the Elvis guy was played by Val Kilmer because you never see his face. Brad Pitt is great as Floyd the stoner who only leaves the couch once during the whole movie. Chris Penn and Tom Sizemore are great as the cops thinking they are going to get in on the best bust of their lives. All the characters come together in as the movie flows. The love story part is good too because it is not overdone. Some of the things that Patrica Arquette wears are pretty weird. As for the extras on the film the commentaries are pretty good but there are some dead spots when the actor are just watching the movie and enjoying it. They have some pretty good stories. The extra film clips and the featurette on the making of the movie are pretty good. The deleted scenes are pretty much an extension of the regular scenes but you do get to see Jack Black. The thing that blows you away is the alternative ending that they have. There would be no way, I would have liked this movie as much if they used that ending. It would not be as they say a fairy tale.

Summary: High energy, humor, violence and a great fast-paced story!
Review: Quentin Tarantino wrote the script for this 1993 film. It set the stage for his career in pushing the envelope a lot further than the audience ever expects. There's energy here and a fast paced story that grabbed me right from the beginning and never let up. There's also humor and lots of violence. My kind of film. Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette are the couple at the film's center. He's an Elvis fan and comic book freak who loves martial arts films. She's been working as a call girl for only four days and is sent by his boss to show the boy a good time. However, they fall in love, get married and then he goes gunning for her pimp. All of a sudden they're in possession of a suitcase full of cocaine. Then they drive to Los Angeles where they hope to sell it and live happily every after. Not so fast. The mob is on their trail. Christopher Walken plays the gangster who tries to get information as to the couple's whereabouts from Dennis Hopper, who is cast as Slater's father. James Gandolfini is a hit man and has a bloody scene with Patricia Arquette later. Brad Pitt has a small role as a stoned out friend of Michael Rappaport who is helping the couple sell the drugs. And Tom Sizemore is a cop. Naturally things get complicated. People get bloody and battered. But "true romance" constantly prevails between the couple. Once I started watching this film, I literally didn't move from my seat as I was entirely focused on the screen that was exploding with action. The dialog was terrific. And so was the acting. O.K. - maybe it wasn't realistic or plausible. But who had time to stop and think about it? Certainly not me. I just relaxed and enjoyed. And isn't that what the experience of a good film is all about. There weren't any good extras on the DVD and that was disappointing. I would have liked to learn more about this film in depth. However, "True Romance" certainly does stand alone in its own right. I give it one of my highest recommendations.

Summary: It's okay, but really nothing more than that.
Review: For people who dont really pay close attention to what they're watching, I'm sure you will be impressed. Its violent, there's lots of swearing, and it basically lives out the nihilistic fantasies of every geek on the planet. But for those of you who are really watching the film, you will soon discover (and it took me three viewings to come to this conclusion) it's really not very good. There's a lot of Tarantino stock dialogue going on here and various catch phrases which he has since used a number of times (with more success). The direction consists of lots of close ups... and i mean A LOT of close ups - almost to the point of being ridiculous. The movie makes very little sense insofar as they dont give palatable reason why the girl just suddenly falls in love with the guy. I suppose if you want to go for that whole "true love" thing (as kind of indicated by the title) it could work, but it really demands a whole heck of a lot of suspension of disbelief in the context of the movie. The real high point of the movie is the casting (90% of whom return in Tarantino-connected movies again and again.) Brad Pitt, Samuel L. Jackson, Whats-his-name Penn, That sleazy detective guy from Natural Born Killers and a bunch more. All in all, its a fun movie, but just not very good.

Review: Very engaging and interesting movie. what I love about this film is that a lot of things happened and that made a movie explosive. I'm a big Gary Oldman fan, and it's good to see him here as a Jamaican pimp. Patricia is pretty as usual, better looking that her role in Lost Highway. Anyway, buy this movie you won't be disappointed

Review: The roller coaster scene sums up this whole movie. It serves as a metaphor to an emotional roller coaster of the mind, body and soul. "True Romance" is a tough, graphic look at ...love and how everyone gets one shot at love and what happens if you blow it. That's putting it in simple lamemans terms but it's the foundation to this brilliant film. There was something magical going on when they made this movie, and no other film has ever come close to topping this one. This film is everything. Summary: Creative, Fun, and VERY Tarantino
Review: This was a good movie because of the fun cast. Most of the supporting actors played in only 1 or 2 scenes, but there were so many of them (Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Val Kilmer, Samuel L. Jackson) that the movie stayed fun and interesting. Christian Slater did well with the lead role, and I am surprised that he doesn't take on very many leads. This movie lived up to every one of a Tarantino fan's expectations, and aside from the extremely strong language, the dialogue was fun. Obviously this is not a kid movie (what Tarantino film is?) and it would probably make some viewers uncomfortable. The R rating is typical for any Tarantino movie, which is for pervasive very strong language, strong violence, drug use, and some muted sexual situations. I recommend it to college aged kids in a group setting. This was a fun movie.

Review: Although directed by Tony Scott this is definitley a Quentin Tarantino movie. Lots of action and dark humor plus the "mexican standoff", great movie. Brad Pitt is hilarious.

Summary: Tarantino's Best Movie--He Wrote It
Review: Yes, I like this film much better than "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction" and I like those films very well. This one has it all though. Perhaps having Tony Scott direct it instead of Tarantino is what made it because somehow "True Romance" doesn't feel like it is trying so hard to be a great film and thus becomes one. There is also the fact that there were career defining performances in this film, some never to be equalled by those actors again. Patricia Arquette and Christian Slater, in the lead romantic roles, are their best ever as two semi-losers who are in love and on the run. James Gandolfini virtually gives an audition for his later Tony Soprano role as a mobster trying to break Arquette down through brutality. Brad Pitt is absolutely marvelous in a totally comic role as Floyd, the spaced out, laid back, stunted IQ marvel who befuddles the bad guys. You would be hard pressed to believe Pitt would be the one to become a major leading man! There's also Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper, mobster and retired cop, plus Gary Oldman, pimp and villain. All three are perfect in these supporting roles. The plot itself is a very violent run from confrontation. Slater and Arquette are carrying wads of drug money, being the couple on the run from all these assorted villains. This film also contains probably the best shoot-out scene ever put on film because although it is violent it is also highly satiric. I bought this the instant it came on the market to replace my VHS version.

Review: This movie is not your typical fairy tale love story. It is a action packed ride though the ralationship of one odd couple. This movie puts on one heck of a show, with an all star cast to deliver an amazing script (written by Quentin Tarantino) perfectly. I recommend this movie to everyone who hates that "guy meets girl" mushy gushy garbage. From beginning to end, this movie will keep you pleased. The special edition directors cut is a must. You will love the movie and the extras will be worth the time to watch. The DVD is a must to buy.

Summary: The bomb diggidy version !
Review: Finally !! This two disc version of True Romance is excellent.I found the bonus info. , as entertaining as the film itself. Bonus commentary (from the director,the screenwriter, and actors), alternate ending, and the deleted scenes are the reasons that I found myself purchasing this particular dvd twice. I originally bought the director's edition , not knowing that there was this special two disc version. but it was well worth the investment. If you're a true Tarrentino fan, you know what it means to have the extra stuff that was edited out, and there's several interesting scenes...expecially, the first appearance of Drexel ( Gary Oldman), in the apartment.As for the film quality , great !! I love it when you can pick a scene , and while you choose , the pictures are moving in the little boxes. It lets me know that the people who made the dvd are saying to me.."hey , thanks for buying this old movie. here's a little something for you". It sounds corny , but hey. The movie itself , is spellbinding. Tarrentino's script plays out like a stage production on film , and the casted actor's bring life to an already imaginative and dramatized characters. Plot : A nobody named Clarence falls for a (lonely ,but spirited)prostitute. Dissatisfied with their existance and becoming exuberated with one another, they begin a quest for "a better tommorrow". But it's what happens in the middle of that basic plotline, that the excitement lies. This film exemplifies why Tarrentino became one of the hottest directors and screenwriters of the nineties. Excellent dialog , creative action sequences, fantastic actors, nice budget , and enough directorial insight..to allow Brad Pitt the freedom,to steal his scenes , as Floyd, are the reasons why I love this movie.It's definately worth the money. So don't cheat yourself and treat yourself to a little romance....Tarrentino style.
