Summary: GOOD GOD! I ALMOST FORGOT TO BREATH!!!
Review: This is one of the best action movies I've seen in a long time. Robert De Niro and Jean Reno make a great team. The car chases are so intense I found myself not breathing.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Under-rated thriller that's a lot more than car chases!
Review: RONIN, despite what other reviews may state, is not just a car chase movie. It's cut from the same mold as THE DOGS OF WAR, i.e. a movie about world-weary soldiers of fortune and the lives they lead. In addition, it has a great surprise ending and crisp acting from DeNiro, Reno and everone else. Sure, the car chases are spectacular. But what's overlooked are the crisp editing, the pacing, and the realistic downbeat tone of the film. Overall, this is a well-made spy thriller that is much more than a superficial action flick if one cares to look for it.

Summary: This is a great action movie!
Review: When I saw this in the movie theatre I unfortunately missed a big chunk of the movie (the part where Deneiro finally gets to the guy with the black box) because the movie broke! After 20 minutes of waiting they finally had it put back together but I missed about 5 minutes of the ending!

Regardless, this movie did have some slow parts during the strategic planning that they did but the action sequences more than made up for it. I have yet to see a movie with better car chases than this. I still don't understand how they did it without any of the actors or stuntmen getting killed. It is definitely one that you must get if you have a home-theatre system. I don't know if I would pay $80+. I plan to wait until Walmart gets it and sells it for less.

Review: I have seen Ronin, and it is one of the best De Niro movies I have seen. I love the way he acts.

Summary: A solid post-Cold War espionage story
Review: Know this going in: 'Ronin' enjoys the cliches of the genre. It revels in overturned fruit carts and unlikely plot devices. The cast is strong, with DeNiro and Reno filling out their roles perfectly. Frankenheimer directs the movie with skill, managing to make the action scenes both gritty and polished. But how is the DVD itself?

The image is crisp and clear; not quite the best I've seen, but certainly nothing to complain about.

The sound is truly standout, panning smoothly around the viewer. Gunfire is sharp, engines purr smoothly, and the dialogue is never drowned out.

Supplements include a director's commentary and an alternate ending. There are also some clips on the DVD that will be used for an online event on March 14, 1999. (You need Windows 95 or 98 for this) One strange omission: No trailer -- these are almost standard now and is a surprising gap in an otherwise excellent DVD.

All in all, a good addition to any action-fan's DVD collection and a mighty fine demo disc to boot.

Summary: One of the best chase movies ever made.......
Review: I caught this movie at the theaters and was blown away. It was underrated and people should have gone and seen it, but don't shy away from this DVD! Robert Deniro is great and Jean Reno is great as always. It is also one of the only films that I have seen with three Bond villains in the cast. DVD-wise, the film is great. The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio is excellent throughout the film and the picture quality is spectacular. If you missed the film in the theaters, don't miss this DVD!!!!

Summary: Too many car chases get in the way of a great plot
Review: Plotwise, this thriller is top-notch: Simple yet tantalizing, classic yet unpredictable. The acting is also great, especially of course DeNiro, who is also given the greatest lines ("I hurt a man's feelings once..."). From the very getgo there are terrific suspense sequences, but towards the end the plot is propelled forward by countless car chases. The first one or two makes perfect sense, and in a way the third does too, but one can't help but think that Frankenheimer lets the narrative slide only to blow up more cars. Still, the wonderful finale in the ice arena makes up for anything. A great thriller AND a great action movie, even though the parts don't always harmonize.

Summary: Phenomenal! Perfect 10!
Review: Second best movie of 1998, next to Saving Private Ryan. Beautiful settings, intriguing story, and some of the best action scenes I have seen, most notably the two car chases. A definite must see for anyone who is a fan of this genre, or even just anyone who loves movies.

Summary: The best action film ever with the best action scenes.
Review: This is the best movie I have seen in a long time. It has the best car chasing scenes, best shoot-outs, and a very good story line. Starring Robert De Niro and Jean Reno, who starr in the best movies, they i'd say are the main characters who do not want to be set up, and they give a good revenge. I have seen this movie in a cinema and bought it on dvd, and will (hopefully) never stop watching it.
