Summary: Much Better than NOW AND THEN
Review: Though I may be a 13-year old girl, I felt much more moved by this film than NOW AND THEN, a very similiar movie. Maybe I just like adventures more, which this film had. It also just made every moment last with a very well-written screenplay (which was Oscar-nominated) and outstanding performances. This film is on the top 250 films list at the Internet Movie Database, and deserves to stay there. I'm sorry that this review is so breif, but all that I can say is that this film is outstanding.

Summary: I'll stand by you!
Review: I loved this movie, for many reason's! One being because not only was part of the movie filmed in the town I grew up in, but because it was filmed in the junkyard that my grandpa owned. My sister got to meet the cast and was waved to from will weaton and river phoenix. I was to young to remember them but, I will never forget the movie. I have one of the first copies made. Did you know that in the junkyard scene, when they climb the fence to get away from the dog, that the director had to cut some of the chain in the fence larger for their feet and that those holes are still in that fence and the fence is still in that junkyard. The lady that passed out pies at the pie eating contest, was the sister-in-law of an algebra teacher I had in highschool. Don't believe me? check it out yourself. The junkyard scenes were filmed in Veneta, Oregon off of Tidball Lane. The mailbox baseball game played by Keifer Sutherland was filmed in Veneta also, and on Houston Rd. Summary: Greatest "Coming of Age" Flick Ever
Review: Do you remember back to the last years of childhood, when adulthood was just around the corner and so yearned for yet the simple joys of childhood still at hand? Based on Stephen King's story "The Body," Stand By Me masterfully captures the essence of that critical period in life.Stand By Me tells the story of a group of boys about to grow up in more ways than one, carefree and looking at the end of summer for one last adventure as they set off on a hike and camping trip to find the body of a local boy gone missing. About to enter Junior High and decide what they really want to do when they grow up, the boys must confront the end of their own youth by realizing the reality of death. Set in the 1950's, this film will not only resonate with baby boomers nostalgic for their own childhood but also with nearly anyone who can remember that turning point in their own lives. Classic early rock hits like "Lollipop" and "Mr. Sandman" and campfire-side chats about Annette Funicello well-place the setting for even those born years later. Never in recent history has there been a group of young actors with such chemistry together on screen. Wil Wheaton delivers a wonderful performance as a sensitive would-be writer who cannot live up to his tragically-killed football star brother's image; River Phoenix plays a tough kid from a bad family but with a good heart; and Corey Feldman acually shines in a film as the son of an abusive World War II vet. I cannot say more to recommend this film other than that it is one of my all-time favorites and certainly one of the best adaptations of a Stephen King story (on par with The Shawshank Redemption). If you haven't seen this film yet, make no delay!

Summary: Incredible journey
Review: I once read somewhere that Stephen King said every time he watches this movie, he gets [ticked] off at River Phoenix for dying so young and tragically. It is easy to understand why. Phoenix's outstanding performance sparkles in this movie and reminds us what a talent the world lost. In addition, the brilliant performances by the rest of the lead actors (Wil Wheaton, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell, Kiefer Sutherland) make this movie a must-see for any person, especially teenagers. It is a glorious story that will make you laugh, cry, and sit back and remember what it was like to be young and determined to make your place in the world. One of the best movies ever made! Rob Reiner and Stephen King and all the actors have given us a wonderful gift.

Review: I believe this film inspired the more recent film, "Now and Then." This has four boys searching for a dead body to become famous, but their mission is interrupted when a pack of bullies
finds out! A heartwarming and emotional film. More of a coming-of-age drama, then a coming-of-age comedy, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying it. Excellent!

Summary: Stand By Me - An Unforgettable Journey
Review: Stand By Me has always been one of my all-time favorite movies. The chemistry between the four boys out to find the body of a kid their age has always been an inspiration for me growing up. Rob Reiner's direction is tops. How he managed to get those four boys to act their hearts out is still a mystery today. The best comes out of River Phoenix as the troubled leader of the pack Chris Chambers, and Jerry O' Connell's part as the way-too-innocent scaredy cat Vern Tessio, Corey Feldman's turn as the crazy Teddy Duchamp, and Will Wheaton as the narrator of the story, the more focused than the others Gordon Lachance. Cameos by Richard Dreyfuss as the older Gordon, and John Cusack as Gordon's deceased brother Denny add an overwhelming feeling of delight to the entirety of this magnificent movie. Special features include a behind the scenes of the film plus interviews with nearly the entire cast, a tribute to River Phoenix, Ben E King's music video of the theme song Stand By Me and commentary by director Rob Reiner. This is one of those movies that no matter how many times you've seen it, you don't get bored of watching again. Highly Recommended

Review: This is the greatest movie. You will NOT be disappointed or disatisfied in any way. There arn't many movies that I can watch a couple times of week, and this is one that I can. It never gets old and the laughs never stop. This is a great movie. Enjoy.

Summary: What an unforgettable movie...
Review: Easily one of the best films of the 80s, Stand By Me serves as a generational touchstone emblazoned with unbridled emotion. Simply unforgettable. The performances given by the four young leads are remarkable and deserved of praise. River Phoenix's role as the charismatic leader of the prepubescent bunch is surprisingly mature and one that you would not expect from someone of his age bracket. Jerry O'Connell shines as Vern Tessio, the jolly and gullible fat kid. Plus, Feldman and Wheaton glow in their respective roles. The DVD is filled with great features. The documentary on the Summer of Stand By Me is informative and gives you greater insight into the making of the film from many different angles -- from the cameras, to the characters and to the action. The music video is great as well. I never seen this movie in its entirety until about a week ago, I always heard about the film from friends and from the media. But I never actually had the chance to see the film completely. This film is a testiment to childhood and to youth. It will captivate you and bring back all those memories in your life that you cherish. Highly recommended.
