Rating: Summary: Flawed, but not tripe Review: Low budget films are all about making choices and Katterskill Falls demonstrates both good and bad. I have to say that the best choice in my mind is that of the music. Steve Tibbets artistry has the ability to evoke many emotions and creates a wonderful sense of forboding during the many otherwise silent scenes. Expertly edited, it flows seamlessly as if written for the film. Although not 'acted' in the traditional Hollywood sense, the characters are believable and empathetic. Despite it's slow moments, the film succeeds in being what it set out to be, an unpretentious low budget film, portraying a very human story amidst some of the finest scenery that this country has to offer.
Rating: Summary: Horrilble! Review: They kept playing this movie on Sundance just like they keep playing those annoying commercials for products on late night infomercials. I watched it in bits and pieces and I can't recall a more worthless film. I've seen episodes of the OC with better talent, direction and dialogue.
Rating: Summary: ATTACK OF THE SMOKE FIENDS Review: They kept showing this movie on the Sundance Channel so I decided to watch it late one night. This movie is the biggest heap of crap I have ever seen. Extremely bad acting, absolutely no plot and features some of the most boring, drawn out scenes ever filmed with even worse dialogue. While a movie like Elephant features the same things, eventually all the parts of the puzzle come together in one dramatic resolution. Kaaterskill Falls leaves viewers empty and befuddled by what has just taken place on screen--thats if the viewer hasn't changed the channel or fallen asleep by then, which 99% most likely will. The only redeeming quality of this film is the cinematography and on-site location.
Rating: Summary: Katterskill Falls, ummmmm Review: This film has it all. Great characters, intrigue, beautiful texture and a good story. Watch it on a rainy day.
Rating: Summary: Tripe Review: This movie was shot without a script...and it shows. Terrible acting makes it even worse. I was hoping for something along the lines of FUNNY GAMES or WITH FRIENDS LIKE HARRY but what I got was something unfit for public access tv. I'm sure the director thought his edits were hip and artsy too but they only compound the problems. Worthless tripe.
