Rating: Summary: alyson saves the day Review: "Rip It Off" is not an easy film to watch. In short, it is dull and meanders from plot line to plot line, leaving only the most attentive viewer (read: myself) to guess at what was going to happen next. But not in a good way. Judging from its drab look and unimaginatively shot scenes, not to mention a script whose dialogue borders on the absurd, it never ceases to amaze me how it managed to attract such well-known and talented personalities as Alyson Hannigan and Jennifer Esposito. It begs the question: WHY DID YOU DO THIS FILM? Or, on a personal note, why did I BUY this film, especially at $22 and change? Frankly, I bought it because of Alyson Hannigan: she's gorgeous, obviously intelligent, and the girl can act. Individually speaking, she does not disappoint here. It's obvious that she really didn't want to sleep walk through her role as Lexi, and she gives the other actors a lot of material to work with. Although the silly musical leitmotifs seem deliberately crafted to undermine her scenes, she is a singularly interesting actor to watch, and her performance simply wants me to see her do more, preferably a more mature and fully fleshed out character in a serious film (see Jennifer Aniston in her brave performance in "The Good Girl.")But enough gushing: if Ms. Hannigan had not been as engaged, I would have trashed her soundly. Most everyone else in "Rip It Off" (with the possible exception of the fellow who plays Sergei with operatic relish) is more or less "phoning it in" when they do their scenes. This made me lack any kind of sympathy for them in addition to making me sleepy. Also, films of such low production value should come with a printed warning of some sort: BEWARE! DO NOT ADJUST YOUR SCREEN; THE APPEARANCE OF THE FILM IS INHERENTLY BAD. "Rip It Off" and films of its ilk give independent filmmaking a black eye. I've seen black and white student films with greater intrigue and atmosphere than this turkey. And, contrary to the technical description of the DVD, IT IS PRESENTED IN THE HORROR THAT IS FULL SCREEN, AND NOT WIDESCREEN. Can you believe people invest money in these films? (Ahem.)
Rating: Summary: I thought this movie was great..... Review: ..but only because of Alyson Hannigan. I think she did a FANTASTIC job of showing her talents beyond Willow in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and showing how she can play any role handed to her and well. I thought this movie was good in most places and had a fantastic ending (which was a great performance by Alyson Hannigan - again!). I would love it to come out on Region 2 for the Ukers.
Rating: Summary: Alyson Hannigan is the only reason to watch this movie Review: I was really excited about seeing Alyson Hannigan in a movie where she's not playing Willow (from Buffy) or Michelle (from American Pie). Unfortunately, Alyson is the ONLY bright spot in this movie and there was not even enough of her. It was truly painful to watch at times. Everyone else's acting was atrocious. Jennifer Esposito should have her Guild card revoked for her performance. The story was awful, the script worse. If you're an Alyson Hannigan fan, watch it once for her performance. Skip through everything else. You won't miss much.
Rating: Summary: Alexis Denisof Review: In defense of Alexis Denisof playing a Russian character, at least he is of Russian descent. His grandfather emigrated from outside of Moscow during the revolution. In addition, Alexis spent 13 yrs studying in London, but was born in Salisbury, Maryland.
Rating: Summary: Good acting but bad movie Review: The only reason I bought this movie is because Alison Hannigan and Alexis Denisof was in it.(I'm a huge Buffy fan) I knew it wasn't going to be the greatest films ever made but I didn't realize how bad it was going to be. Watching the film I felt almost embarassed for the actors since they were given such crappy material. The story line was thin and it seemed like the movie couldn't decide from whose point of view it wanted to tell the story from. It begins and ends with a narration of the ex-boyfriend of Jennifer Episito's character but for most of the film he isn't an important character. The direction was horrible. It seemed they tried to make shots that were supposed to look cool but it only looked like they were covering up there low budget of a film. There were some scenes that made me feel like I was watching an episode of Dawson Creek or Smallville because there were quite a few scenes with songs playing while showing how sad or troubled a character was. I really wish they had cut that out because it had no point and made the movie drag out even longer than it should have.
The only good thing about the movie was the acting especially from the three female leads. I actually thought Hannigan and Kinski had chemistry together. I would only recomend this movie to die hard Buffy fans or if you're a die hard fan of another actor in this film and then you should only rent it.
Rating: Summary: ... Review: The only reason I saw this movie was becuase Alyson Hannigan was in it. I had hoped it would showcase her talents beyond her role on "Buffy." Unfortunately, the movie is unwatchable. Save your money and pass on this.
Rating: Summary: A unique and oddly pleasing film. Review: Though I only watched it once, and I'd NEVER watch it again, it was a strangely odd but pleasurable experience. The actresses were pretty enough and leading man gruff as expected, not too much chemistry between the leads, but a lot of interesting plots and action. Good direction, but no sparks, yet i was on the edge of my seat, but for what, no great ending, but still i was on edge, there si a qaulity to the film work here and detail was taken seriously and the film is somewhat relaistic. I wish i hadn't bough and rented thsi instead but it was overall worth it, but I can't expalin why... it's a troubling mystery

Rating: Summary: A one time deal. Review: Two stars only for the fact that Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof were in the film. Besides that the movie was horrible. I found it hard just to pay attention. The only part of the movie that had an affect on me was when Alyson Hannigan's friend in the movie died and Alyson Hannigan was destroyed, the flashbacks of them were so heartbreaking. I felt Alyson's performance in that scene was the only thing that had me. Alexis Denisof's fake russian accent was atrocious.I rented the movie only for the fact that I saw Alyson Hannigan was in it. Being an extremely big Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel fan, I was ecstatic to read that Alexis Denisof was in it. But I must say, what a disappointment it was.
Rating: Summary: Kinski, Hannigan and Denisof are great Review: you got this movie...you put Alyson Hannigan..Alexis Denisof and Nastassja Kinski in it and it works..they are great..thought Denisof being Russian who is mainly British..come on...Todd Field, Jennifer Esposito and Steve Harris also contribute roles....this movie is also called Beyond The City Limits
