Summary: I Love this movie
Review: I don't understand the negative reviews, sure there's some weaknesses in this film but I consider it one of my top ten, although I would have preferred little more in depth look at Gloucester. Strangely this film makes me want to go out in the mid atlantic during a storm and see what I would do.. Highly Recommended. Ignore all bad reviews. ;)

Summary: The perfect Bomb
Review: The definitive over the top interpretation of a true story. Like so many films of this genre the audience are being treated as gullible idiots. There are limits to temporary suspension of disbelief. As the boat negotiates its way through 100+ foot waves crew members sit below deck at a table where mugs aren't even moved by the storm. The last time I had seen the ocean manipulated in this way by computers was in the directors cut of "Abyss" where aliens created a 1000 foot static wave to intimidate mankind, this movie is supposed to based on a real incident... Please... Not to mention the characters are shallow and so many scenes are ever so predictable.... Please spare us this kind of dribble!

Summary: Not too bad
Review: I had no desire to see this movie when it was in the theaters, but someone gave me the DVD so I figured I would watch it. I must admit to getting pretty caught up in the storm, despite the hokiness (especially that phony shark!) and sometimes stilted dialogue in the beginning. I felt like I had been there before, having seen so many shows about Gloucester and about the Andrea Gail.

The storm scenes were amazing as were the scenes of the Coast Guard pilots trying to rescue the people from the yacht. (Even though they were added, I am sure, for dramatic impact).

I think the actors did a great job of conveying the sense of urgency and the teamwork needed on a ship like this.

The life of these fishermen (and women) certainly is one of danger and hard work. Living conditions are pretty bad. It amazed me when I saw at the end of the movie that over 10,000 of these fisherman have died in the last 400 years. Sad.

Summary: Amazing f/x saves film from being another disaster pic
Review: Despite the inane dialogue and the stock characterizations and the maudlin ending and the hokeyness of portraying conjectures and hypotheses as actual events and the fact that this is really just another disaster movie, I found myself completely hooked into the story by the special effects. When that final frenetic hour came around, I was crouched into my seat with my fists clenched. As I think back on the film, yeah, there were some wildly unlikely events on the Andrea Gail as her shipmates struggled to survive but damn, that was one hell of a storm.

Summary: Booorrrriiinng!!
Review: This simply is not a good film. There have been TV programs about this particular storm which I found much more engaging. I have to admit that the special effects where impressive but hollywood has to learn that there is more to movie making than this. By about half way through I realised that I was just never going to care about the characters or the storm, I just wanted the film to be over.

Summary: Non-stop action and incredible tension.
Review: I will admit, the characters were not very well defined, but we don't need to know this, because we know what's going to happen to them. Anybody who has read the book or knows the story of the fishermen know that the storm is going to kick in and they will eventually perish. If this was not a true story, I might be asking for a little more character development, but you see the movie for the terrifying storm sequence, which never gives up in the last hour. The waves keep coming and get worse until you feel like you're in the storm with George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg. Watching this in the theater, the tension during the last hour was making me sweat. I was transfixed and mesmerized, and above all, horrified.

Summary: Twister meets titanic
Review: This is a all around good movie. The special effects for this film are spectacular, the acting good and there is plenty of action. However I should point out that there is one fish hook in the hand sequence that may make you sick. This is the good afternoon water ship thriller to pass the time.

Summary: The perfect movie
Review: This is one of the best movies ever made (in my opinion) :). The special efxs are excellent. If you have not read the book, you should read it, then watch the movie. They are very similer. Very nice

Summary: Great Movie and DVD!
Review: I really enjoyed this movie in theatrical release and at home. The acting was good, in my opinion- and let's not even talk about the special effects! A+ all the way! The movie also had the essential element of emotion, helped along by that fact that it was based on a true story. It makes you feel like you're right there on the ocean, caught up in the storm. You FEEL it. Sometimes, it's hard to believe it isn't real. The regular release DVD is well put together and the Deluxe Signature Creative Design Art box set (signed by George Clooney) is even better! Check this out if you like action movies full of suspense and danger!

Summary: The Perfect Storm
Review: The Perfect Storm is based on the strongest recorded storm in history and a crew's struggle to get through it. It stars George Clooney as Billy Tyne, the Captain of the Andrea Gail, with a crew of four others, Mark Wahlberg among them, as they act out this true-life film.

This movie begins with Tyne and his crew making a last fishing trip out to the distant Flemish Cap to compensate for a poor and low-paying fishing season. After they get there, the fishing is pretty successful and they get by with few problems. When the ice machine breaks down, they hurry back to save their catch before the existing supply of ice vanishes and the swordfish perish. Before they head back, three powerful storm fronts combine to make one enormous, "perfect" storm. On the way back, they inevitably run into the storm and must fight no longer for the catch, but their lives.

Some things which I liked about the movie were the beautifully computer-generated waves, the tough action during the storm encounter, and the way that a great story was narrated. I disliked in this movie some of the drama, for a bit of it was touching and appropriate but some got a little boring, the beginning, because the complaining and lack of excitement got old fast, and how a bit of the technicality went over my head and lost me a little at the end.

Basically, the movie was great, but in my opinion, too long. If about twenty minutes were cut out, I could see myself giving it a four or a five. It is still a good movie if the story interests you.
