Summary: thank you, Jessica
Review: This movie's very good, but could have been better. Fortunately, there is Jessica Lange because the lovely Gwyneth Paltrow isn't half convincing at all for this part. Still is a good thriller to watch because Jessica's taking it away.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: It should have been called "Hollywood Hates Catholics"
Review: This movie, in addition to histrionically bad acting and a laughably improbable plot, was an extraordinarily unsubtle exercise in Catholic-bashing (that time-honored Hollywood hobby.) "You know how nuns love a fetus..." was a line that really set the tone of the movie. Jessica Lange plays an evil mother-in-law whose crucifix is prominently displayed in every scene of diabolical mayhem and attempted murder. You don't have to be Catholic to find this movie offensive, or even sacriligious. An utter waste of time, unless you're Sinead O'Connor.

Summary: The Mother-In-Law From Hell!
Review: This was a great thriller about a jealous mother-in-law that believes she's losing her son to his new wife. So she begins terrorizing her so they will move back in with her on her farm. But the woman begins to uncover dark family secrets resulting in more harassment from the mother-in-law. Things continue to escalate to the point of violence and madness between the two. You should definatly see this heart-pounding thriller!

Summary: Non-stop horror and thrills and chills
Review: When husband of Helen (Jonathon Scheach) moves away to race his horse Helen (Gwyenth Paltrow : A Perfect Murder, Shakespeare In Love) is left with jealous mother (Jessica Lange) who is plotting to kill her and Helens baby. Will she survive? Will her husband come back in time to save her and her baby? Or will Helen be in her bloodbath by the time her loved one returns? Rent or buy this video to find out, its very promising!

Summary: "Shhh, I'm trying not to watch this movie!"
Review: Where do I start with this one? Paltrow and Schaech come to visit Shaech's mom (Lange) on their farm. A good time was had by all, but when they return to NYC (?) Paltrow is attacked in their apartment. She also discovers she is pregnant and she doesn't want her child growing up in a dangerous city. So, they movie out to the farm to live with mom. Problem: Mom is a little weird. Not insane (that might be interesting), just controlling. What seems like fifteen hours later we have a climactic showdown between Paltrow and Lange to see who can overact the simplest emotion. Geez, I love both women to death, but come on! Is this the best they can think of.

What makes me so mad at this movie is that it was sold as a thriller in the vein of The Hand that Rocks the Cradle or Fatal Attraction. What we get instead is Lange doing a bad Barbara Stanwyck impression and implying a sexual relationship with her own son. This is really more of a Dallas-style soap opera about a woman who has the worst case of empty nest syndrome since Grendel. When you can't even generate suspense by putting a pregnant Gwyneth Paltrow in jeopardy, it's time to hang it up.

Strong recommendation to avoid.
