Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Typical Over-Rated Cruise film
Review: as usual Tom Cruise over acts.the only thing that saves this film is Paul Sourvino&Gene Hackman.John Grisham wrote a far better book.sadly you get the Hollywood version.all Gloss and not much Substance.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Well made, but a bit too long.
Review: Some people seem to think 'the Firm ' a bad movie. I do not agree. In fact, if I have to choose, I think this is one of the best movies made after Grisham's novels. The plot has been modelled loosely on the book, and is in fact an improvement, especially the end. The one objection I have is to the length. One hundred and fifty minutes is really too long for a thriller such as this. No matter how good the story, you can hardly help that your attention starts slipping halfway. Even so, the last thirty minutes are suspenseful enough, that it makes for a real climax. The story is in itself well balanced, but the scenes have been drawn out too far. A pity, but not more than that. Good acting, especially by Gene Hackman as the corrupt lawyer and Holly Hunter as Tom Cruise's helper save the movie from becoming a bore. On the whole, a good, but not spectacular thriller.

Summary: Very Good
Review: The worst part of this movie was the casting of Tom Cruise's wife, the Nobody that played in Waterworld. She comes across as way too old for a brand new lawyer fresh out of school. Other than that, the movie had great suspense, a somewhat unbelievable ending, but good, clean entertainment.

Summary: Implausible Ending and Overacting Ruin Grisham Novel
Review: "The Firm" stands out as a shining example of why one should read the novel before watching the movie made from it. I noted that some reviewers have criticized the music, which I always thought of as being out of place in this picture. The two biggest problems I have with the movie are Tom Cruise's ham-handed acting performance and an ending that strays from that in the novel and simply is too implausible. A previous customer reviewer commented that Cruise's character would have been killed by the mobsters, and I agree wholeheartedly with that assessment. If Cruise had been a little more restrained, and if the producers had followed Grisham's book more faithfully, I believe that it could have been a much better movie than the forgettable waste of time that it ended up being.

Summary: good movie
Review: this movie could have been better. like near the end when Tom Cruise confronted Paul Sorvino about the evidence. In reality he would have been kidnapped and killed. No way Tom Cruise would have walked out that office alive. The movie changed a few things from the book version. Otherwise it was a good movie.

Summary: Not one of Grisham's best.
Review: I rented this movie last Sunday upon a recommendation by some friends, and was very sincerely dissapointed. I rented it along with The Juror and watched The Juror first, thinking that if I did not like it I would always have the better movie to fall back upon. Ha! I was MIGHTILY irritated by the music, which seemed like it would have fit better on an episode of Sesame Street, and I was dissapointed in the lack of suspensful events. I am a fan of John Grisham's works, and although I will admit I have not read this novel, I thought this was by far his worst attempt. If you want to see a truly good Grisham movie, rent or buy A Time To Kill.

Summary: The Frim will blow you away - See the real power of it
Review: It was great, sure it differed from the book, but Cruise and Hackman took care of it and from great lines to a great revised plot the movie is a captivating exprience and is one of the best ever.

Summary: Could have been better
Review: The book, as always, was much better and more interesting. The worst part of this movie was the irritating piano music that underscores most or just about all of the scenes, very distracting. Did anyone else notice this?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I loved the movie. I loved the book. Thats all there is.
Review: Tom Cruise is a gorgeous man and is perfect for the role of a fresh-out-of-law-school Memphis lawyer. The book was captivating, I took it everywhere with me. The movie was amazing. John Grisham is a master.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Read the book
Review: This is one of Tom's worst movies. The book was so much better. The movie did not even follow the novel and I was bored through out the movie. John Grisham's novel is better when read.
